<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
Les gaz de combustion et les flammes qui s'y produisent s'asso- oiant à l'air de combustion également réchauffe par les résidus chauds de la combustion, assurent pleinement la ra- pide combustion des ordures difficilement combustibles qui reposent sur la grille 2 ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

@ Process and furnace for the incineration of garbage and all household and industrial residues. "
The present invention relates to a combustion process for garbage and other household residues and. industrial, also suitable for low-value fuels This process is advantageously distinguished from known methods in this industry,
by what it takes into account in a way all shoulder of the conditions to be fulfilled on the one hand by the. complete combustion of the low value fuels envisaged and, on the other hand, for the economical use of the heat produced @
The invention provides an increase in efficiency despite the simplicity of construction and the small footprint required for the construction of.
furnace intended for the implementation of the method and this result is due

the combustion control mode in three successive phases: preparatory combustion, main combustion and additional combustion, corresponding to a compulsory path imposed * in the combustion air, These phases also ensure continuous operation, because two or less of these phases always occur simultaneously, which avoids any complete interruption of heat production, as occurs with the processes and furnaces employed heretofore.
The application of this invention further provides the possibility of incinerating at the same time a greater amount of material and making available a large amount of heat which can be used for production of value, hot water etc. The novelty consists in the fact that the various operations are not carried out approximately in the same horizontal plane, but are staggered in height, with the shadow putting them into operation successively according to their rank.
The accompanying drawing shows an exemplary embodiment of the furnace used for the new process.
Figure 1 is a vertical section.
Fig. 2 is a shot along the x-x line of Fig. 1.
The interior chamber of the oven is divided into three superimposed compartments: the pre-combustion chamber 1, limited at the bottom by a mobile grid 7, the main combustion chamber 2, located below, limited by a grid 20 and finally, again. below, the complementary combustion chamber 3, formed by the grate 29.
At the top of the oven is the loading orifice 5, the closing of which is carried out as usual

usual by a curved cover, can be operated mechanically or by hand. The rubbish introduced therein slides along an inclined surface 6, as shown in the drawing, and falls on the first combustion grate, the bars of which 7, made of resistant cast iron. fire, can be provided with a cooling system and pass through the slots 10 in the front wall of the furnace.
The front ends of the bars' of grids 7 rest on the upper part of a mason 8 limited by a vault 9, and which rests on its side on the partitions 32 separating the various hearths of the oven.
The bars 7 are articulated at their outer ends to a bar 11, with the aid of which they can be pulled outwards by means of arms 12, as shown in dotted lines in FIG. 1, so let the garbage resting on these bars fall into the main combustion chamber 2, and as shown on grid 20.
It is new to transport the garbage, in the lathe, from the first combustion grate to the main combustion grate, without opening a furnace door and without using, old-fashioned, which is marked in terms of economy of warmth and great advantage and significant progress,
The construction of the grid 20 can be established at will. the example shown shows an arrangement particularly well suited to the invention.
This grid consists of two series of bars 20, arranged symmetrically with respect to the horizontal longitudinal axis and which can be moved from the center to the outside by means of a rack or a pin.

screw 21, through a suitable control 22.
For this purpose, the two series of banreaux 20 rest on rollers 18 which rolling in a well-known mode, on rails 31 fixed to the oven.
On the front of the oven, a heating door 14 is provided and, between this door and the grid 20, an intermediate plate 13 has been placed anti-capped on a plate 15, and under which the anterior part is moved. re grid 20.
The rear half of the grid 20 moves under a plate 16, which simultaneously serves as a support, for part of the masonry wall of the oven and for the cast iron lining 17, bordering the grid. From both sides of the covering 17 pass cast iron side beams, to which are fixed the supports for the rails 31. The removable grid bars of the two series 20 are based on chassie 19 assembled with the rollers 18.
0 is under the grid 20 that is the additional combustion chamber, having the shape of a hopper.
As a result, the flames from the additional combustion and the slag heat can act directly on the main combustion grate. The chamber 3 has its lower part 4 closed towards the front by means of a movable plate 23 and towards the rear by means of a grid 29.
Behind the complementary combustion chamber 3 is the channel 25, which can be closed more or less using the valve 27 and by or enters the combustion air- At the mouth of the channel is fixed a connecting partition 26 of sheet metal or other suitable material which ends on the other hand on the grid 29 or on the frame of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
valve 23, so as to establish a hermetic junction between channel 25 and the complementary combustion chamber.
The partition 26 is provided at the bottom with a cleaning and emptying opening 28. The grid bars 29 rest at their upper end on a frame 30, which at the same time protrudes from the support of the concave partition 26 and the interior masonry. channel 25. the complementary combustion chamber 3 is in the form of a tripod arranged vertically below the main combustion grate and provided with a complementary combustion grate ', * it replaces the known slag grates which are blies with less depth.
It has this advantage over the latter that the incandescent layers 'spread out' over a greater height and that the entry of air takes place over a relatively small area. It follows that the air must lick more or less all the parts of the brazier, which produces first of all a very intense combustion, then, as soon as this is finished, an energetic cooling of the residues of the combustion at the same time. time that a suitable and faster heating of the fresh air.
The space which is located below the complementary combustion grate 29 constitutes an air chamber, which can be maintained at the pressure necessary for the operation of the furnace.
An incineration plant according to the invention consists of a number of similar furnaces built side by side and in which the garbage reception and combustion chambers communicate from furnace to furnace.
How the oven operates and operates
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
is the next :
The inoandesoent fuel, which is located during the running on the complementary combustion grate 29, is subjected to a final intense combustion under the effect of the fresh air stream flowing from the oanal 25 and preheated by the walls. very hot from the oven.
The combustion gases and the flames produced therein, associated with the combustion air, also heated by the hot combustion residues, fully ensure the rapid combustion of the low-combustible garbage lying on the grate 2 ;
the oombustility of this garbage is moreover increased by the fact that spread out beforehand on the grid 7, it is, on the one hand, heated on all sides by the aotion of the gases burnt from the main combustion grid 2 , as well as by the radiant heat of the masonry, of the incandescent oouohe 2, and of the vault 8 maintained at a temperature of that of the hearth, and on the other hand, they are subjected to a rapid infalmmation and a first energetic combustion. by the aotion of the oomburant air in excess contained in these gases. the first combustion takes place in such a way that the garbage load of chamber 1 remains there for the duration of combustion of the load of chamber 2. making this time the combustion residues can be removed from chamber 3, this which requires only a short time.
On the other hand the filling of the furnace in the chamber 1 with a new loading of garbage can be done while the chambers 2 and 3 are in activity and finally the die. placement of the grid 20 can also be done while the chambers 1 and 3 are active.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
The operation of the oven is thus uninterrupted. at least two of the chambers being activated while the third is filling or emptying.
R evendicstions 1) process for the icineration of garbage and other household and indistual residues, characterized by the fact that the combustion of garbage, which takes place with a continuous production of heat, is operated on three successive grids, at least two of them. these grids being covered at all times with an incandescent load producing heat. while the third grid is emptied or receives a fresh load.
By these grids; the air necessary for combustion (air current) at the same time as it heats up, is first led from the bottom upwards through the fire charges of the supplementary combustion grates and of the main combustion, for s 'then raise through the layer placed upwards, which undergoes the first combustion.
