<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
Chaque fois que l'on introduit une pièce de monnaie dans une fente du disque 15, on fait tourner la roue 36; la roue 9 étant fixe, le pignon'41 tourne sur lui-même et en même temps sur cette roue 39, entraînant avec lui l'arbre 42 et la came 43; celle-ci, chaque fois qu'une pièce est introduite, tourne de 1/8 de tour ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

Prepayment electricity meter. priority of Swiss patent application No. 56.38l filed April 28, 1928.
The object of the present invention is a prepayment electricity meter. This counter is characterized by a device for inserting and ejecting the currency, comprising a rotating disc, with a vertical axis, which has radial slots placed one after the other in front of the inlet opening of the coin. coin, by a device for driving this disc which, when a coin is in a slot of the latter and an actuator is actuated, pushes this coin and, through it, turns the coin. disc with an angle of approximately 90, angle at the end of which the part escapes, and by a star which is fixed to the disc, and which has branches, in number equal to that of the aforementioned slots, intended,

<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
this star, so as to suddenly push it when it falls from the top of a branch in the following entry.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Figure 1 is a general view, in perspective? Figures 2 to 5 show details, on a larger scale.
In the supply circuit 1-2, is interposed (Figures 1 and 2) a main switch whose movable contact is constituted by a lever 3, rotatably mounted at 4 on the frame, and cooperating with the two fixed contacts 5 and 6. This switch is placed under the control of the device for inserting and ejecting the coins (which will be described later) so as to close when a coin is introduced into this device. The lever 3 is placed under the action of a spring 7 which always tends to keep it in the open position, and it is held in the closed position, against the spring 7, by a stop finger 8 , fixed in rotation to the armature 9 of the electromagnet 10.
The latter is connected in parallel to the devices for using the current and is placed under the control of a secondary switch comprising a fixed part 11, and a movable part 12, consisting of a lever rotatably mounted on the frame, in 13. When the contacts 11 and 12 are closed, the excited electromagnet attracts its armature which rotates, as well as the finger 8, around the axis Sa; the lever 3, released, then returns to its open position. The lever 12 of the secondary switch 11-12 is controlled by a differential gear placed, as is well known, under the control of both the device for inserting and ejecting coins and of the @ rotating disc 14 of the counter.
The device for inserting and ejecting coins (see Figures 1, 2 and 3) comprises a disc 15, fixed
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
to the rotary shaft 16, and formed of two cheeks, interconnected by pillars 17. This disc has four radial slots 18 which are presented successively below the inlet opening, not shown, some coins. Under the disc is placed the part 19. of adjustable position and whose end in an arc of a circle extends approximately on an angle of 90.
On the shaft 16 is fixed the star with four branches 20 on the periphery of which bear the two rollers 21 each mounted on an arm 22, pivoted on the frame at 23, the two arms stretching, approaching under the action of the spring 24. Each branch of star 20 carries a pin 25 intended to cooperate with lever 3; on the shaft 16 is relatively mounted a sector 33, integral with a sleeve 26 carrying a crank 27, which is connected by a connecting rod 28 to a second crank 29, integral with the shaft 30 on which is fixed the handle. actuation 31.
This shaft is journalled in the base 55 of the meter, the base on which the protective casing is fixed, not shown in the drawing.
Let us suppose that one introduces, in one of the slots 18, a coin of the desired size; ce.pièce thanks to its size, is retained between the shaft 16 and the part 19; if we then actuate the lever 31, the manohon 26 and the sector 33 are rotated; this pushes the coin, which in turn pushes the disc 15, this on an angle of a little more than 45.
The star 20 rotates with the disc, at the same angle, so that the rollers 21 come to be placed on the tops of the two opposite branches of the star; from this moment, these rollers, under the action of the spring 24, fall into the following entry of the stars and make them turn, and the disc, very quickly by 45; a pin 25 acts on the lever 3 and brings it into the closed position; at the same time, as the coin turned by 90, it passed the 19 coin, and no longer
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
supported by this, it falls into the funnel 34. If the part is too small in diameter, it passes freely, at the time of insertion, between the shaft 16 and the part 19, and falls into the funnel. - black 35.
The above-mentioned differential (FIG. 4) comprises two main wheels; one, 36, is controlled via the rod 37 and a gear, by the toothed wheel 38 fixed to the shaft
16; as for the other main wheel, 39, it is controlled by the rotating disc 14 of the counter, via the rod
40 and a gear. Between these two wheels rotates the pinion 41, fixed to the shaft 42 on which is also fixed the cam 43 as well as a pinion 44, which meshes with a wheel 45 to which is fixed a second cam 46. The two cams 43 and 46 (FIG. 5) act on the lever 12, already mentioned, of the secondary switch 11-12.
Each time a coin is inserted into a slot in the disc 15, the wheel 36 is rotated; the wheel 9 being fixed, the pinion'41 rotates on itself and at the same time on this wheel 39, driving with it the shaft 42 and the cam 43; this one, each time a coin is introduced, turns 1/8 of a turn;
ratio of wheels 44 and 45 is chosen so that the. cam 46 turns one turn for every four turns of cam 43. Once you have finished inserting coins and the counter disk 14 turns, wheel 39 will turn, wheel 36 remaining stationary, pinion 41 and shaft 42 will then rotate in the opposite direction, so as to return the cams to their starting position, when the quantity of electrical energy corresponding to the number of parts introduced has been consumed.
The lever 12, under the action of its weight, tends to turn clockwise in Figure 5; consequently, the beo 47 of the lever and the peg 48 thereof will tend
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
constantly resting, the first on the periphery of the cam 43, having a flat part 54, and the second, on the crown
49 of the cam 46, crown having a window 50. On the cam
43 is relatively mounted on the sector 51 that a spring 52, bearing on this sector and on the pin 53, tends to apply against this pin.
Figure 5 shows the cams and the lever in the rest position; that sixteen coins are successively introduced into the counter; the cam 43 will turn two turns and the cam 49 half a turn. At the start, the nose 47 remains on the flat part 44 causing the sector 51 to rotate against the spring 52, then it rises on the circular part of the cam 43, leaving the sector 51 to return to its normal position.
Grace. the action of these two cams, on lever 12, the secondary switch will remain open and the lever of the main switch will remain engaged, in its closed position by finger 8; power will be supplied to the user devices and disk 14 will rotate, returning cams 43 and 46 to their starting point.
When he has thus made the cam 43 turn by one turn, in the opposite direction to its previous movement, the flat part / will appear in faoe of the spout 47, but the lever 12 will not turn, its pin 48 pressing. still on crown 49; it will only be at the end of the second turn that this peg will arrive opposite the window 50 at the same time as the flat 54 will arrive opposite the spout 47; then the lever 12 can rotate and close the secondary switch. The electromagnet 10 being energized will attract its armature 9 and will turn the finger 8 which will release the lever 3; the latter, under the action of the spring 7, will be brought into the open position.
The insertion of a coin turns the cam 43 by 1/8 of a turn, that is to say by an angle sufficient so that the them, inside the apparatus do not distort. not the distribution of energy; furthermore, thanks to the cam 46, the number of parts
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
maximum that can be introduced into the meter is relatively large.
