Electric timepiece. The object of the invention is an electrical timepiece comprising an electromagnetic device having a fixed part and a movable part mounted on a shaft to which a spiral spring is attached and which controls the gear train. It is characterized in that the aforementioned fixed part is a solenoid and the aforementioned movable part a permanent magnet able to penetrate inside said solenoid, a driving device mounted on the aforementioned shaft actuating the first wheel the gear train, the solenoid circuit being controlled by a switch whose opening and closing are caused by the movement of the gear train.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, one embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an elevation thereof and FIG. 2, a plan view; figs. 3 and 4 are schematic plan views of details.
The embodiment shown comprises a frame 1 on which is mounted a solenoid 2 and, by means of pillars 3, a bridge 4; a pivoting shaft 5, on the one hand, in the bridge 4, on the other hand, in a bridge 6 of the frame, carries, fixed on it, a permanent magnet 7 and a spiral spring 8, one end of which is fixed to the bridge 4.
The winding of the solenoid 2 is mounted on an insulating carcass 9 of rectangular shape and arranged on the frame so that the axis of the solenoid is perpendicular to the shaft 5. The permanent magnet 7 is formed of two sectors of diametrically opposed circle forming two poles of opposite names; it is mounted on the shaft 5 so that it can penetrate inside the solenoid.
The shaft 5 also has two collars 10 and 11 between which a lever 13, 14 pivots at 12, an arm 13 of which cooperates with a wolf tooth wheel 15 mounted on a shaft 16 pivoting between the frame 1 and a bridge 17 of this frame. The other arm 14 of the lever 12 is biased by a spring 18 fixed to the collar 10 and tending to press it constantly against the shaft 5. On the shaft 16 is mounted a tangent screw 19 meshing with a wheel 20 whose shaft 21 actuates the other cogs of the movement.
A retaining pawl 22, pivoting between the frame 1 and a bridge 23 thereof, cooperates with the wheel 15 under the force of a spiral spring 24. An elastic metal strip 25, mounted on an insulating pad 26 fixed on the frame, is arranged so that its end 27 can come into contact with the pawl 22 when the latter is raised by one of the teeth of the wheel 15. To the blade 25 is connected one end of the winding of the solenoid 2.
The operation is as follows: The solenoid circuit comprises a source of direct current electricity, the rolling, the elastic blade 25, the pawl 22 and the mass of the frame to which the other pole of the source is connected.
When the pawl 22, lifted by a tooth of the wheel 15, comes into contact with the blade 25, the solenoid circuit is closed and the magnet receives an impulse which brings its axis to position II of FIG. 3; in this movement, the lever 12 has rotated the wheel 15, the pawl 22 falls into a gap and breaks contact with the blade 25; the magnet, under the action of the spiral spring 8, is returned to its position I, exceeds it by inertia effect and then returns to this position I by driving the wheel 15 by the lever 12; the pawl 22 is lifted, contacts the blade 25 and the process continues.
The solenoid may have two windings arranged symmetrically on either side of the shaft 5 and the effects of which are added.
The considerable inertia of the magnet and its particular shape make it possible to eliminate the ordinary balance.
Further, the contact device 22-25 is provided such that the movement of the pawl is large enough to push the blade 25 back slightly; there is therefore relative movement between the pawl and the blade and, consequently, automatic cleaning of the contact.
