<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>

This invention relates to a construction set comprising blocks provided with tenons and mortises in their lower and upper faces. Its aim is to make it possible to establish, using blocks of this kind, reproductions of constructions of all kinds giving the illusion of real masonry constructions, without however requiring any permanent assembly of the blocks between them and while giving the whole a perfect stability.
For this purpose, the construction set, established in accordance with the invention, is characterized essentially by the fact that it is based on the use of standard blocks comprising at least three rows of tenons and mortises, each row of which comprises a multiplicity of tenons and mortises arranged at equal distances * - It is further characterized by the use, in combination with these standard blocks, of auxiliary blocks corresponding to a subdivision of these standard blocks.
In the practical embodiment of the invention, the typical blocks preferably comprise three rows of detents and mortises and each row contains ix tenons and mortises.

so that the auxiliary blocks, which represent subdivisions or fractions of the standard block, are formed by longitudinal or transverse subdivisions of the standard block *
The standard blocks and the auxiliary blocks thus established, and all having the same thickness, are, on the other hand, combined with blocks of different thickness without tenons on a fac, and serving either as thresholds or as block covers , or 'of bearing surface to support plates forming a floor or other similar plates.
The attached drawings show, by way of example, the skirt blocks as well as various auxiliary blocks corresponding to fractions of the standard blocks and examples of constructions established using these blocks.

As shown more specifically in the figures. 1 and 2, in the construction set, object of the invention, use is made, as standard blocks, of blocks 1- of a suitable thickness in any suitable material, having tenons 2 and 2 on one side. , on the opposite face, mortises 3, The typical block shown comprises three rows of tenons 2 and mortises 3 and each row has six tenons and six mortises, These tenons and mortises are arranged at equal distances from each other and, for the tenons and mortises arranged along the edges of the block, at a distance half less from these edges, so that from this type block can derive corresponding auxiliary blocks either 1) as shown in Figures 3 and 4,
a half-block of a square shape comprising three rows of three tenons and three mortises, i.e. 2) blocks comprising two rows of six tenons and six mortises and blocks of a single row of six tenons and six mortises or 3) to blocks resulting from the transverse division of these three blocks.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
These different subdivisions or fractions of the block type into auxiliary blocks are represented in the figure by the different cut lines they can give rise to. Cut line 1-1 shows the production of two square blocks each having three rows of three tenons and three mortises; section line II-II shows the subdivision of the standard block into two blocks, one comprising two rows of six tenons and six mortises and the other a row of six tenons and six mortises; de coune III-III shows the formation of two auxiliary blocks, one comprising a single transverse row of three tenons and mortises and the other three rows of. five. tenons and five. mortises.
Cut line IV-IV against, moreover, obtaining two auxiliary blocks comprising one three rows of two tenons and mortises and the other three rows of four tenons and four mortises *: Its same transverse subdivisions can, moreover, be operated on the two auxiliary blocks obtained by the subdivision of the standard block along the longitudinal section line II-II.
In general, the construction set comprises series of blocks of each type indicated, the auxiliary blocks each corresponding in size to those of the subdivisions indicated above. Independently of these main blocks, the set also comprises, as shown for example in FIG. 12, certain additional blocks 4 having a height slightly less than the height of the standard blocks and without protrusions on the upper face, while at the same time. being provided, on the underside, with mortises similar to those of standard blocks. These additional blocks 4 are intended to allow the accommodation, between two rows of superposed blocks, of plates 5 made of cardboard, wood or any other suitable material, intended to make the office floor.
Finally, the set also includes thresholds 6 (figure 13) provided with mortises and having, in the upper face, grooves 7 allowing to slide in frames 8, prepared beforehand and making the office of frame or doors. .
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
The type blocks described, by their cooperation with the auxiliary blocks, corresponding as dimensions to subdivisions or fractions of the type block, make it possible to efficiently realize the most complicated entanglements which can occur in the establishment of constructions. and this while ensuring, during the establishment of the construction, a stability made of all the elements.
Figure 5 shows, in particular, how to establish a wall, of the kind shown in Figure 15, using standard blocks and corresponding auxiliary blocks of square-shaped half-blocks each comprising three rows of three te - nons and mortises ,, For this purpose, on a first line or row of type blocks 9 (Figures 5 and 15) are placed similar type blocks, forming a second row 10, arranged so that the joints II d 'a row fall down the middle of the length of the blocks in the bottom row.
As under these conditions, over the length of the wall, one could not cover any retension with standard blocks without exceeding the given length, the second row considered is completed, at the ends, by two blocks 12 corresponding to auxiliary blocks of the type shown in Figures 3 and 4.
The rows of standard blocks 9 and the rows of standard blocks with auxiliary blocks 12 thus alternate over the entire height of the wall as shown in figure 15. If, at a certain height, recessed parts should be established, of the kind shown, for example, at 13 in FIG. 15, to obtain this result, it suffices to insert between two superimposed rows of blocks, a row of blocks 14 constituted for example by auxiliary blocks of the type comprising two rows of tenons and mortises of the kind obtained, for example, in FIG. 1 by the sectioning of the type block along line II-II.
On the other hand, if it is desired to form a protrusion, one of the rows can be moved with respect to the upper and lower rows, as shown in FIG. 12, in which one of the standard blocks 15, composed of
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
three rows of tenons and mortises are moved by port to the upper and lower rows.
As shown in this figure, in this; In this case, the block 15 with three rows each comprising six tenons and six mortises can be placed, on the block 16 of the row of lower blocks, in a position of stable equilibrium.
As shown in Figure 15, some blocks may have portions 17 hollowed out so as to form arcs or bends of a determined curvature, this curvature being able to extend either over the length corresponding to two rows of tenons and two mortises, either over the length corresponding to four rows of tenons and mortises of the type block shown in FIG. 1 so as to leave curvature 17 on either side or two rows of tenons and mortises, or a single row of tenons and a row of mortises for assembly with the blocks of the row immediately below *
FIG. 15 also shows the possibility of establishing, with the aid of auxiliary blocks, such as blocks 18 for example, comprising only one row of six tenons and mortars,
projections forming a balcony or other support that may be desired *
Figures 6 to 11 show, on the other hand, the entanglement of typical blocks for the formation of exterior walls and shear walls or partitions.
As shown in these figures, in a first row of blocks, these are arranged at right angles, the blocks 19 of a row being juxtaposed with the blocks 20 of the wall forming a right angle with the first.
In the upper row (figure 7) a block 21 is superimposed on the blocks 19 and 33 of the lower row (figure 6) so as to be assembled by its mortises with the tenons of the two blocks 19 and 30 the other blocks 22 and 23 entering into the construction of the two walls, being, by the fact, dis-
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
laid relative to the blocks of the lower row, with joints 11 falling in the middle of. the length of the lower blocks In the case of a cross wall, the arrangement is similar as shown in figures 8 and 9.
The standard blocks 24 of a first row are separated, at the location of the retaining wall or the partition, by a block 25 arranged at right angles and forming part of the auxiliary wall * In the row immediately above the arrangement is In reverse as shown in Fig. 9, block 26 being part of the main wall holding blocks 24 and 25 of the lower row in place while the first block 27 of the slit wall leaves adjacent blocks 25 of the lower row.
Figures 10 and 11 center the establishment according to the same method of walls intersecting at right angles, the blocks 28 of a first wall being arranged as shown and separated by blocks 29 of the second wall, while in the upper row the block 30 of the main wall covers the block 29 of the lower row and bare the blocks 31 are placed with crossed joints on the blocks 29 of the lower row.
It is easy to see that, thanks to the multiplicity of the combinations which can be produced using the type block and the auxiliary blocks corresponding to the subdivisions of this type block, any desired construction can be carried out without difficulty, while retaining the stability of the elements and their cohesion during the establishment of the construction.
Figure 14 shows, by way of example, the construction of a staircase using standard blocks 32 arranged in superimposed rows as indicated above, an offset of the blocks in each row providing the formation of steps 33 whose surface, forming a threshold, is produced by covering the tenons of the blocks of each row with the aid of blocks or thresholds of the type shown in FIG. 12, these thresholds have a smooth upper face, while the lower face is provided with mortises allowing the fixing of the thresholds on the tenons of the blocks from different rows
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
Figure 16 shows the construction of a column or a pillar using blocks arranged as shown, typical blocks being used for the establishment of the base 34.
In the upper parts, on the other hand, use is made successively of auxiliary blocks 35, comprising only two rows of tenons and mortises, and of blocks 36 comprising only one row of tenons and mortises. This figure therefore also shows the possibility of establishing constructions having in height, according to the considered levels, different masonry thicknesses as is generally the case in real constructions.
This construction has a particularly high stability and can be transported without the possibility of collapse. Fig. 17 shows, as a further example, the formation of a complete roof using blocks of different types and auxiliaries. In this example, it is assumed that the construction comprises walls 37 formed of standard blocks each comprising three rows of tenons and mortises. On these walls are arranged type blocks 38, moved by a row of tenons and mortises relative to the lower blocks so as to give rise to the cornices 39.
With these blocks co-operate blocks 40 similar to the blocks 4 already described, shown in FIG. 12, blocks serving as a support for the floor 41 which rests on the central wall 37 on similar blocks 40 cooperating with a central block 42 comprising a single row tenons and mortises. On the floor 41 are established walls 43, formed of auxiliary blocks comprising two rows of tenons and mortises. Its walls 43 form, by their cooperation with standard blocks 44 and auxiliary blocks 45-46-47, on the one hand, the slope of the roof, and on the other hand, corridors 48 closed at their upper part. by type blocks 49 ..
The construction continues to the top with a
