Perfectionnements aux appareils do projection.

Improvements to projection equipment.
The present invention relates to an apparatus for projecting images, and consists essentially of two screens placed in parallel at a suitable distance, the front screen CI). through which the images must be seen being established by means of a colored translucent body, and the rear one on which the images must be projected, being constituted by means of a transparent material, one of the faces of which is roughened, smoky, point or varnished.
The object of the invention is a new type of apparatus by means of which the distinct outline of the images is obtained in the presence of light of comparatively great intensity.
This apparatus allows images to be clearly produced in full daylight and in the open air, and thus to avoid the unhealthiness resulting from the defective ventilation of the air caused by the interception of the exterior light, during the projection of images, as cola usually occurs in cinemas. Two or more screens may be used, depending on the intensity of the external light of the

its on the back screen. The surface of the screen before little, likewise, instead of being flat, be concave or convex, in order to effectively increase the extent of the visual angle of the imagos.
A certain number of devices have already been proposed for this purpose, but it has been recognized that they do not make it possible to obtain the desired result in the presence of a powerful light or at least that the images cannot be seen. beyond a visual range of 35.
The present invention not only has the advantage of producing clear and pure images in the presence of comparatively high intensity light, but also of providing a visual angle of an extent of 75 or more. Furthermore, the invention has another advantage resulting from the fact that, when a colored light source is placed in the space between the two screens, any desired effect of coloring of the images can be easily obtained on the screen, without that it is necessary to color the film,
In the attached drawing:
Fig.1 shows the device in horizontal longitudinal section and shows the principle of the invention.
Figs 2 and 3 are other longitudinal sections. embodiments of the invention.
In the present invention, the front screen I and the rear screen 2 are kept parallel at a suitable distance, the plane mirror 3 being fixed in position at an equally suitable angle behind the rear screen, on which the planes. images coming from the projection apparatus 4 are projected by reflection. The front screen, the rear screen, the flat mirror and the projector are enclosed in box 5, the internal face of which is painted black.
The front screen can be made up of a transparent glass plate, colored or not, by a sheet of celluloid. transparent, by some thin fabric or any other

suitable material while the back screen may consist of a plate of glass, a sheet of clluloid, cloth, paper or other material and suitably roughened, smoked, colored or tarnished on one of its faces, of so as to bring the images into focus.
The front screen absorbs diffused light from outside without reflection and cannot illuminate the rear screen, so that the distinct outlines of images projected on the rear screen can be seen clearly through the front screen. In addition, since the space beyond the rear screen is dark, no light scattering occurs, so viewers can see sharply defined images on the translucent side of the screen in the presence of the diffuse common lens. .
The distance between the front and rear screens can be adjusted, depending on the intensity of the exterior light as well as the dimensions of the screens which generally measure 5 - 100 cm. When any colored light source is placed in this space between the two screens, either on the top, on the bottom or on the sides of said space, so that the projected rays are not intercepted by the light source and that the rear screen is fully illuminated, all colored images can be produced without. color the film ..
Fig. 2 shows a variant where two plates of transparent substance placed in parallel at a suitable distance and a transparent substance filling the space between the two plates} the plate 8 serving as a rear screen is roughened or smoked, while the surface of the plate is that 9 serving as a front screen is colored, smoked or reopened with a suitable substance.
Fig. 3 shows another modification of the invention which comprises a thick transparent body such as a plate of glass, celluloid or other material, the front and rear faces of which are used respectively as front and rear screens) the colored front face 6, tarnished or covered with a cnnve substance
