<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
d'appui.
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
couverture 5.
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

METHOD FOR CONSTRUCTING THE COVERAGE OF A GREENHOUSE
AND CHASSIS TO BE USED FOR THIS METHOD The invention relates to the field of building greenhouses, in particular the covering thereof. Several construction phases must be distinguished during the construction of greenhouses. First place the foundation piles or posts on which the posts are then fixed. These uprights are interconnected at their upper ends by beams and crosspieces. On the base thus obtained are finally mounted the cover bars provided with ventilation windows. ridge profiles and any systems for controlling ventilation windows and for watering.
The frame made up of uprights, beams and bars is then closed with windows. In practice, this last phase of window installation poses more and more problems. The causes are diverse. Over time, the dimensions of the panes have constantly increased. As a result, they are heavier and more difficult to use. It is mainly in the case of relatively tall greenhouses that this disadvantage is felt more strongly. In addition, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find staff.
The weight of a glass exceeds 25 kg, which. in case of manual transport would oppose the legal provisions.
Attempts have already been made to overcome this drawback by using lifting devices specially developed for lifting and installing the windows. However, a lifting device of this kind provides a solution only for the vertical transport of windows. The glass fixing must still be carried out separately at the working height.
Since the trend is for the height of greenhouses to rise, the working height is rather high. This means that additional measures must be taken to guarantee the safety of the personnel.
The windows are delivered to the site in packages, packed in wooden crates. These packages should be placed in places
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
distant from each other in the greenhouse under construction, which means that they must be transported on the ground generally waterlogged. This procedure also involves an additional complication for construction.
The object of the invention is therefore to provide a construction method which does not have these drawbacks. This object is achieved by the fact that the method according to the invention comprises the prior production of a frame, the installation of the glazing in the frame, the consecutive lifting of the finished frame above the construction base as well as the installation chassis on the support locations provided for this purpose for the base cover.
The frame which must finally constitute the cover of the greenhouse can be entirely made beforehand, which means that the problem of lifting the separate panes and mounting them at a relatively large height above the base of the greenhouse is deleted. All work can be carried out at normal height while standing.
It is for example also possible to already suspend the ventilation windows while other equipment for controlling the windows, for example, may already be installed. Lifting work can be carried out with any suitable and relatively light lifting device.
Another advantage of the method according to the invention lies in the fact that the separate transport of the construction elements during the different construction phases can be greatly limited. Whereas in the past it was necessary to transport the bars, ridge profiles and windows separately and to keep them ready, it can now suffice to transport a mounted assembly in one go. This also makes it possible to better preserve the structure often saturated with water from the basement.
The chassis is preferably composed of two chassis halves which must be hingedly connected on their upper transverse edges, these chassis halves being folded back towards each other for lifting, then separated from each other above the assembly and laid by their lower transverse edges on the locations

support. In that case. assembly of the complete cover should no longer be done on site. Assembly can now be carried out in the factory and under optimal conditions.
The total dimensions of the folded and therefore flat chassis are such that it is easy to handle. They allow you to continue working even when the wind speed is high. In addition, in this way, the frame can be easily hoisted between the construction elements of the base without running a great risk of damage.
The invention also relates to a frame intended for the construction of a greenhouse cover, comprising two frame halves composed of sections and the upper sections of which are articulated relative to one another. The upper sections form the cover made in the final position of the chassis on the base. The connection between these profiles can be made waterproof and impenetrable to the wind thanks to a rubber band, for example. Alternatively, it is possible to use profiles which are fitted one inside the other in an articulated fashion over their entire length and which thus already offer a sealed connection between the chassis halves.
Thereafter the invention will be explained in detail by means of an exemplary embodiment illustrated by the figures.
FIG. 1 represents a perspective view of a greenhouse cover produced in accordance with the invention.
Figures 2-4 show several phases performed during the installation of a frame on the base of a greenhouse.
The greenhouse illustrated in FIG. 1 has a base 1 and a greenhouse cover 2 in a known manner. The base 1 has several uprights 3 which are placed at regular distances from each other and which are supported on piles which are not shown. Between the uprights 3 there are also glass walls 4 which again consist of profiles and panes.
As is customary, the part of the cover 2 situated each time between two uprights 3 is divided into three parts by bars of
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
cover 5. According to the invention, the cover of the greenhouse is produced using entirely finished frames, the frame indicated by the number 6 is shown in the position it occupies just before being placed on the longitudinal sections. 7 of the walls 4.
The chassis 6 which comprises the chassis halves 14, 15 is composed of the cover bars 5, the longitudinal sections 8 and of a frame 9 which consists of two halves of ridge profiles connected to each other in an articulated manner. Then, two ventilation windows 10 are placed in a single frame in the frame 6, each of them also being composed of profiles in a known manner. Alternatively, it is also possible to use a tempered glass ventilation window.
As illustrated, the frame 6 covers two surfaces and therefore comprises four panes 11, 12 as well as a ventilation window 10. In addition, a frame 13 which covers only one surface is provided in accordance with the invention. This frame 13 consequently comprises two panes 11. The fact of using a frame 6 and a frame 13 each time therefore makes it possible to cover the part of the greenhouse situated between two uprights 3.
Of course, the cover can also be composed of chassis of other dimensions, for example. the size of three surfaces. In the case of the use of two different types of chassis described above. however, it is possible to vary the number of ventilation windows and their location without problem.
At the limit between two frames 6. 13 are always two cover bars 5 placed one against the other. The junction between these cover bars can finally be sealed, for example by means of a rubber band.
FIG. 2 represents a chassis 6 including the chassis halves 14.
15 are completely folded down. In this position, the chassis 6 is very easily transportable, for example from the factory to the site. It is also easy to hoist the chassis 6 thus folded down. For this purpose, it is preferable to use the lifting device indicated as a whole by 16. This device has a frame 17 which is suspended from a mobile crane by cables 18. A winch 19 provided with a cable 20 which can be fixed to the frame 6 is provided on the frame 17.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
The chassis 6 can also be connected around its lower face (longitudinal sections 8) to the cables 21 of fixed length which, in turn, are fixed to the frame 17. As shown in Figures 3 and 4, the chassis halves 14 , 15 can be separated from each other by releasing the cable 20. By simultaneously releasing the cables 18, it is therefore possible to deposit the frame 6 in its correct position on the longitudinal sections 7 of the base.
