Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

Tamper-proof plastic screw cap.
The present invention relates to plastic screw caps for corking bottles such as mineral water bottles and, more particularly, such screw caps having on their periphery a tamper-evident ring intended to be detached to allow the first unscrewing the cap.
EMI1.1
We know such screw caps A tamper evident ring in which the internal face of the sealing ring carries notches which cooperate with notches of the counter ring of the bottle (generally two in number) to prevent unscrewing of the plug. The separation between the body of the stopper and the tamper-evident ring is then carried out during the first unscrewing of the stopper, by the shearing effect of the weak resistance connections existing between the body of the stopper movable in rotation and the tamper-evident ring immobilized by the cooperation of the notches.
Such known stoppers have the disadvantage that, after the first opening, the tamper-evident ring remains on the counter-ring of the bottle, which is unattractive and impractical. Of
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
more, if there is insufficient cooperation of the notches of the tamper-evident ring and the counter-ring of the bottle, the operation of first uncorking the stopper may result in a free rotation of the stopper and the tamper-evident ring on the neck of the bottle, without the separation of the tamper-evident ring. In order to open the plug, this separation must then be carried out manually, for example by means of a sharp object, which is not an easy operation.
The object of the present invention is to overcome the drawbacks presented by the known plugs mentioned above and for this purpose it proposes to produce a plastic screw cap whose tamper-evident ring has an opening tab on its external face. which must be imperatively actuated by hand to ensure the separation of the tamper-evident ring and allow the cap to be unscrewed, the bottle counter ring being provided with a plurality of notches.
Thus, with the stopper according to the invention, no difficulty can be encountered between ensuring the first unscrewing of the stopper, since it suffices to apply traction on the tongue to detach the tamper-evident ring. In addition, the tamper-evident ring thus detached is open and therefore does not remain on the counter ring of the bottle.
To make the plug according to the invention clear, a preferred embodiment will be described below with reference to the appended schematic drawing, the single figure of which is an elevation view of a plastic screw cap, the part on the left of the figure being in external view and the right part in vertical section.
In the drawing there is shown the body of the plug, molded with its tamper-evident ring in a single piece of thermoplastic material, which comprises a top 1 from which a descending pipe 2 intended to be embedded inside the neck of the bottle to
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
butcher and an external gripping crown 3 intended to cover the upper end of the neck of the bottle. The gripping ring 3 has on its internal face, molded, a thread 4 designed to cooperate with a complementary thread present by the ring of the bottle. On its outer face, the gripping ring 3 has ribs 5 which facilitate gripping.
The tamper-evident ring, indicated in 6, came from molding with the body of the stopper to which it is connected at its upper end by a junction line 7 with low resistance provided between the base of the grasping crown 3 and the internal face. of the ring 6. Regularly spaced on its inner face, the tamper-evident ring 6 has vertical notches 8 which are intended, in the corking position of a bottle, to be inserted between a plurality of vertical notches carried externally by the counter ring of the corking bottle (not shown in the drawing).
The two ends of the tamper-evident ring are joined together by a thin vertical veil 9 of low resistance, and one of these ends is extended by a tear-off tab 10 which comes to cover the other end externally by being fixed to this one by some points of weak resistance.
From the above description it is understood that, the plug according to the invention being in its position shown in the drawing, its unscrewing cannot be carried out due to the cooperation of the notches 8 of the tamper-evident ring 6 with the plurality of notches on the bottle ring which prevent rotation of the cap.
The opening of the latter can then only be obtained by manual traction of the user applied to the tongue 6 to tear the web 9 and then the junction line 7 in order to separate the plug body from the tamper-evident ring. The body of the cap is then released and can be easily unscrewed, while
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
that the tamper-evident ring 6, open at the location of the veil 9, is not retained on the counter-ring of the bottle and can therefore be thrown away.
It will be understood that the above description has been given by way of example, without limitation, and that additions or constructive modifications could be made without departing from the scope of the invention defined by the claims which follow.
