Abstract
The invention discloses a composition of traditional Chinese medicine for preventing
transportation stress among sheep, which belongs to the technical field of veterinary drugs. The
raw materials of the Chinese medicinal composition include Radix Astragali seu Hedysari,
grape pip, Gardenia jasminoides Ellis, Rhizome of Swordlike Atractylodes, roasted malt,
Rhizoma Corydalis, Radix Paeoniae Rubra, Semen Ziziphi Spinosae, Radix Salviae
Miltiorrhizae, Ixeris denticulata, mentholum, Herba Taraxaci, Gypsum Fibrosum, Herba
Pogostemonis and Folium Isatidis. According to the principle of monarch, minister, assistant
and envoy, the medicines are combined to give full play of their roles in improving tolerance
to long-distance transportation stress, enhancing immunity and regulating qi of stomach and
intestine; The traditional Chinese medicine composition is safe without toxic side effects and
does not adversely affect the growth of sheep.
Description
Composition of Chinese traditional medicine for the prevention of transport stress
in sheep
The invention belongs to the technical field of veterinary drugs, and particularly relates to
a traditional Chinese medicine composition for preventing sheep transportation stress.
During the sheep breeding, breeders have to purchases sheep from other places in pursuit
of good breeding of meat sheep. Sheep procured may experience various transportation
stress symptoms, including colds, coughs, runny nose, watery eyes, skipping food, rotten
mouth, and dysentery after long-distance transportation, environmental and feeding
management changes, etc. There is a high risk of mass casualties if sheep with such
symptoms were not treated in a timely manner, which may further result in large
economic losses to the sheep farmer. Currently, there are drugs available in the market to
treat the symptoms of transport stress in sheep, but even if the symptoms of transport
stress are treated, the growth and development of sheep are already affected to a certain
extent.
At present, the common prevention and treatment measures for transportation stress are to
buffer the transportation stress reaction with sedative and tranquilizing chemicals, but the
use of chemicals can easily cause drug residues and damage to the stomach, kidney, liver
and other viscera of sheep, which is not conducive to the growth of sheep.
In order to solve the problems in the prior art, the invention provides the traditional
Chinese medicine composition for preventing the transportation stress of sheep, which not only can effectively prevent the stress response of the sheep, but also has no toxic side effects and will not cause adverse effects on the growth of sheep.
In order to achieve the purpose, the invention provides the following technical scheme:
The invention provides a traditional Chinese medicine composition for preventing sheep
transportation stress, which comprises 20-30 parts of Radix Astragali seu Hedysari,
-30 parts of grape pip, 5~10 parts of Gardenia jasminoides Ellis, 15~18 parts of
Rhizome of Swordlike Atractylodes, 1518 parts of roasted malt, 5-8 parts of Rhizoma
Corydalis, 15~18 parts of Radix Paeoniae Rubra, 5~10 parts of Semen Ziziphi Spinosae,
~10 parts of Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae, 2~5 parts of Ixeris denticulata, 15~18 parts of
mentholum, 1-5 parts of Herba Taraxaci, 5-10 parts of Gypsum Fibrosum, 20-30 parts
of Herba Pogostemonis and 5-10 parts of Folium Isatidis.
The invention also provides a preparation method of the traditional Chinese medicine
composition for preventing sheep transportation stress, which comprises the following
steps:

Effect verification
One hundred and eighty healthy sheep weighing 60+2kg were randomly divided into 6
groups from Group A-F. The Group A was set as the control group, wherein the
traditional Chinese medicine composition for preventing sheep transportation stress was
not added in the feed one month before long-distance transportation, i.e., the conventional
feed was adopted. Groups B to F were added respectively with 5 wt% of the traditional
Chinese medicine compositions for preventing transportation stress of sheep prepared in
Embodiments 1 to 3 and Comparative Embodiments 1 to 2 (that is, the feed contains 95
wt% of the conventional feed and 5 wt% of the traditional Chinese medicine composition
for preventing transportation stress of sheep) into the feed one month before long
distance transportation. One month later, the sheep of Groups A to F were transported for
a long distance to observe the conditions during transportation and the conditions within
days after the end of transportation, and the results are shown in Table 1.
Table 1
Groups During transportation days after transportation A 8 vomiting, 2 diarrhea, 3 5 vomiting, 3 cold diarrhea, 2 cold B Healthy, normal Healthy, normal C Healthy, normal 1 cold D Healthy, normal 1 Head vomiting E 4 vomiting, 3 cold, 1 4 vomiting, 1 diarrhea dysentery, 1 cold F 5 vomiting, 2 cold 3 vomiting, 1 diarrhea As shown in Table 1, the traditional Chinese medicine composition for preventing
transportation stress of sheep provided by the invention can effectively prevent various stress reactions of sheep caused by long-distance transportation, thereby effectively reducing casualties of sheep caused by long-distance transportation.
