Description

EMI1.1

EMI1.1
The invention relates to silencers for flowing gases, such as such. B. occur in the exhaust pipes of internal combustion engines, in which successive explosions produce powerful sound waves; these are to be eliminated by collecting the interrupted gas quantities and forcing them to flow evenly.
Sound absorbers are already known which consist of a housing through which the gases flow and a metal structure which fills this housing and allows the gases to pass through. In these designs the metal structure consists either of helically wound spirals or a rolled up metal sieve or a number of sieves placed one on top of the other, with all of these fillings
EMI1.2
correct catching of the gas waves is a disadvantage.
The invention consists in that the filling consists of resilient, loosely rolled up, thin and narrow metal strips which are enclosed by a metal net. This filling takes the form of a cartridge that is housed in the damper housing. Instead of a single cartridge, a number of such short length cartridges can be used; the number itself is of course dependent on the length of the damper. The filling formed according to the invention is flexible in all directions.
