Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

  Process for degassing liquids, especially boiler feed water.

     E3 is known that the oxygen in the water can be removed from the water by introducing iron, whereby the iron is oxidized and rust is formed. However, there are limits to this known venting process due to the oxidation of iron. The ventilation diminishes as the rust or oxide layer progresses, and it stops as soon as the iron is oxidized. However, such oxide layers cannot usually be removed without further ado by a normal water rinse.

   According to the present invention, this drawback is now eliminated in that there, boiler
 EMI1.1
 such as sand or the like., Is passed, through the rearrangement of which the oxide layer can be rubbed off. This rearrangement can be brought about by a washing device known for filters. The rearrangement of the filter material can easily cause such a strong friction effect between the filter layer, which is usually made of sand or the like, and the added iron that the oxide layer is rubbed off and washed away by wash water or the like.

   The rearrangement of the filter material is continued until the washing water running off is 0: 1. Like. Clear. whereby it can be concluded that the iron contained in the filter material has acquired a metallically pure surface.

   The venting method according to the invention can be carried out in any filter which, for. B. in a known manner with a washing device consisting of a jet apparatus and a jet pipe, through which the filter material by means of a pressure medium (e.g. pressurized water, steam or the like) from the lower parts of the filter material space can be moved upwards in a cycle . These known filters are made suitable for carrying out the method according to the invention in that finely granulated iron or another easily oxidizable body is added to the filter material.

  Once the venting effect of the filter. subsides, the jet wave is put into action and the filter material is rearranged until the iron is rubbed clean.
