1 Gewichtsteil Pyrogallolsulfosäure wird in 15 Teilen Wasser unter Zusatz von 1 Gewichtsteil kalzinierter Soda aufgelöst. Mit dieser Lösung wird das vorher vom Fett durch Auswaschen möglichst befreite Haar befeuchtet und die Lösung auf dem Haar eintrocknen gelassen. Nach mehreren Studen wird das Haar durch Spülen und Waschen von der überschüssigen Farblösung befreit. Die erhaltene Färbung ist ein schönes röt- liches Uraun.
