CHockenförmiger Isolator.
Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf die Herstellung glockenförmiger elektrischer Isolatoren und hat den Zweck, Isolatoren dieser Art aus Horn unter Benutzung von Stücken aus Homsubstanz zu erlangen, die bisher zu den Abfällen abgelegt wurden.
Es wurde bereits vorgeschlagen, Hohlgegenstände unter Benutzung des zwischen der Spitze und dem dünnwandigen Stamm befindlichen Hornteiles herzustellen, wobei letzterer abgedreht werden muss, um ihm die gewünschte äussere Form zu geben.
Gemäss vorliegender Erfindung wird dieses bereits die Form einer Glocke besitzende Homstück benutzt, um einen Isolator zu bilden, wobei von der isolierenden Eigenschaft dieses Materiales und dem billigen Preise der Stücke, die zu diesem Zwecke benutzt werden können, vorteilhafter Gebrauch gemacht wird.
Die Erfindung ist nachstehend an Hand der Zeichnung näher beschrieben, in der Fig. 1 ein Längenschnitt durch das Horn eines Rindes veranschaulicht. Fig. 2 zeigt einen Axialschnitt durch einen glockenförmigen Isolator gemäss vorliegender Erfindung und Fig. 3 zeigt schematisch im Axialschnitt eine zur Herstellung des Isolators nach Fig. 2 geeignete Matrize.
Für die Herstellung eines Isolators wird das Horn (Fig. 1), das gewöhnlich nach den Linien a und b geteilt wird, im Gegensatze hiezu nach den Linien b und c zerschnitten, wobei ein kleiner Teil an der Spitze abgenommen wird, der hiebei von seinem Handelswerte nichts verliert, und das so erhaltene Stück (zwischen bund c) wird einer Pressoperation unter Anwendung von Wärme in einer Matrize (Fig. 3) unterzogen, die aus einer gegebenenfalls mehrteiligen Hohlform 1 und aus e nem Stempel 2 besteht.
Da das Werkstück vor seiner Bearbeitung bereits die Glockenform besitzt, wird die Pressoperation eine wesentlich leichtere und man erhält einen Isolator, der alle verlangten Eigenschaften des mechanischen und elektrischen Widerstandes besitzt.

The invention relates to the manufacture of bell-shaped electrical insulators and has the purpose of obtaining insulators of this type made of horn using pieces of horny substance which have hitherto been deposited with the waste.
It has already been proposed to produce hollow objects using the horn part located between the tip and the thin-walled trunk, the latter having to be turned off in order to give it the desired external shape.
According to the present invention, this horn piece, which already has the shape of a bell, is used to form an insulator, taking advantage of the insulating properties of this material and the cheap price of the pieces that can be used for this purpose.
The invention is described in more detail below with reference to the drawing, in which FIG. 1 illustrates a longitudinal section through the horn of a cattle. FIG. 2 shows an axial section through a bell-shaped insulator according to the present invention and FIG. 3 shows schematically in axial section a die suitable for producing the insulator according to FIG.
For the manufacture of an insulator, the horn (Fig. 1), which is usually divided according to lines a and b, is, in contrast to this, cut according to lines b and c, a small part being removed at the tip, that of its Nothing loses commercial value, and the piece thus obtained (between collar c) is subjected to a pressing operation using heat in a die (FIG. 3), which consists of an optionally multi-part hollow mold 1 and a punch 2.
