   Der Schneidkopf B kann in üblicher Weise mit Einrichtungen zur Bearbeitung in zwei Abschnitten (Feinschnitt und Grobschnitt) und zum selbsttätigen Zurückziehen der Backen nach jedem Schnitte versehen sein. 



   Vor dem Beginn des Arbeitsvorganges wird der Gewindeschneidkopf entriegelt und in die aus Fig. 1 und 2 ersichtliche gestrichelte Lage gebracht. Der angelenkte Anschlag t wird nach einwärts vor das   Drehstahlgehäuse gedreht   und die zu bearbeitende Stange wird durch den Spindelkopf hindurchgeschoben, bis sie gegen den Anschlag i   anstösst,   und hierauf in dem Spannfutter festgeklemmt. Nunmehr wird der Anschlag i zurückgedreht und die Stange durch die   Buchsen in   den Bereich der Drehstähle vorgeschoben und durch diese bearbeitet. Nach beendigtem Abdrehen wird die abgedrehte Stange zurückgezogen, der Gewindeschneidkopf wieder in die Lage vor das Stichelhaus achsial zu demselben zurückgeschwungen und sodann das Gewinde geschnitten. 



   Die durch die vorliegende Erfindung erziehen technischen und wirtschaftlichen Vorteile bestehen darin. dass die zu bearbeitende Stange während der Dreharbeit um die Breite des Gewindeschneidkopfes weniger weit aus dem Spannfutter herausragt ; dementsprechend erhöht sich der Widerstand der zu bearbeitenden Stange gegen Durchfedern, und andererseits verringert sich der Materialverlust, den jedesmal das letzte Ende der stange darstellt, das nicht mehr ver arbeitet werden kann.
