Example: 100 kg of common commercial beechwood tar, which had been separated from water as completely as possible by allowing it to settle, were treated with air with continued blowing air and heating to about 120-150 C until a tar sample taken turned out to be completely saponifiable with alkali proved. The yield of tar treated in this way varies between 5070du depending on the water content of the robot. The distillate that was obtained in the treatment is wood vine-like

averages, the specific weight of the blown product = 1'35, while a sample of commercially available wood pitch obtained simply by distilling off had a specific weight of 1'28.
The comparatively low temperature at which the oxidation took place is also characteristic.
The process is conveniently carried out in an enamelled kettle. If a non-enamelled metal vessel is used, the acid-like product formed can take up metal with which it forms metal salts which are not readily soluble in alkalis.
Motall is then freed in a known manner. For example, either the metal salts formed are treated with a strong alkali, "causing them to decompose, or the reaction product is dissolved with glacial acetic acid and precipitated with water.
The consumption of air depends on the circumstances under which the process takes place. It depends on the shape of the apparatus you are working with, especially its diameter and height, since naturally a low column of liquid allows much more air to pass through unused than a high one.
Furthermore, a tar with a low water content requires significantly less air than one with a high water content. The amount of air also changes, depending on whether the reaction is allowed to proceed slowly in order to collect the distillates or, regardless of the distillates, only works towards the end product and accordingly brings about a strong, rapid flow of air.
The alkali-soluble product obtained by the present process is capable of extensive use due to its difficulty. Because of their antiseptic and antiparasitic properties, the product and its salts should be used for medicinal and pharmaceutical purposes, for the manufacture of cattle detergents, antiseptic and cheap industrial soaps, dark colored lacquers, siccatives, impregnating and isolating agents, etc. like. serve.
