Process for the preparation of a new disazo dye
The symmetrical di-I-acid urea (symmetrical urea of 2-amino-5-hydroxy ... naphthalin-7-sulfonic acid) is often used as a coupling component for disazo dyes. Are known z. B. Process for the preparation of copper-containing disazo dyes, in which 1 mole of this compound is mixed with 1 mole of the diazo compound from 1-hydroxy-Z-aminobenzene-4-sulfonic acid and 1 mole of the diazo compound from 1-hydroxy-2-aminobenzene-4-sulfonic acid amide couples and then the disazo dye obtained is converted into the copper complex compound by treatment with copper-donating agents.
The 1-hydroxy groups can also be methylated and the diazo compounds obtainable in this way can optionally be used.
It has now been found that a new disazo dye, namely a red direct dye of the formula
EMI1.1
obtained when 1 mol of the symmetrical di-I-acid urea of the formula
EMI1.2
couples with 2 moles of diazotized aminophenol. A significant improvement in this disazo dye obtained is achieved if it is then treated with copper-releasing agents, either before or after dyeing, with a change in color to burgundy. The copper complex dyes produced in this way have very good light fastness properties and good general fastness properties. Compared to the known compounds of a similar constitution with the additional sulfo groups in a coupling component, the wet fastness properties are somewhat improved.
Above all, the process in which a simpler starting product can be assumed, which is obtained as a waste product in other production processes in the form of 1,2-nitro-chlorobenzene, is significantly cheaper.
Example 1: 5.45 g of 1,2-aminophenol (1/20 mol) are dissolved in 50 ml of water, first 25 ml of 2N hydrochloric acid, after cooling, 15 ml of hydrochloric acid (200 Bé) are added and 25 ml of 2N Nauium

salted out, vacuumed and dried. The disazo dye produced in this way stains cellulose fibers in red.
EXAMPLE 2 The disazo dye is prepared according to Example 1. The dye obtained according to this information is coppered in an ammoniacal medium with copper sulfate in the usual way, then salted out, filtered off with suction and dried. The result is a dye which dyes cellulose fiber burgundy and has very good lightfastness.
