Österreichische PATENTSCHRIFT ? 21020.
EMI1.1

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
EMI5.1
(Fig. 13 und 14) :

Austrian PATENT LETTERING? 21020.
EMI1.1
The present invention relates to a machine for blowing bottles and other hollow glass objects, in which the head of the bottle is effected in a known manner by pouring the molten glass into the preform resting on a head shape in an inverted position, while at the same time by a protruding into the head shape Mandrel the cavity of the parison is formed. In order to make the distribution of the glass even and above all to prevent the formation of streaks, the parison can already be rotated around its own axis in the preform and air can be blown into the cavity of the same as desired.
The preform is then opened and the crank is swung out of it and downwards in order to then be enclosed in the finished form, whereby air can be blown into it at the same time as with hand blow molding. In the finished form, the same is then blown out towards the bottle, if necessary with continued rotation. The present invention, which relates to a glass blowing machine of this known type, consists primarily in the use of two peculiarly arranged head shapes in connection with the inverted preform and the upright finished shape.
This ensures that while the bottle is blown out in the finished form and rotated to remove the molded seams, the mail required for the production of the next bottle can be entered in the preform, where it fills the head shape and after the completion of the Bottle in the finished form by means of suitable adjustment of the handle that controls the air inlet and movement mechanism after the air has been introduced and, under certain circumstances, simultaneous turning of the upper head shape for cooling! bel can be shaped.
The mechanisms of the machine to open and close the molds, to alternately turn the head shape and to feed it with compressed air and to move the mandrels protruding into the head molds alternately, are extremely simple; For example, the rotation of the parison and the air supply to it can be regulated at will with the help of a single lever, while the simultaneous opening and closing of both molds and the depositing of the finished ones can be controlled with a single step lever
Bottles is effected. A special device prevents it from being pressed too hard
Air enters the interior of the lütbels and possibly tears the walls of the same.
After opening the Fortigform, the finished bottle standing on the bottom mold is automatically placed al).
The machine is shown in the drawing in FIGS. 1 and 2 in side and front views. Fig. 3 shows a front view of the machine with the molds opened in the
Moment when the parison formed in the preform is swiveled into the finished form and

the finished form is blown out and rotated.
10 is a front view of the head molds together with parts of the preliminary and finished mold, the latter shown in section and at the moment of opening, in order to show how this also opens the head mold. FIG. 11 shows, on a larger scale than FIG. 9, the stopcock plug in the carrier for the cup molds and the adjoining parts of the preliminary and finished molds in section during the finish blow molding of the bottle. 12 is a section along D - D of FIG. 11 and shows the re-advancement of the mandrel, which has been withdrawn from the head form, when the head form is rotated from the lower to the upper position, the head forms by 900 against the position shown in FIG are rotated.
13 and 14 show the device which causes the arm carrying the base mold to pivot out during the opening of the molds and the automatic depositing of the finished bottle, in a plan view and in plan. Fig. 15 finally shows the attachment of the bottom form to its support.
A plate 2 rises on the base 1, on the flat front side of which a plate 3 can be determined at any height with different heights. The preform v, the head molds &, kl, the finished mold f and the bottom mold b are fastened to this plate 3 in a suitable manner. A U-shaped support (FIGS. 1 and 4) is used to fasten the preform to the plate 3, which can be fastened at any desired height by means of screw bolts, the heads of which were located in grooves of T-shaped cross-section. Near their ends, the parallel legs of the carrier are connected by a pin 5 (FIGS. And 5) onto which the double arms 6 and 7 are pushed by means of the eyes seated on them.
The two halves of the vertically divided preform v are attached to the free ends of these arms. The fastening is expediently carried out by means of screw bolts, the heads of which engage in a longitudinal groove of T-shaped cross-section on each mold half and which can reach through slots at the ends of the arms and be fixed. As a result of this connection, it is easy to adjust the shape exactly in the middle and in height.
With one of the double arms 6 and 7 (Fig. 4 and 5) is a bevel gear S and. 9 connected, which can also be replaced by a tooth segment. The two bevel gears 9 and 9 are in engagement with another bevel gear 10 in such a way that they and the arms connected to them are rotated in different directions when the other is rotated, with the arms 6, 7 being moved from one another or towards one another and the mold opens or closes. Behind the bevel gear 10 and firmly connected to it sits a sprocket 11. The rotation is effected by means of a chain looped around it.
In the same way as the preform v, the finished form is attached to the plate 3, the only difference being that it stands upright instead of the other way around. It is readily apparent that the axis of one shape must coincide with that of the other shape. 12 is a looped around the two chain wheels and with
Devices for lengthening or shortening the chain. The pull rod 13 engages at one end of the same, the pull rod 14 all at the other. The former is articulated at the lower end to a pedal lever 15, the pivot pin 16 of which is fastened to the plate 3. The tie rod 14 is shorter and ends in a ring in which one end of a
Helical spring 17 is hooked, the other end of which is fastened to a tab which is cast on the plate supporting the pivot 16.
If the pedal lever 15 is depressed, one (left) end of the chain 12 is pulled downwards and the rotation of the chain wheels 11 closes the molds v and f.
A snap device can be provided in order to hold the pedal lever in its depressed position. If the same is triggered and the pressure on the pedal ceases, the tensioned spring 17 contracts and the right end of the chain downwards. The sprockets 11 and the bevel gears 10 connected to them are now rotated in the opposite direction and the forms v and f are opened (FIGS. 3 and 5).
Between the supports 4 for the molds another support 20 is attached, the ends of which are formed into bearings 21 in which the hollow wool 22 can rotate, which near its front end in opposition carries the head molds k and kl, their axes fall in the axial direction of the forms v and f and which are set in height so that they are exactly on the Unter-respectively. Can connect top of those. The connection of the actual head shapes with the shaft 22 is like this
EMI2.1
Friction disc 23 is connected to them (Figs. 6 to 12).
Within the wide bore of the axle 22, a second hollow axle 24 is arranged, which at its front end carries a conical friction disc 25, which stands between the friction disc 23 of the head molds, but with them for gowöhntieh
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
is not engaged. At the rear end of this shaft there is a chain wheel 26, which is set in constant rotation by means of a chain from any motor. The wool 24 has its bearing 27 in a can. 28, which is suspended in the walls of the hollow shaft "22" by means of the shield pin-like bolts 29, so that it can perform a pendulum movement with a slight deflection (FIGS. 7 and 9).
In the axial direction of the hollow shaft 24, a tube 30 is arranged which is used to supply compressed air from any container. The front end of the hollow shaft 22 is closed and slightly tapered. A cock plug 31, which carries a handle 32 at its front end, is inserted into this bore. However, the same is not, as usual, rigidly connected to the chick, but rotatable about a pin 33. Well-arranged springs always hold it in the middle position. The front end of the handle 32 is connected by tie rods 34 to a ring 35 which is rotatably seated in the grooved disc 36. 37 are in the head of 22 straight rods, the front ends of which are rigidly connected to the disk 36 and the rear ends are somewhat widened.
An inclined guide slot 38 is incorporated into this widened end (FIGS. 8 and 9). Near the front end of the continuously rotating hollow shaft 24 rests in an annular groove of the ring 39 (FIG. 7); Pins 40 cast on the same engage in slots 38 at the end of rods 37.
The machine works as follows:
After the molds v and f have been closed in the manner described by pressing down the tray lever 15 (FIGS. 1 and 2), a certain amount of molten glass is poured into the inverted preform v from above. The same penetrates the head shape k, wherein the mandrel arranged in the same forms the cavity of the bottle neck. The inner walls of the bottle neck can be given a special shape by using thorns with a special cross-section. As soon as the glass mass has filled the head shape, the worker pushes the end of the handle 32 towards the shape; as a result, the ring 35 is pulled outwards, which movement the disk 36 and the rods 37 must follow.
Since the latter are straight out, the pin 40 and thus also the front end of 24 are through the inclined slot 38 upwards
EMI3.1
protrudes through, comes into engagement with the friction disk 23 of the head shape k. The parison is therefore rotated in the preform, whereby the distribution of the glass is more even and the formation of streaks is avoided. At the same time, air can also be let into the cup in the manner to be described later.
After the crank is formed in this way, the worker lets go of the pedal-M. The spring 17 then causes the molds v and f to open and the exposed parison can now be swung down by 1800 by rotating the shaft 22 (FIG. 3). Due to its own weight, it will stretch out what the

To carry out expeditions.
On an arm 41 (FIGS. 1 to 3, 13 and 14) arranged below the finished mold f, the base mold b is arranged adjustable in height by means of the handle 42 of a toothed segment 43 and a rack 44. This arrangement is known in glassblowing machines. The worker moves the bottom mold towards the parison and thereby limits the lengthwise drawing of the same. The bottom shape b (Fig. 15) is of course also arranged centrally to the other shapes.
As soon as the tub has been placed on the bottom mold, the pre-mold and finished mold are closed again by stepping down on 15 and the tub enclosed in the finished mold can now be finished-molded. This is done in the following way: The worker turns the cock plug, into whose central bore 50 the compressed air supplied through the pipe 3C penetrates (Fig.!) And 11). Turning comes the end

moves a piston 55 (Fig. 6, 9, 11 and 12), which is sealed against the cylinder walls and against the Hohr 53.
The arms 56 are connected to the piston and are interconnected by a cross 57 to which the mandrel 58 is attached
EMI3.4
The air pressure on the piston 55 causes it to move along the axis of the head bearing. Arm moved back, which movement the mandrel 58 must follow. Since the bore 59 is conical, a ring opening becomes free through which the air can enter the interior of the parison to be blown out and inflate it.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
Since the air pressure in the container from which the compressed air is taken can be subject to fluctuations, it can easily happen that the pressure becomes too high and the bottle walls tear. A safety valve is therefore provided which opens automatically as soon as the pressure of the air that has entered the piston exceeds a certain level.
The device (FIGS. 6 and 11) is as follows: At the end of the space 54 facing the air inlet pipe 53, short channels 60 are incorporated in the walls of the same; When the piston 5 is moved back by the introduced air, the lower ends of these channels are released and the compressed air passes through them into the channel 61 in the tap body and through the bore 62 in the plug under the valve cone 63, which is controlled by a spring whose tension can be regulated 64 is charged. If the pressure of the air is greater than the pressure of the spring, the valve 65 is lifted from its seat and the air can escape through the bore 65 into the open.
Simultaneously with the inflation, however, the parison can also be rotated in the mold by moving the handle 32 to move the rods 37 in such a way that, by means of the inclined slots 38, the friction disk 25 comes into contact with the disk 23 of the head mold connected to the finished mold comes (Fig. 9).
While the parison hanging on the head shape k is blown out in the manner described in the finished mold f to the bottle, the second head shape kl stands under the preform v and it can be introduced into this recently melted glass mass to form the new parison. Since this head shape kl also has a friction disk 23 and the movable mandrel 58 is present on it, it can also be rotated or connected to the air supply by moving the handle 32 accordingly.
In order to automatically advance the retracted mandrel of the head shape when it is withdrawn into the upper position and to close the bore 59, a plug 66 connected to the end of the tube 30 is inserted into the bore of 22, in which the cock plug 31 rotates ( 6, 9, 11 and 12), which apart from a longitudinal perforation fi7 also has a radial bore 68. When the tube 22 is rotated, the same comes to cover the bore 69 made in the tap body (FIG. 12), so that the compressed air can now pass behind the piston 55 and push it outwards again. The mandrel orn 58 will enter the head shape and the bore 59

which is sufficiently thin to completely fill the head shape.
By appropriately reversing the handle 32, the head shape standing above can now be set in rotation, whereby an even distribution of the glass is brought about and the formation of streaks is avoided; At the same time you can also introduce compressed air by turning the handle around IS () 0, thus forming the parison. During this work, which takes only a few moments, the finished bottle has cooled down so far in the finished form that it can be put down without the risk of changing its shape.
Now, by letting go of step 15, the shapes are changed (Fig. 3) to make the finished one
EMI4.2
For this purpose, the head shape consists of two semi-cylindrical parts 70 (FIGS. 6, 8, 9 and 10), as in similar glass blowing machines, which can be rotated around pins 71 and which are always held pressed against one another by appropriately arranged springs 72. The half-rings have an annular groove 73 on the side with which they face the molds v and f, and the finished mold f has correspondingly designed resilient noses 101 (FIG. 10) on its side facing the head shape, which engage in these grooves. When the finished form is opened, these noses engaging in the grooves draw the parts of the head form against one another so that the head of the bottle becomes free.
At this moment, by threatening the handle 42, the worker lowers the bottom mold b with the finished bottle standing on it, which can now be removed and inserted into the liülilof-u. The device can expediently also be designed in such a way that the lowering of the floor shape is effected by letting go of the step 15.
As already mentioned, the bottom shape is supported by a rack 44. she is

a fixed plate 75 to which a second plate 76 is articulated, which has a central through-hole into which the testicle shape is inserted by means of a pin (Fig. li '). A strong cup spring 102 presses the bottom form b constantly against the plate 76, but allows a certain mobility to the side and upwards, so that the bottom form

can even then insert exactly centric and at the right height in the finished form when the machine z. B. should have experienced minor changes due to uneven expansion of the metal parts.
The edge of the bottom mold is turned down conically and the finished mold has a corresponding groove on the inner wall so that the bottom mold is held in place when the mold is closed.
In order to hinder the worker operating the machine as little as possible, a device is provided which automatically deposits the finished bottle at a point where it can be removed from the carrier without this worker being in that position
EMI5.1
(Fig. 13 and 14):
The arm 41 carrying the bottom shape b can be rotated to one side about a pin 90. A stop limits the movement of the arm and prevents it from being rotated beyond its normal position. An appropriately arranged spring, omitted from the drawing, always keeps the arm in its basic position. One end of an angle lever 77, which has its pivot pin in 78, is articulated to the left pull rod 13.
At the other downwardly directed end of this lever there is a rotatable thumb 79 which, by its own weight, rests against a stop attached to the lever 7 with its correspondingly shaped stop surface. If the inner end of this driver 79 is moved inward during the upward movement of 13, after a certain time it hits the arm 41 and turns it to the side, in order to then slide off it, so that the latter is brought back into its initial position by the spring can be.
At the end of the deflection of the arm 41, the bottle should now be put down; this is expediently done in such a way that a projection 103 provided on the front of the plate 76 abuts against a stationary stop, whereby the plate is inclined and the bottle falls down (indicated in FIGS. 13 and 14 in weak lines), in order to resiliently stored asbestos trough, from which the worker removes them to bring them to the cooling furnace.
The new machine is much easier to operate than other known constructions, namely because both the air supply and the rotation of the bulb can be regulated individually or both together with a single handle 32 and it allows already during completion to form the container for the next one, i.e. to work at least twice as fast as the other machines.
