Third or more of the cellulose acetate contained in the composition, especially if the higher chloroethanes are also contained in the composition and acetone is used as the volatile solvent.
Even in the production of rayon, the ratio of the halogen derivatives of propane or the higher aliphatic hydrocarbons can fluctuate within wide limits.
When producing transparent leaves, skins or threads, different proportions of the halogen derivatives of propane and the higher aliphatic hydrocarbons can be used. They are also valuable when they are present in relatively small quantities, and the like. zw. Not only as an emollient, but also to reduce flammability.
When carrying out the invention, compositions containing, for example, organo acid esters of cellulose or similar carbohydrates and chlorine derivatives of propane, for example heptachloropropane alone or with an addition of hexachloropropane or pentachloropropane, are processed according to the methods known in the production of cellulose esters or ether compositions. For example, these compositions are shaped, dissolved or otherwise treated under pressure and heat.
In the production of thin sheets according to the invention, compositions containing, for example, hydrolyzed acetyl cellulose, one or more chlorine derivatives of propane or another higher aliphatic hydrocarbon and one or more higher alcohols with or without the addition of emollients, in a suitable volatile solvent to form Compositions are solved, which can be processed into very thin sheets in a known manner, for example, by applying these compositions on boards or by using spreading machines or machines with an endless running carrier on which the composition is continuously applied and at a fixed point is removed continuously at another fixed point.
Acetone is a suitable volatile solvent for this purpose. Cellulose ester compositions, which contain heptachloropropane or other halogen derivatives of higher aliphatic hydrocarbons, are particularly suitable for the production of thin sheets by spreading them or equivalent operations.
Compositions according to the invention are of particular value for photography, for example for the production of film for photographic and cinematographic purposes.
In view of the large number of materials which can be used as main or auxiliary solvents or emollients in the production of compositions from esters and ethers of cellulose and similar carbohydrates, it is neither appropriate nor necessary to remove all known bodies, which according to of the invention can be used in conjunction with the halogen derivatives of the higher aliphatic hydrocarbons. The invention encompasses the use of these halogen derivatives in conjunction with such known solution, softening and
