Description
Solvents, swelling, gelatinizing and softening agents It was found that free chlorine-containing aliphatic carboxylic acids with at least q. Carbon atoms Advantageously as a solvent, swelling, gelatinizing and softening agent for a wide variety of film formers, especially for vinyl polymerisation products, such as B. polyvinyl chloride, let use. The chlorine-containing aliphatic carboxylic acids or their mixtures have the advantage over the chlorine-free compounds, to be far better compatible with film formers and not to sweat out of them. They are still less volatile and -, less flammable. The Chlorocarboxylic acids in a known manner by chlorination, with one or more, for example 3 atoms of chlorine can enter the molecule of the carboxylic acid. Suitable aliphatic Carboxylic acids, which in the form of their chlorine derivatives as solution, swelling, gelatinizing and plasticizers can be used, are for example caproic acid, Caprylic acid, pelargonic acid, capric acid, fatty acid mixtures with q. to 7 or q. up to 9 or 7 to 9 carbon atoms, coconut oil fatty acids, sperm oil fatty acids and alkoxy fatty acids.
Examples i. 100 parts by weight of polyvinyl chloride (not post-chlorinated) are with 3o parts by weight of a trichlorinated fatty acid mixture with 7 to 9 Carbon atoms kneaded at r.to to 15o ° until one homogeneous plastic mass has been obtained. This results after rolling out Calender roll films that are characterized by good elasticity and resistance to cold.
The dichlorinated ß-ethylcaproic acid also shows equally good gelatinization properties.
Es entsteht ein Lack, der nach dem Auftrocknen einen elastischen, schwer brennbaren Film von hoher mechanischer und chemischer Widerstandsfähigkeit hinterläßt.2. 3o parts by weight of chlorinated rubber are added to 3o parts by weight of tetrahydronaphthalene dissolved and this solution is 7 parts by weight of a dichlorinated fatty acid mixture with 6 to g carbon atoms added. The result is a varnish that after drying an elastic, flame-retardant film of high mechanical and chemical properties Leaves resilience.
