Abstract

La invención provee un método para la selección de una planta de alfalfa con mejorado valor de alimentación y mayor flexibilidad en la gestión, ya sea para incrementar la calidad de forraje proporcionada, ya sea para mejorar la biomasa disponible con anterioridad. Reivindicación 1: Un método para la selección de una planta de alfalfa con componentes de valor nutricional mejorado, a partir de una población de plantas de alfalfa, donde dicha población de plantas de alfalfa comprende una molécula de ADN recombinado, y donde una porción de dicha molécula de ADN recombinado es homóloga o complementaria a SEC. ID. Nº 1 o SEC. ID. Nº 2, que comprende: (a) la medición de la concentración de lignina detergente ácida (ADL) en un tejido de tallo inferior de cada una de dichas plantas de alfalfa en dicha población de plantas de alfalfa, donde dicha concentración de ADL se reduce entre 12% y aproximadamente 31% en comparación con un tejido de tallo inferior de una planta de alfalfa que no comprende dicha molécula de ADN; (b) la medición de la concentración de guaiacil lignina (G lignina) en dicho tejido de tallo inferior, donde dicho contenido de G lignina es reducido alrededor de 25% o más en dicho tejido de tallo inferior, en comparación con un tejido de tallo inferior de una planta de alfalfa que no comprende dicha molécula de ADN; (c) la medición del componente de digestibilidad de fibra detergente neutra (NDFD) en dicho tejido de tallo inferior, donde dicho valor de NDFD está aumentado más de 18% en dicho tejido de tallo inferior en comparación con un tejido de tallo inferior de una planta de alfalfa que no comprende dicha molécula de ADN; (d) la selección de una planta de alfalfa que comprende los componentes de valor nutricional mejorado de las etapas (a) - (c); y (e) el cultivo de dicha planta de alfalfa seleccionada en la etapa (d).
