Abstract
Un método para preparar un polímero de poliisobutileno en un reactor de bucle recirculante con uno o más tubos de reacción en contacto con un medio de transferencia térmica incluye: (a) proporcionar una mezcla de alimentación que consiste esencialmente en monómero polimerizable y catalizador a una corriente de un reactor residual a una tasa de alimentación para formar una mezcla de reacción, donde la mezcla de reacción contiene menos que 5% en peso de componentes de diluyente; (b) recircular la mezcla de reacción en el uno o más tubos de reacción del reactor de bucle a una tasa de recirculación mayor que la tasa de alimentación por el uso de una bomba recirculante que opera a una presión diferencial, DP, correspondiente a un flujo recirculante; (c) polimerizar la mezcla de reacción en el uno o más tubos del reactor de bucle para convertir la mezcla de alimentación en polímero de poliisobutileno mientras se enfría el uno o más tubos del reactor de bucle con el medio de transferencia térmica; y (e) retirar polímero de poliisobutileno del reactor de bucle.
