Abstract

Un método para preparar modificadores de reología hidrófobamente modificados; comprendiendo dicho método polimerizar una mezcla monomérica que tiene dos o más componentes. El primer componente es H2C=C(R)C (O)X(CH2CH2O)(CH(R´ )CH2O)mR" H2C=C (R) C6H4C (CH3) 2NHCO2 (CH2CH2O)n(CH(R´) CH2O)mR", en donde X es O o NH, R es H o CH3, R´ es alquilo C1-C2 R" es alquilo C8-C22 o alquilfenilo C8-C16, n es un número promedio de 6 a 100 y m es un número promedio de 0 a 50, siempre que n = m y m+n sea de 6 a 100. El segundo componente es un monómero de ácido carboxílico C3-C6 en donde la polimerización ocurre en presencia de un oxidante, un reductor y un catalizador de metal y, sustancialmente en ausencia de un peróxido, hidroperóxido o peréster que contiene un grupo alquilo que tiene al menos cinco átomos de carbono.
