Abstract
Se revela un método para producir un lingote que puede ser calentado y laminado, o de otro modo, trabajado con equipo convencional para formar un producto con un centro de acero y un revestimiento de una aleación que comprende acero inoxidable, níquel-cromo, níquel-cobre o cobre-níquel. Para un producto tal como una barra de refuerzo resistente a la corrosión, el lingote comprende un centro de acero sólido que es insertado en un tubo de aleación y en el cual se llevan a cabo operaciones de estampado, para generar que el tamaño transversal de partes discretas del tubo disminuya. Las operaciones de estampado pueden llevarse a cabo en la parte del tubo que tiene una interfaz con el cuerpo de acero. Esto puede generar que la longitud del tubo aumente y también que el tamaño transversal del cuerpo de acero en la interfaz disminuya. Para prevenir la oxidación del cromo y otros metales en el tubo, una o más briquetas de metal de barrido, tal como aluminio o titanio, son insertadas en las partes del tubo que sobresalen libres desde un extremo del centro. Estas partes luego son estampadas hacia adentro y selladas por soldadura, o similar, previo a que el lingote sea calentado. Para producir un producto tubular, el centro tiene un hueco que aloja un segundo tubo de metal. En este caso, cualquiera o ambos tubos pueden estar compuestos de la aleación.
