Abstract

La presente solicitud está relacionada con un procedimiento para producir 1,2-propanodiol por fermentacion, que comprende: el cultivo de un microorganismo que produce 1,2-propanodiol en un medio apropiado que comprende una fuente de sacarosa y la recuperacion del 1,2-propanodiol que se está produciendo, en el que el microorganismo es capaz de utilizar sacarosa como unica fuente de carbono para la produccion de 1,2-propanodiol. En un aspecto preferente de la solicitud la fuente de sacarosa se obtiene a partir de biomasa, en particular, a partir de biomasa vegetal, particularmente de jugo de cana de azucar.
