Bacteria termofila anaerobia estricta que pertenece al grupo de Thermoanaerobacter mathranii y mutantes y derivados de la misma. La bacteria es particularmente adecuada para la produccion de productos de fermentacion tales como etanol, ácido láctico, ácido acético e hidrogeno de biomasa lignocelulosica.
