Abstract
Se describe un proceso para la lixiviacion de un metal valioso de una mena que contiene dicho metal valioso, incluyendo el proceso las etapas de lixiviar la mena en presencia de ácido clorhídrico de modo de formar una sal cloruro de metal soluble en una solucion de lixiviar; agregar dioxido de azufre a la solucion de lixiviar; recuperar una sal sulfato de metal o sulfito de metal de la solucion de lixiviacion; y regenerar ácido clorhídrico. La mena puede ser una mena de metal de base oxídica, tal como una mena de oxido de zinc; una mena de níquel laterítica, tal como una mena saprolítica o limonítica; una mena de sulfuro o una mena de titanio. El metal valioso se selecciona típicamente entre el grupo que consiste en Zn, Cu, Ti, Al, Cr, Ni, Co, Mn, Fe, Pb, Na, K, Ca, metales del grupo de platino y oro. El metal en la sal sulfato o sulfito de metal puede ser el metal valioso, o puede ser un metal de menor valor que el metal valioso, tal como magnesio. El ácido clorhídrico regenerado es reciclado dentro del proceso de lixiviacion.
