Abstract

Se puede producir un polietileno de amplio peso molecular y un polietileno con perfil bimodal de peso molecular con sistemas catalíticos a base de cromo empleando alquilsilanoles. Los sistemas pueden comprender además diversos compuestos organoaluminio. También se pueden ajustar la actividad catalítica y el peso molecular del polietileno así obtenido. Reivindicación 1: Un catalizador de cromo con soporte que comprende: óxido de cromo, un soporte con contenido de sílice que comprende sílice seleccionada entre el grupo que consiste en sílice con (a) un volumen de poro de aproximadamente 1,1-1,8 cm3/g y un área superficial de aproximadamente 245-375m2/g, (b) un volumen de poro de aproximadamente 2,4-3,7 cm3/g y un área superficial de aproximadamente 410-620m2/g y (c) un volumen de poro aproximadamente 0,9-1,4 cm3/g y un área superficial de aproximadamente 390-590 m2/g y un alquilsilanol, donde dicho catalizador de cromo con soporte se activa a 400-860°C, antes de la adición de dicho alquilsilanol.
