Abstract

Un método para aumentar la eficiencia de caustificacion y/o reducir la carga inorgánica inerte en procesos de pulpacion alcalinos. Esos procesos seutilizan comunmente en la pulpacion y blanqueo de madera y materiales de fibras celulosicas que noprov ienen de la madera. El método consiste en hacerreaccionar una solucion acuosa de carbonato de sodio con cal para producir hidroxido de sodio (caustificacion) en presencia de borato a fin de mejorar laeficiencia de la reaccion de caustificacion.El bo rato es introducido en una cantidad suficiente para producir una razon molar de boro a sodio (B/Na) en elrango comprendido entre aproximadamente 0,001:1 y 0,4:1, preferentemente en el rango comprendido entre aproximadamente 0,01:1 y0,3:1, locual da como resultadouna mayor eficiencia de caustificacion de hasta 8% más que la eficiencia de reaccion obtenida en ausencia de borato.
