Abstract
La presente se refiere a materiales de almacenamiento de alta succion, en partícular materiales de espuma polimérica colapsable de alta succion, que alentrar en contacto con fluidos acuosos (en particular fluidos corporales acuosos tal como orina),s e pueden expandir y absorber estos fluidos aun cuando secontraponen a presiones hidrostáticas significativas. Comprenden una estructura de espuma polimérica de celdas abiertas interconectadas. En un aspecto, lasespumas absorben por lo menos 25 g/gap roximadamente contra una presion de altura hidrostática de 50 cm. En otro aspecto, las espumas de la presenteinvencion tendrán una altura de sorcion de caida (VHSH) a 90% de por lo menos 60 cm. La presente se refiere adicionalmente a un procesopara obtener estasespumas mediante la polimerizacion de un tipo específico de emulsion agua en aceite o HIPE que tiene una fase de aceite y una fase de agua. Este procesocomprende los pasos de: A) formar una emulsion agua en aceite de: 1) una fasede acei te que comprende: a) un componente monomérico capaz de formar uncopolímero; i) un monomero monofuncional capaz de formar un polímero amorfo atáctico; ii) un comonomero monofuncional capaz de impartir una durezaequivalente a aquellaproporcionada por estireno; iii) un agente de reticulacion polifuncional que se selecciona de divinilbencenos, trivinilbencenos,diviniltoluenos, divinilxilenos, divinilnaftalenos, divinilalquilbencenos, divinilfenantrenos, divinilbifenilos,divinildifenilmetanos, divi nilbencilos,divinilfeniléteres, divinildifenilsulfuros, divinilfuranos, divinilsulfuro, divinilsulfona, tetrakis[2-etoxiacriloxi]silano y mezclas de éstos; y iv) unsegundo agente de reticulacion polifuncional que seselecciona de acrilatos, metacrila tos, acrilamidas, metacrilamidas polifuncionales, y mezclas de éstos; yb) un componente emulsionante que comprende: (i) un emulsionante principal que se seleccionan de monoésteres de diglicerol de ácidos grasosC16-24ramificados, ácidos grasos C16-22 lineales insaturados, ácidos grasos C12-14 lineales saturados; monoésteres de sorbitan de ácidos grasos C16-24 ramificados;
