Abstract

Un proceso para la reduccion y fusion de compuestos que contienen metal, que comprende alimentar una carga que a su vez comprende una mezcla de uncompuesto contenedor de metal y un agente reductor adecuado en forma de partículas, dentrode un recipiente eléctricamente calentable, que contieneun bano de dicho metal en forma líquida de manera tal que se forma una zona de reaccion en la carga en la cual el componente contenedor de metal esreducido y una zona de fusion se forma porde bajo de la zona de reaccion en donde se funde el metal reducido; controlándose dicho proceso de tal maneraque sustancialmente la totalidad de la reduccion de dicho compuesto contenedor de metal tiene lugar en la fase solida. Unaparat o para llevar acabo el proceso, que comprende un horno de induccion del tipo canal, de compartimiento unico, en el se lleva a cabo dicha fusion y reduccion, estandoel compartimiento provisto con por lo menos una abertura dealimentacion para la carga; por lo menos una abertura de salida para el producto metálicolíquido; y por lo menos una abertura de salida para cualquier escoria formada en la reaccion.
