Čelik, naročito za proizvodnju železničkih i tramvajskih skretničkih srca, obuhvata gvoždje sa masenim procentima: 0,07 do 0,15% ugljenika, 0,50 do 1,20% mangana, maksimalno 0,50% silicijuma, 1,20 do 2,00% hroma, 0,40 do 0,70% molibdena, 2,50 do 3,50% nikla, maksimalno 0,13% vanadijuma, maksimalno 0,05% titana, maksimalno 0,045% ukupnog sadržaja aluminijuma u čeliku, maksimalno 0,015% fosfora, maksimalno 0,015% sumpora.
