吸収性物品(1)は、吸収性コア(5)の坪量が所定の範囲にある高坪量部(55)と、背側部(R)に位置し、高坪量部(55)に比べて吸収性コア(5)の坪量が小さい背側低坪量部(56R)と有する。背側低坪量部(56R)は、高坪量部(55)よりも縦方向(X)の外方に位置して高坪量部(55)に隣接している。一対の縦方向伸縮部(70,70)は、それぞれ、背側低坪量部(56R)と縦方向(X)において同位置にある部分を有する。吸収性物品(1)の着用時に表面シート(3)における背側低坪量部(56R)に位置する部分の肌対向面に、該部分が変形してなる背側襞(20)が横方向(Y)に延在している。

Description

吸収性物品
 本発明は、使い捨ておむつ等の吸収性物品に関する。
 吸収性物品として、体液を吸収保持する吸収性コアと、該吸収性コアの肌対向面側に配置され、着用時に着用者の肌と接触する表面シートと、該吸収性コアの縦方向(着用者の前後方向に対応する方向)に沿う両側部に対応して配置された一対の防漏カフとを備えたものが知られている。特許文献1~3には、斯かる構成を有する使い捨ておむつが記載されている。
 特許文献1及び2に記載のおむつは、一対の防漏カフの一方と他方とに挟まれた領域における表面シートの肌対向面に、横方向に延びる襞を有している。特許文献1及び2に記載のおむつでは吸収性コアの坪量が均一であり、前記襞は、その均一な坪量の吸収性コアと平面視で重なる位置に設けられている。前記襞は、軟便等の比較的流動性の高い体液を堰き止める防漏壁として機能するもので、特許文献1及び2に記載のおむつによれば、該襞により、おむつの縦方向端部から体液が外部に漏れ出す不都合を防止できるとされている。特許文献1に記載のおむつにおける前記襞は、表面シートの折り込み部(タック)からなる。特許文献2に記載のおむつでは、複数の表面シートが縦方向に重なり合うように配置され、その複数の表面シートの重なり部に位置する表面シートの自由縁(表面シートにおける他の部材との非固定部)が前記襞を形成している。
 特許文献3の図19及び20に記載のおむつは、吸収体本体2(吸収体)の縦方向端部を、吸収体本体2に形成された幅方向屈曲構造部分7′を折り返し線18として表面シート3側に折り返してなる折り返し部19を有しており、折り返し部19を有しながらもコンパクトであることを特徴としている(特許文献3の[0067]、[0068]及び[0004])。折り返し部19は防漏壁として機能する。特許文献3に記載のおむつによれば、前記防漏壁に吸収性があるために体液吸収に有効な面積が大きく、着用者の肌に当接する部分の全面が尿の吸収に寄与することによって材料の無駄がないとされている。幅方向屈曲構造部分7′は、吸収体本体2における、該吸収体本体2を容易に折り返すことが可能に加工された線状部分であり、具体的には、スリット又は被切断部である(特許文献3の[0027]及び[0028])。

 本発明は、着用時に着用者の腹側に配される腹側部と着用者の背側に配される背側部とその間に位置する股下部とを有するとともに、該腹側部から該股下部を介して該背側部に延びる縦方向と該縦方向に直交する横方向とを有し、体液を吸収保持する吸収性コアと、該吸収性コアの肌対向面側に配置され、着用時に着用者の肌と接触する表面シートと、該吸収性コアの前記縦方向に沿う両側部に対応して配置され、前記腹側部から前記背側部にわたって該縦方向に延在する一対の縦方向伸縮部とを備える、吸収性物品に関する。
 本発明の吸収性物品の一実施形態において、前記吸収性コアの坪量が所定の範囲にある高坪量部と、前記背側部に位置し、該高坪量部に比べて該吸収性コアの坪量が小さい背側低坪量部と有し、該背側低坪量部は、該高坪量部よりも前記縦方向の外方に位置して該高坪量部に隣接していることが好ましい。
 本発明の吸収性物品の一実施形態において、一対の前記縦方向伸縮部は、それぞれ、前記背側低坪量部と前記縦方向において同位置にある部分を有していることが好ましい。
 本発明の吸収性物品の一実施形態において、着用時に前記表面シートにおける前記背側低坪量部に位置する部分の肌対向面に、該部分が変形してなる背側襞が前記横方向に延在していることが好ましい。

発明の詳細な説明
 本発明は、体液の漏れ防止性能に優れた吸収性物品に関する。
 本発明の他の特徴、効果及び実施形態は、以下に説明される。
 以下、本発明をその好ましい実施形態に基づき図面を参照しながら説明する。なお、複数の図面どうしで互いに同一の部分には、共通の符号を付している。図面は基本的に模式的なものであり、寸法、ある部分と他の部分との寸法比などは、現実のものとは異なる場合がある。
 図1~4には、本発明の吸収性物品の一実施形態であるパンツ型使い捨ておむつ1が示されている。おむつ1は、着用時に着用者の腹側に配される腹側部Fと、着用者の背側に配される背側部Rと、腹側部Fと背側部Rとの間に位置する股下部Mとを有するとともに、腹側部Fから股下部Mを介して背側部Rに延び、着用者の前後方向に対応する縦方向Xと、縦方向Xに直交する横方向Yとを有する。また、おむつ1は、体液を吸収保持する吸収性コア5と、吸収性コア5の肌対向面側に配置され、着用時に着用者の肌と接触する表面シート3と、吸収性コア5の縦方向Xに沿う両側部に対応して配置され、腹側部Fから背側部Rにわたって縦方向Xに延在する一対の縦方向伸縮部70,70とを備える。
 本実施形態では、おむつ1は、図2及び3に示すように、吸収性コア5の肌対向面側に配置され、着用時に着用者の肌側に向かって起立する起立部を有する防漏カフ7を備えているところ、該起立部が縦方向伸縮部70である。
 股下部Mは、おむつ1の縦中心線CL1を縦方向Xに跨いで縦方向Xに延在している。縦中心線CL1は、図2に示す如き展開且つ伸長状態のおむつ1を縦方向Xに二等分して横方向Yに延びる仮想直線である。
 股下部Mは、着用者の陰茎等の排泄部に対向する排泄部対向部(図示せず)を含み、典型的には、おむつ1において横方向Yの長さ(幅)が最も短い部分を含む。
 本発明において、腹側部F、股下部M及び背側部Rは、展開且つ伸長状態の吸収性物品を縦方向Xに三等分した場合の各領域であり得る。
 本明細書において、「展開且つ伸長状態」とは、吸収性物品を平面状に拡げて展開状態とし、その展開状態の吸収性物品の各部の弾性部材を伸長させて、設計寸法、すなわち弾性部材の影響を一切排除した状態で平面状に広げたときの寸法と同じとなるまで拡げた状態をいう。パンツ型使い捨ておむつの如き、サイドシール部を有する吸収性物品の場合は、該吸収性物品をサイドシール部で切り離して平面状に拡げて前記展開状態とする。
 本実施形態では、おむつ1は、吸収性コア5を含む吸収性本体2と、吸収性本体2の非肌対向面側に配置された外装体10とを備える。吸収性本体2と外装体10とは接着剤等の公知の接合手段によって接合されている。
 本明細書において「肌対向面」は、吸収性物品又はその構成部材(例えば吸収性コア)における、吸収性物品の着用時に着用者の肌側に向けられる面、すなわち、着用者の肌から相対的に近い側であり、「非肌対向面」は、吸収性物品又はその構成部材における、吸収性物品の着用時に肌側とは反対側に向けられる面、すなわち、着用者の肌から相対的に遠い側である。なお、ここでいう「着用時」は、通常の適正な着用位置、すなわち、当該吸収性物品の正しい着用位置が維持された状態を意味する。
 吸収性本体2は、着用者の肌から相対的に近い位置に配置された液透過性の表面シート3と、着用者の肌から相対的に遠い位置に配置された液不透過性若しくは液難透過性又は撥水性の裏面シート4と、両シート3,4間に介在配置された吸収性コア5と、吸収性コア5の肌対向面又は非肌対向面と接触する部分を有するコアラップシート6とを含んで構成されている。吸収性本体2を構成するこれらの部材どうしは、接着剤等の公知の接合手段により一体とされている。表面シート3は、おむつ1の肌対向面側の最表層を形成し、おむつ1の着用中に着用者の肌と接触し得る。
 コアラップシート6は、吸収性コア5の肌対向面と接触する部分を有する肌側シート6Aと、吸収性コア5の非肌対向面と接触する部分を有する非肌側シート6Bとを含む。本実施形態では、コアラップシート6は1枚のシートであり、肌側シート6A及び非肌側シート6Bは、それぞれ、該1枚のシートの一部であるが、本発明では、コアラップシートの形態はこれに限定されず、肌側シート6Aと非肌側シート6Bとは互いに別個のシートであってもよい。すなわちコアラップシート6は、複数のシート6A,6Bを含んで構成されていてもよい。
 本実施形態では、表面シート3、裏面シート4及びコアラップシート6は、それぞれ、吸収性コア5の周縁から外方に延出する延出部を有している。
 すなわち表面シート3は、吸収性コア5の肌対向面の全域を被覆し、且つ図3に示すように、吸収性コア5の肌対向面側から吸収性コア5の縦方向Xに沿う両側縁部(横方向Yの両端部)を介して吸収性コア5の非肌対向面側にわたって延在しているとともに、図4に示すように、腹側部F及び背側部Rにおいて吸収性コア5の縦方向端5Xから縦方向Xの外方に延出している。
 また、裏面シート4は、吸収性コア5の非肌対向面の全域を被覆し、且つ図3に示すように、吸収性コア5の縦方向Xに沿う両側縁から横方向Yの外方に延出しているとともに、図4に示すように、腹側部F及び背側部Rにおいて吸収性コア5の縦方向端5Xから縦方向Xの外方に延出している。
 また、コアラップシート6(6A,6B)は、図4に示すように、腹側部F及び背側部Rにおいて吸収性コア5の縦方向端5Xから縦方向Xの外方に延出している。なお、本技術分野では、吸収性コア5とコアラップシート6とが重なる部分は「吸収体」と呼ばれることがある。
 表面シート3、裏面シート4及びコアラップシート6としては、それぞれ、この種の吸収性物品において通常使用されているものを特に制限なく用いることができる。表面シート3及びコアラップシート6としては、液透過性を有する各種のシートを用いることができ、例えば、不織布、織布、紙が挙げられる。裏面シート4としては、防漏性を有するシート、具体的には液不透過性(液を全く通さない性質)又は液難透過性(液不透過性とまでは言えないものの、液を通し難い性質)を有するシートを用いることができ、例えば、透湿性の樹脂フィルム、該樹脂フィルムと不織布との積層体が挙げられる。
 吸収性コア5は、吸水性材料を主体として構成されている。前記吸水性材料としては、例えば、親水性繊維及び吸水性ポリマーが挙げられ、これらの1種を単独で又は2種以上を組み合わせて用いることができる。前記親水性繊維としては、例えば、木材パルプ等の天然繊維、親水性合成繊維等を用いることができる。前記吸水性ポリマーとしては、この種の吸収体で従来使用されているものを特に制限なく用いることができ、例えば、アクリル酸又はアクリル酸アルカリ金属塩の重合物又は共重合物が挙げられる。
 本実施形態では、吸収性コア5は、図2に示すように、平面視において一方向に長い形状、具体的には長方形形状をなし、その長手方向をおむつ1の縦方向Xに一致させて、腹側部Fから股下部Mを介して背側部Rにわたって延在している。股下部Mは、着用者の排泄部から排泄された体液が集中する部位であるので、体液の吸収保持能を有する吸収性コア5は、少なくとも股下部Mに配置されることが好ましい。
 本実施形態では、吸収性コア5は単層構造であるが、複数の層が厚み方向に積層してなる積層構造を有していてもよい。
 本実施形態では、吸収性コア5は、図2及び3に示すように、縦方向Xに延在する凹部51を有している。凹部51は、少なくとも股下部Mに配置され、横中心線CL2を基準として一方側と他方側とで対称に形成されている。横中心線CL2は、展開且つ伸長状態のおむつ1を横方向Yに二等分して縦方向Xに延びる仮想直線である。
 凹部51は、肌対向面及び非肌対向面の少なくとも一方に開口を有していればよく、肌対向面及び非肌対向面の双方に開口を有する貫通タイプでもよく、肌対向面及び非肌対向面の一方に開口を有し、他方に底部を有する非貫通タイプでもよい。貫通タイプの凹部51は、吸収性コア5の形成材料(吸水性材料)が実質的に存在しない空間部からなる。本実施形態では、凹部51は貫通タイプである。
 凹部51は、尿等の体液が流れる流路として機能するとともに、吸収性コア5の屈曲誘導部として機能し得る。したがって、吸収性コア5が凹部51を有していることにより、吸収性コア5における液透過性ないし液拡散性が適切に制御され、おむつ1の防漏性の向上が期待できるとともに、おむつ1の着用中における吸収性コア5の好ましい変形が促進され、おむつ1の着用感の向上が期待できる。
 凹部51の形成方法の一例として、吸収性コア5の製造工程において、凹部51の形成予定部位に吸収性コア5の形成材料(吸水性材料)を堆積させない方法が挙げられる。凹部51の形成方法の他の一例として、形成材料の堆積量が均一な吸収性コア5の前駆体を製造し、該前駆体における凹部51の形成予定部位から形成材料を排除する方法が挙げられる。
 本実施形態のおむつ1は、図2及び3に示すように、股下部Mにおいて吸収性コア5の縦方向Xに沿う両側縁部それぞれに対応して縦方向Xに伸縮可能に配置されたコア伸縮用弾性部材52を備える。コア伸縮用弾性部材52を配置する目的の1つは、おむつ1の着用時において、図3(b)に示すように、股下部Mにおける吸収性コア5の横方向Yの両側部(前記側縁部及びその近傍)、より具体的には、吸収性コア5における凹部51よりも横方向Yの外方に位置する部分を着用者の肌側に向かって起立させるためであり、これにより、おむつ1のフィット性及び防漏性の一層の向上が期待できる。コア伸縮用弾性部材52は、少なくとも股下部Mに配置されていればよく、股下部Mから腹側部F及び/又は背側部Rに延出していてもよい。また、コア伸縮用弾性部材52は、吸収性コア5の縦方向Xに沿う側縁部に対応して配置、すなわち、該側縁部又はその近傍に配置されていればよく、該側縁部に接触していなくてもよい。例えば、図示の形態では、コア伸縮用弾性部材52は吸収性コア5とコアラップシート6との間に配置されているが、コアラップシート6と表面シート3との間に配置されていてもよい。コア伸縮用弾性部材52は、吸収性コア5等の他の部材に接着剤等の公知の固定手段により伸長状態で固定される。
 外装体10は、おむつ1の外面を形成する外層シート11と、おむつ1の内面を形成する内層シート12とを含む。両シート11,12どうしは、接着剤により互いに接合され一体化されている。外装体10は、図2に示す如き展開且つ伸長状態のおむつ1の外形を形作っており、外装体10の周縁は、展開且つ伸長状態のおむつ1の輪郭線を形成している。外装体10は、股下部Mに括れ部を有している。
 おむつ1は、図1に示すように、一対のサイドシール部S,Sを有しているところ、一対のサイドシール部S,Sは、外装体10における腹側部F及び背側部Rそれぞれの縦方向Xに沿う両側縁部どうしが、ヒートシール、超音波シール等による融着;接着剤等の公知の接合手段によって接合されて形成されている。おむつ1における一対のサイドシール部S,Sを含む環状の部分は、着用者の胴周りに配置される胴周り部である。おむつ1は、前記胴周り部に着用者の胴が通されるウエスト開口部WHを有するとともに、該胴周り部の下方(股下部M側)に、着用者の下肢が通される一対のレッグ開口部LH,LHを有する。
 前記胴周り部には、複数の糸状の胴周り弾性部材13が、一対のサイドシール部S,Sの間を横方向Yに延在しているとともに、縦方向Xに間欠配置されている。胴周り弾性部材13は、外層シート11及び内層シート12の少なくとも一方の表面に横方向Yに伸長状態で固定されており、横方向Yに弾性伸縮性を有し、自然状態では収縮している。おむつ1の着用時には、胴周り弾性部材13の収縮により、前記胴周り部が着用者の胴周りに密着し、その際、該胴周り部の表面(肌対向面及び非肌対向面)に、胴周り弾性部材13の延在方向(横方向Y)と交差する方向に延びる複数の襞(胴周りギャザー)が形成される。また、一対のレッグ開口部LH,LHそれぞれの開口縁部には糸状の脚周り弾性部材14が配置されている。脚周り弾性部材14は、その配置部位を構成するシート(本実施形態では、外層シート11及び内層シート12)に伸長状態で固定されており、自然状態では収縮している。おむつ1の着用時には、脚周り弾性部材14の収縮により、レッグ開口部LHの開口縁部の全周に複数の襞(レッグギャザー)が形成される。なお、胴周り弾性部材13及び脚周り弾性部材14の伸縮による吸収性コア5の意図しない変形を防止する等の観点から、両弾性部材13,14における吸収性コア5と平面視で重なる部分は、複数に分断される等して伸縮性が阻害される場合がある。
 本実施形態では、図1、2及び4に示すように、背側部Rにおける外装体10(外層シート11)の非肌対向面に廃棄用テープ15が配置されている。廃棄用テープ15は、おむつ1を丸めて廃棄する場合にそのおむつ1の丸めた状態を維持するために使用されるもので、外装体10との固定部と、該固定部を起点として展開可能に配置された自由部とを含む。廃棄用テープ15としては、この種の吸収性物品において採用されているものを特に制限なく用いることができる。
 防漏カフ7は、図2及び3に示すように、吸収性コア5の肌対向面側において吸収性コア5の横方向Yの両側部に対応して一対配置されている。一対の防漏カフ7,7は、横中心線CL2を基準として一方側と他方側とで対称に形成されている。防漏カフ7は、腹側部Fから股下部Mを介して背側部Rにわたって縦方向Xに延在するカフ用シート8と、カフ用シート8に固定され、少なくとも股下部Mにおいて縦方向Xに伸縮可能なカフ用弾性部材9とを備える。
 カフ用シート8は、表面シート3とともに、おむつ1の肌対向面側の最表層を形成し、おむつ1の着用中に着用者の肌と接触し得る。カフ用シート8は、図2に示すように、縦方向Xの両端部に他の部材(本実施形態では表面シート3)との固定部80を一対有している。一対の固定部80,80の一方は、腹側部Fに配置され、他方は背側部Rに配置されている。また、カフ用シート8における一対の固定部80,80に挟まれた部分は、図3に示すように、横方向Yの一端部側に他の部材(本実施形態では、表面シート3及び裏面シート4)との固定部81を有し、他端部側が自由縁部82である。カフ用シート8の前記一端部側は、吸収性コア5の非肌対向面側に配置されている。固定部80,81におけるカフ用シート8と他の部材との固定手段は特に限定されず、例えば、接着剤又は融着であり得る。
 本実施形態では、カフ用弾性部材9は、カフ用シート8の自由縁部82に配置されたカフ用第1弾性部材9Aと、固定部81(横方向Yの最外方に位置する固定部81)と自由縁部82との間に配置されたカフ用第2弾性部材9Bとを含む。より具体的には、カフ用シート8は、該カフ用シート8が横方向Yに折り畳まれてなる二層構造を有し、該二層構造を構成する相対向するカフ用シート8,8の間に、糸状のカフ用弾性部材9が縦方向Xに伸長状態で固定されている。
 前述したとおり、防漏カフ7は、前記起立部として縦方向伸縮部70を有しているところ、防漏カフ7におけるカフ用弾性部材9が伸長状態で固定された部分(図2において点線で示すカフ用弾性部材9が存在する部分)が縦方向伸縮部70である。縦方向伸縮部70は、吸収性コア5の縦方向Xに沿う側部に対応して配置され、腹側部Fから背側部Rにわたって縦方向Xに延在し、縦方向Xに伸縮性を有する。おむつ1の着用時には、図3(b)に示すように、縦方向伸縮部70が着用者の肌側に向かって起立し、それにより、尿等の排泄された体液がおむつ1から横方向Yの外方へ流出する不都合(いわゆる横漏れ)が効果的に防止される。また、図示していないが、縦方向伸縮部70の起立状態では、カフ用弾性部材9の収縮により、おむつ1の全体が、吸収性本体2の縦方向Xの中央部が非肌対向面側(裏面シート4側)に凸となるように湾曲変形するため、おむつ1が着用者の身体形状にフィットしやすくなる。
 カフ用シート8としては、この種の吸収性物品において防漏カフの素材として用いられているものを特に制限無く用いることができ、例えば、単層又は多層の撥水性不織布、樹脂フィルムと不織布との積層体等を用いることができる。
 一対の防漏カフ7,7それぞれにおけるカフ用弾性部材9の配置数は特に制限されず、1本でも複数本でもよい。カフ用弾性部材9の主な目的の1つは、おむつ1の着用時に防漏カフ7(カフ用シート8)を着用者の肌側に向かって起立させることであるところ、この目的を達成するためには、少なくともカフ用シート8の自由縁部82に1本以上のカフ用弾性部材9が配置されていればよい。したがって、カフ用第2弾性部材9Bは無くてもよい。
 おむつ1は、図4に示すように、吸収性コア5の坪量が所定の範囲にある高坪量部55と、背側部Rに位置し、高坪量部55に比べて吸収性コア5の坪量が小さい背側低坪量部56Rとを有している。背側低坪量部56Rは、高坪量部55よりも縦方向Xの外方に位置して高坪量部55に隣接している。
 本実施形態では、高坪量部55は背側部Rに位置しているが、本発明では、高坪量部55の位置は背側部Rに限定されず、股下部Mに位置していてもよい。
 本実施形態では、背側低坪量部56Rにおける吸収性コア5の坪量がゼロである。具体的には本実施形態では、凹部51を除き、吸収性コア5の坪量は均一であり、その均一な坪量の吸収性コア5は、図4に示すように、股下部Mの縦方向Xの全長にわたって縦方向Xに延在し、更に腹側部F及び背側部Rそれぞれに延出しているところ、背側部Rに高坪量部55(吸収性コア5の存在領域)と背側低坪量部56R(吸収性コア5の非存在領域)とが存在し、吸収性コア5の背側部R側の縦方向端5Xが両者の境界である。背側低坪量部56Rには、吸収性コア5の形成材料(吸水性材料)が存在しない代わりに、表面シート3、裏面シート4、コアラップシート6(肌側シート6A、非肌側シート6B)及び外装体10(外層シート11、内層シート12)が存在している。
 背側低坪量部56Rにおける吸収性コア5の坪量がゼロでない場合、背側低坪量部56Rにおける吸収性コア5の坪量と高坪量部55における吸収性コア5の坪量との比率は、背側低坪量部56と高坪量部55との剛性差を適切に調整して、後述する背側襞20の形成を一層確実なものとする観点から、前者<後者を前提として、前者/後者として、好ましくは0.2以上、より好ましくは0.3以上、そして、好ましくは0.8以下、より好ましくは0.7以下である。
 高坪量部55における吸収性コア5の坪量は、吸収性コア5の液吸収能とおむつ1の着用感とのバランス等の観点から、好ましくは250g/m以上700g/m以下である。
 本実施形態では、おむつ1は、背側部Rのみならず腹側部Fにも、背側低坪量部56Rの如き、相対的に吸収性コア5の坪量が小さい低坪量部を有している。すなわち図4に示すように、本実施形態のおむつ1は、腹側部Fに、高坪量部55と、高坪量部55に比べて吸収性コア5の坪量が小さい腹側低坪量部56Fとを有している。腹側低坪量部56Fは、高坪量部55よりも縦方向Xの外方に位置して高坪量部55に隣接している。本実施形態では、腹側低坪量部56Fにおける吸収性コア5の坪量がゼロである。すなわち本実施形態では、腹側部Fに高坪量部55と腹側低坪量部56F(吸収性コア5の非存在領域)とが存在し、吸収性コア5の腹側部F側の縦方向端5Xが両者の境界である。
 図2に示すように、一対の縦方向伸縮部70,70は、それぞれ、背側低坪量部56Rと縦方向Xにおいて同位置にある部分を有している。換言すれば、一対の縦方向伸縮部70,70及び背側低坪量部56Rをそれぞれ横方向Yに投影した場合、一対の縦方向伸縮部70,70それぞれの投影像と背側低坪量部56Rの投影像とで少なくとも一部が重なる。
 おむつ1は、図2及び4に示すように、その着用時に表面シート3における背側低坪量部56Rに位置する部分の肌対向面に、該部分が変形してなる背側襞20が横方向Yに延在している点で特徴付けられる。前述したとおり、背側低坪量部56Rは高坪量部55と縦方向Xにおいて隣接しているので、斯かる特徴を有するおむつ1においては、背側襞20の形成領域(図2に示す如きおむつ1の肌対向面側の平面視において、背側襞20の全体を包囲する仮想的な四角形のうち面積が最小のもので包囲された領域)と該形成領域よりも縦方向Xの内方に位置する領域(高坪量部55)との間に坪量差が存在する。背側襞20は、典型的には、図4に示すように、表面シート3における背側低坪量部56Rに位置する部分の一部が、その非肌対向面を内側にして縦方向Xに折り畳まれる、換言すれば、横方向Yに延びる仮想線を折り目として折り畳まれることで形成される。
 背側低坪量部56Rに背側襞20が形成される理由は、背側低坪量部56Rと縦方向Xにおいて同位置に、縦方向Xに伸縮性を有する一対の縦方向伸縮部70,70が配置されているためである。前述したように、一対の縦方向伸縮部70,70は、吸収性コア5の縦方向Xに沿う両側部に対応して配置されているので、背側低坪量部56Rは、一対の縦方向伸縮部70,70の一方と他方とで挟まれた部分を有している。したがって、おむつ1の着用時において一対の縦方向伸縮部70,70が縦方向Xに収縮すると、その収縮力が一対の縦方向伸縮部70,70に挟まれた領域に作用し、該領域において吸収性コア5の坪量が比較的小さくそれ故に比較的剛性が低い背側低坪量部56Rの表面シート3に背側襞20が形成される。背側襞20は、表面シート3の肌対向面を伝い流れる軟便等の体液を堰き止める防漏壁として機能する。したがって、おむつ1によれば、背側部R側の縦方向Xの端部から体液が外部に漏れ出す不都合が防止される。特に、便漏れは、腹側部Fよりも背側部R側で多発する傾向があるので、背側襞20は便漏れ防止に有効である。
 背側襞20の如き、吸収性物品の縦方向端部からの漏れを防止するための防漏壁は特許文献1~3にも記載されているが、これらの文献に記載されている防漏壁は、表面シートを折り込んでタックを形成したり、複数の表面シートを縦方向に重なり合うように配置したり、吸収体をスリット等の線状の屈曲構造部分で折り返したりして形成されており、何れも、縦方向伸縮部70の如き縦方向に伸縮性を有する部分の存在とは無関係に、吸収性物品の構成部材の折り曲げ工程を経て形成されるものである。これに対し背側襞20は、縦方向伸縮部70が縦方向Xに収縮することで背側低坪量部56Rに形成されるものであり、前記折り曲げ工程を経て形成されるものではない。また、縦方向伸縮部70は、本来的には前述したように防漏カフ7の起立部として採用されたものであり、背側襞20を形成するためだけに採用されたものではない。つまり背側襞20は、前記折り曲げ工程のような、背側襞20の形成を目的とした特殊な工程を要せずに、防漏カフのような吸収性物品における一般的な構成部材のみで形成され得るものである。したがって、おむつ1に代表される本発明の吸収性物品は、従来公知の吸収性物品と基本構成が同様の比較的シンプルな構成を有しながらも、従来公知の吸収性物品に比べて体液の漏れ防止性能に優れたものと言える。
 なお、着用時に表面シート3における腹側低坪量部56Fに位置する部分の肌対向面に、該部分が変形してなる腹側襞(図示せず)が横方向Yに延在する場合があり得るが、典型的には、背側襞20は、該腹側襞に比べて高さが高い。その理由は、図2に示すように、腹側低坪量部56Fは、一対の縦方向伸縮部70,70それぞれよりも縦方向Xの外方に位置し、これらと縦方向Xにおいて同位置にある部分を有していないことに起因して、これらが縦方向Xにおける収縮した際の収縮力の影響を受けにくいためである。つまり、背側襞20は、典型的には、この種の吸収性物品において表面シートに形成される通常の襞(皺)よりも高さが高い点で、該襞(皺)と区別できる。
 背側襞20は、典型的には図2に示すように、背側低坪量部56Rのみに存在し、高坪量部55には存在しない。すなわち典型的には、図2に示す如きおむつ1の肌対向面側(表面シート3側)の平面視において、背側襞20の全体が背側低坪量部56Rと重なる。ただし、縦方向伸縮部70の伸縮特性、表面シート3の種類等によっては、背側襞20が背側低坪量部56R及び高坪量部55の双方に跨って存在する場合があり得る。
 背側襞20の高さ20H(図4参照)は、防漏機能の向上の観点からは高いほど好ましく、具体的には、好ましくは1mm以上、より好ましくは3mm以上である。ここで言う「背側襞20の高さ」は、おむつ1が自然状態(おむつ1に外力が作用していない状態)であるか、伸長状態であるかを問わず、背側襞20の最大高さを指す。背側襞20の高さ20Hの上限は特に制限されないが、前述したとおり、背側襞20は主として背側低坪量部56Rと縦方向Xにおいて同位置に一対の縦方向伸縮部70,70を配置することで形成されるものであり、このような比較的シンプルな吸収性物品の構成によって、十分な防漏機能を有する背側襞20を安定的に形成する観点から、好ましくは12mm以下、より好ましくは10mm以下である。
 背側襞20の高さ20Hは、例えば、縦方向伸縮部70の伸縮特性、表面シート3の種類等を適宜調整することで調整可能である。縦方向伸縮部70の伸縮特性は、例えば、縦方向伸縮部70を構成するカフ用弾性部材9の伸長率、太さ等を調整することで調整可能である。
 背側襞20は、典型的には、図2に示すように、平面視において縦方向Xの外方に向かって凸に湾曲している。斯かる背側襞20の平面視における凸の頂部は、背側低坪量部56Rの横方向Yの中央部に位置し、該背側襞20の横方向Yの両端は、該頂部よりも縦方向Xの内方側における高坪量部55と背側低坪量部56Rとの境界(本実施形態では、吸収性コア5の背側部R側の縦方向端5X)又はその近傍に位置している。背側襞20がこのような平面視湾曲形状を有していることにより、背側襞20による体液の堰き止め機能が一層向上し得る。斯かる平面視湾曲状の背側襞20としては、図2に示す如き、横方向Yに連続する1つの背側襞20からなる形態の他に、図示していないが、複数の小さな襞が横方向Yに実質的に連結することで全体として1つの背側襞20を形成する形態があり得る。また、図2に示す形態では、背側襞20の一部(横方向Yの両端部)のみが一対の縦方向伸縮部70,70と縦方向Xにおいて同位置にあるが、背側襞20の全体が一対の縦方向伸縮部70,70と縦方向Xにおいて同位置にある場合もあり得る。
 背側襞20の平面視形状は、例えば、縦方向伸縮部70の伸縮特性、表面シート3の種類等を適宜調整することで調整可能である。
 背側襞20の横方向Yに沿う長さ20Ly(図2参照)は、吸収性コア5の横方向Yの最大長さに対して、好ましくは40%以上、より好ましくは50%以上、そして、好ましくは100%以下、より好ましくは95%以下である。
 背側襞20の長さ20Lyは、好ましくは50mm以上、より好ましくは60mm以上、そして、好ましくは135mm以下、より好ましくは130mm以下である。
 背側襞20の長さ20Lyは、例えば、縦方向伸縮部70の伸縮特性、表面シート3の種類等を適宜調整することで調整可能である。
 背側襞20は、図4に示すように、その先端部20Tが股下部Mを向くように方向付けられている、換言すれば、背側襞20が股下部M側に傾斜していることが好ましい。軟便等の体液は通常、股下部M側から背側襞20に向かって流れてくるところ、背側襞20がこのように方向付けられていることで、背側襞20の防漏機能の一層の向上が期待できる。背側襞20の斯かる方向付けは、例えば、縦方向伸縮部70の伸縮特性、表面シート3の種類等を適宜調整することで調整可能である。
 本実施形態では、おむつ1は前述したとおり、吸収性コア5の肌対向面又は非肌対向面と接触する部分を有するコアラップシート6(6A,6B)を備えているところ、背側襞20はコアラップシート6と平面視で重なる。より具体的には、本実施形態では図4に示すように、背側低坪量部56Rには、コアラップシート6の配置領域よりも縦方向Xの外方に、外装体10のみが配置されたコアラップシート6の非配置領域が存在するが、背側襞20はコアラップシート6の配置領域と平面視で重なり、コアラップシート6の非配置領域とは平面視で重ならない。このように、コアラップシート6と平面視で重なる位置に背側襞20が存在することで、背側襞20による防漏効果の一層の向上が期待できる。
 図4に示す形態では、背側襞20は、表面シート3のみから構成されているが、縦方向伸縮部70の伸縮特性、背側低坪量部56Rに存在する表面シート3以外の他の部材の種類等次第では、背側襞20の内部に該他の部材が存在する場合があり得る。
 例えば図5に示す形態では、背側襞20の内部に、コアラップシート6が存在している。より具体的には、図5に示す形態では、コアラップシート6が肌側シート6A及び非肌側シート6Bを含むところ、背側襞20の内部、すなわち折り畳まれた二層構造の表面シート3の一方と他方との間には両シート6A,6Bがそれぞれ折り込まれている。本発明では、図5に示す形態の変形例として、背側襞20の内部に肌側シート6Aのみが存在し、非肌側シート6Bは存在しない形態が含まれる。
 コアラップシート6(6A,6B)は、典型的には、体液を吸収可能な素材(不織布、織布、紙等)から形成されているため、背側襞20の内部にコアラップシート6が存在することで、背側襞20の体液吸収能が向上し、防漏機能の一層の向上が期待できる。
 本実施形態では前述したとおり、背側低坪量部56Rにおける吸収性コア5の坪量がゼロであり、背側低坪量部56Rに吸収性コア5は配置されていないが、本発明では、背側低坪量部56Rに吸収性コア5が配置されている場合がある。その場合、背側襞20の内部に、吸収性コア5(具体的には、吸収性コア5における、高坪量部55に配置された部分に比べて坪量が小さい部分)が存在する形態(以下、「形態A」とも言う。)があり得る。前記形態Aの一例として、背側襞20の内部に、背側襞20を構成する表面シート3に近い順に、肌側シート6A、吸収性コア5及び非肌側シート6Bがそれぞれ折り込まれた形態が挙げられる。
 前記形態Aによれば、背側襞20の内部に吸収性コア5が存在するため、背側襞20の体液吸収能が向上し、防漏機能の一層の向上が期待できる。
 本実施形態では前述したとおり、吸収性コア5の非肌対向面側に裏面シート4が配置されているところ、本発明では、背側襞20の内部に裏面シート4が存在する形態(以下、「形態B」とも言う。)があり得る。前記形態Bの一例として、背側襞20の内部に、背側襞20を構成する表面シート3に近い順に、コアラップシート6(6A及び/又は6B)及び裏面シート4がそれぞれ折り込まれた形態が挙げられる。前記形態Bの他の一例として、前記形態Bの一例において、コアラップシート6を構成する肌側シート6Aと非肌側シート6Bとの間に吸収性コア5が折り込まれた形態が挙げられる。
 裏面シート4は、典型的には、防漏性を有するシートから形成されているため、前記形態Bによれば、背側襞20の防漏機能の一層の向上が期待できる。
 本実施形態では前述したとおり、おむつ1が吸収性本体2と外装体10とを備えているところ、本発明では、背側襞20の内部に外装体10(外層シート11及び/又は内層シート12)が存在する形態(以下、「形態C」とも言う。)があり得る。前記形態Cの一例として、背側襞20の内部に、背側襞20を構成する表面シート3に近い順に、コアラップシート6(6A及び/又は6B)、裏面シート4及び外装体10がそれぞれ折り込まれた形態が挙げられる。前記形態Cの他の一例として、前記形態Cの一例において、肌側シート6Aと非肌側シート6Bとの間に吸収性コア5が折り込まれた形態が挙げられる。
 背側襞20の内部に外装体10が存在することで、これが存在しない場合に比べて背側襞20のサイズ(高さ等)が大きくなるため、前記形態Cによれば、背側襞20の防漏機能の一層の向上が期待できる。
 背側襞20の内部に外装体10が存在する前記形態Cの変形例として、外装体10における背側襞20と平面視で重なる部分の非肌対向面に、吸収性物品を廃棄する際に利用される廃棄用テープが固定されている形態が挙げられる。例えば、おむつ1では図2に示すように、平面視で背側襞20と廃棄用テープ15とが重なっているところ、この背側襞20の内部に外装体10が存在する形態(図示せず)が、前記形態Cの変形例に該当する。前記形態Cの変形例では、背側襞20の内部に折り込まれた二層構造の外装体10における一方と他方とが廃棄用テープ15によって固定されているため、当該吸収性物品が自然状態であるか、着用状態であるか、図2に示す如き展開且つ伸長状態であるかを問わず、背側襞20は常時存在し、そのため、背側襞20による防漏効果が一層確実に奏される。
 本発明は、吸収性物品全般に適用できる。ここで言う「吸収性物品」には、人体から排出される体液(尿、軟便、経血、汗等)の吸収に用いられる物品が広く包含され、前記実施形態であるパンツ型使い捨ておむつの他に、例えば、展開型使い捨ておむつ、生理用ショーツ、失禁パッド等が包含される。前記展開型使い捨ておむつは、未使用状態において腹側部と背側部とが連結しておらず、着用者の胴回りに配置される胴周り部が環状をなしていない使い捨ておむつであり、典型的には、背側部にファスニングテープが設けられており、使用時には、該ファスニングテープを腹側部の非肌対向面に止着させて身体に装着する。
 以上、本発明をその好ましい実施形態に基づき説明したが、本発明は前記実施形態に限定されず、本発明の所定の効果が阻害されない範囲で適宜変更可能である。
 例えば前記実施形態では、防漏カフ7の起立部が本発明に係る縦方向伸縮部であったが、該縦方向伸縮部は、吸収性コア5の縦方向Xに沿う側部に対応して配置され、腹側部Fから背側部Rにわたって縦方向Xに延在し、且つ縦方向Xに伸縮性を有するものであればよく、防漏カフ7の一部に限定されない。例えば、コア伸縮用弾性部材52が背側低坪量部56Rと縦方向Xにおいて同位置にある部分を有することを条件として、該コア伸縮用弾性部材52が本発明に係る縦方向伸縮部であり得る。
 また前記実施形態では、外装体10は、腹側部Fから股下部Mを介して背側部Rにわたって連続するタイプの外装体であったが、腹側に配される部材と背側に配される部材とに分割された分割タイプの外装体であってもよい。
 前述した本発明の実施形態に関し、更に以下の付記を開示する。

  1.  着用時に着用者の腹側に配される腹側部と着用者の背側に配される背側部とその間に位
    置する股下部とを有するとともに、該腹側部から該股下部を介して該背側部に延びる縦方向と該縦方向に直交する横方向とを有し、
     体液を吸収保持する吸収性コアと、該吸収性コアの肌対向面側に配置され、着用時に着用者の肌と接触する表面シートと、該吸収性コアの前記縦方向に沿う両側部に対応して配置され、前記腹側部から前記背側部にわたって該縦方向に延在する一対の縦方向伸縮部とを備える、吸収性物品であって、
     前記吸収性コアの坪量が所定の範囲にある高坪量部と、前記背側部に位置し、該高坪量部に比べて該吸収性コアの坪量が小さい背側低坪量部とを有し、該背側低坪量部は、該高坪量部よりも前記縦方向の外方に位置して該高坪量部に隣接しており、
