Definitions
- the present invention relates to a breathable waterproof member, a box girder, and a box girder bridge, and in particular to a breathable waterproof member to which a hollow structure is attached, a box girder to which the breathable waterproof member is attached, and a box girder bridge equipped with the box girder.
- Patent Document 1 As a means of improving this inconvenience, for example, as disclosed in Patent Document 1, it is possible to provide one or more condensation prevention ventilation holes in the web plate (side wall) of the box girder.
- the anti-condensation vent disclosed in Patent Document 1 is believed to have a diameter large enough to allow small animals such as birds to enter the box girder, as part of the document states that "the anti-condensation vent is provided with a protective net to prevent animals from entering the box girder.” Therefore, it is difficult to prevent water from entering the anti-condensation vent disclosed in Patent Document 1. On the other hand, it is currently difficult to drill holes smaller than about ⁇ 30 mm in the steel plates used for the girder.
- a breathable waterproof member for mounting a hollow structure, the breathable waterproof member having a main body made of a solid material and having a predetermined three-dimensional shape that can be mounted in a state of being inserted into a through hole formed in the hollow structure, and a plurality of ventilation holes provided in the main body that can prevent the intrusion of liquid.
- a box girder having a hollow structure with a pair of side walls arranged opposite each other and each extending in a single axial direction, in which a plurality of through holes are formed in a predetermined arrangement in at least one of the pair of side walls, and a breathable waterproof member according to the first aspect is attached to each of the plurality of through holes.
- a box girder bridge comprising a box girder according to the second aspect and a deck slab attached to the box girder with the one-axis direction being the bridge axis direction.
- FIG. 1 is a perspective view showing a superstructure of a box girder bridge according to one embodiment.
- FIG. 2 is a perspective view showing a steel box girder that constitutes part of the superstructure of the box girder bridge of FIG. 3 is an enlarged perspective view of the breathable waterproof member of FIG. 2 .
- FIG. 4A to 4C are diagrams for explaining the function of a breathable waterproof member.
- FIG. 13 is a diagram showing another example of a box girder bridge.
- FIG. 1 shows a perspective view with some parts omitted of the superstructure of a box girder bridge 100 according to one embodiment.
- the box girder bridge 100 is a continuous girder bridge (or a simple girder bridge), and its superstructure comprises a steel box girder 10 and a concrete deck 20 provided on the steel box girder 10.
- the superstructure including the steel box girder 10 and the concrete deck 20 is supported from below by the substructure (not shown).
- the direction of gravity is defined as the Z-axis direction
- the bridge axis direction in a plane perpendicular to the direction of gravity is defined as the X-axis direction
- the width direction perpendicular to the bridge axis direction is defined as the Y-axis direction.
- the steel box girder 10 is provided with an upper flange 12 and a lower flange 14 that are arranged facing each other and spaced apart in the Z-axis direction, and a pair of webs 16A, 16B that are arranged facing each other and spaced apart in the Y-axis direction (width direction) between the upper flange 12 and the lower flange 14 and connect the upper flange 12 and the lower flange 14.
- the upper flange 12 and the lower flange 14 are both made of rectangular steel plates of a certain thickness that are elongated in one axis direction.
- the lower flange 14 is arranged parallel to the XY plane with the X-axis direction as its longitudinal direction.
- Each of the pair of webs 16A, 16B is made of rectangular steel plates of a certain thickness that are elongated in one axis direction, and is arranged on the lower flange 14 parallel to the XZ plane with the X-axis direction as its longitudinal direction.
- the upper flange 12 is arranged parallel to the lower flange on the pair of webs 16A, 16B.
- each of the pair of webs 16A, 16B is welded to the upper surface of the lower flange 14, and the lower surface of the upper flange 12 is welded to the upper end surface of each of the pair of webs 16A, 16B.
- a pair of side walls of the hollow steel box girder 10 are formed by the pair of webs 16A, 16B.
- both the upper flange 12 and the lower flange 14 protrude somewhat in the width direction beyond the pair of webs 16A, 16B, but at least one of them does not have to protrude.
- the internal space of the steel box girder 10 surrounded by the upper flange 12, the lower flange 14 and the pair of webs 16A, 16B is partitioned by steel plates with sufficient rigidity called diaphragms arranged at predetermined intervals in the bridge axis direction, and essentially multiple closed spaces are formed inside the steel box girder 10.
- the multiple diaphragms arranged at predetermined intervals inside prevent the cross-sectional shape of the steel box girder 10 from changing.
- a reinforcing rib 15 is provided on the upper surface of the lower flange 14, extending in the X-axis direction at the center of the width of the lower flange 14.
- a T-shaped steel 18 with an outer protrusion is arranged on the upper surface of the upper flange 12, at the center of the width of the upper flange 12, with its longitudinal direction being the bridge axis direction.
- the T-shaped steel with outer projections 18 is attached to the top surface of the upper flange 12 by welding, but it can be either factory-welded or on-site-welded, or a combination of factory-welded and on-site-welded.
- the attachment method is not limited to welding, and it can be joined with bolts via a joining member such as an angle steel material.
- buckling of the upper flange 12 is prevented by the reinforcing effect of the T-shaped steel 18 with external projections attached to the widthwise center of the upper surface of the upper flange 12.
- the reason why the attachment position of the T-shaped steel 18 with external projections to the upper surface of the upper flange 12 is the widthwise center of the upper flange 12 is to efficiently prevent buckling of the upper flange 12 over its entire surface.
- the T-shaped steel with external projections 18 has a flange 18a that has a reinforcing effect on the steel box girder 10, so the thickness of the upper flange 12 can be made thinner accordingly.
- linear external projections 18b are provided at predetermined intervals along the longitudinal direction of the T-shaped steel with external projections 18.
- the external projections 18b are arranged in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction (bridge axis direction) of the T-shaped steel with external projections 18, and their cross-sectional shape is not particularly limited.
- the T-shaped steel with external projections 18 is actually embedded inside the concrete deck 20.
- the concrete deck 20 is formed by pouring concrete on the upper surface of the upper flange 12 from the upper surface of the flange 18a of the T-shaped steel 18 with external projections to a specified height above. That is, in this way, the joint of the concrete deck 20 to the steel box girder 10 is constructed.
- the outer projections 18b provided on the upper surface of the flange 18a of the T-shaped steel 18 with external projections provide strong resistance to horizontal shear forces in the bridge axis direction due to adhesion, support pressure, and friction with the concrete, and the T-shaped steel 18 with external projections exhibits anti-slip performance against horizontal shear forces in the bridge axis direction equal to or greater than that of a stud dowel.
- the T-shaped steel 18 with external projections can also resist upward lift forces due to the support pressure between the underside of the flange 18a and the concrete 52, and in this respect also exhibits anti-slip performance.
- one T-shaped steel with an outer protrusion 18 is provided, but two or more may be provided depending on the width dimension of the upper flange 12.
- a stud dowel to prevent slippage may be provided at the joint between the steel box girder and the concrete deck without providing a T-shaped steel with an outer protrusion.
- a pair of webs 16A and 16B which respectively constitute both side walls in the width direction (Y axis direction) perpendicular to the bridge axis direction (X axis direction) of the steel box girder 10, have a plurality of through holes 17 formed at a predetermined interval in the bridge axis direction.
- the plurality of through holes 17 are formed at approximately the center position in the height direction of each web (or a position close to the upper flange 12).
- the through holes 17 are arranged in positions facing each other in one web 16A and the other web 16B.
- the plurality of through holes 17 may be arranged alternately in positions shifted from each other in the bridge axis direction in one web 16A and the other web 16B.
- the plurality of through holes 17 may be arranged not only in the bridge axis direction but also in the height direction in one web 16A and the other web 16B. In this case, the through holes 17 in one web 16A and the other web 16B may or may not face each other. Depending on where the steel box girder is installed, multiple through holes may be provided only in one of the webs, 16A and 16B. In this case, a ventilation means such as a ventilator may be used in combination.
- Each of the multiple through holes 17 is, for example, a circular hole with a diameter of about 30 mm.
- a breathable waterproof member 30 as shown in FIG. 3 is fitted tightly into each through hole 17.
- the through holes formed in web 16A or web 16B are not limited to circular holes, but may be elliptical, polygonal, or other shaped holes.
- the breathable waterproof member (main body) 30 is a disk-shaped (or cylindrical) member made of silicone rubber, a type of thermosetting elastomer, and has a plurality of ventilation holes 32 formed over the entire surface of its end face.
- the diameter of the breathable waterproof member 30 is set to be somewhat larger than the diameter of the through hole 17. This is because the breathable waterproof member 30 is compressed in the radial direction and fitted into the through hole 17, and the elasticity of the breathable waterproof member 30 is utilized to prevent a gap from being generated between the outer surface of the breathable waterproof member 30 and the inner surface of the through hole 17.
- elasticity refers to the property of an individual that is distorted when stress is applied but returns to its original dimensions when the load is removed, but in this specification, the term “elasticity” is used as a general term for shape elasticity (elasticity that appears due to deformation without volume change), elasticity, stretchability, deformability, etc. Hereinafter, it will also be referred to as stretchability (elasticity) as appropriate.
- a tapered portion may be provided on at least a part of the outer circumferential surface of the breathable waterproof member 30.
- the breathable waterproof member 30 may also be conical. In this case, it is preferable to set the diameter of the outer end face and the diameter of the inner end face so that the air hole is not crushed. The diameter may be set so that it gradually becomes larger toward the inside, or vice versa. In the former case, the breathable waterproof member is fitted from the inside of the box girder. In the latter case, it is fitted from the outside.
- the breathable waterproof member (main body) 30 has a plurality of ventilation holes 32 formed therein, which connect one side surface (one end surface) with the opposite side surface (the other end surface).
- the plurality of ventilation holes 32 are through holes with a circular cross section, and are arranged across the entire area (whole surface) of the end surface.
- the diameter of the ventilation holes 32 is set to about 2 mm, as an example.
- the arrangement of the ventilation holes within the end surface may be arbitrary.
- Parts (A), (B), and (C) of FIG. 4 show the breathable waterproof member 30 in a schematic form.
- the breathable waterproof member 30 has a vent hole (round hole) 32 with a diameter of 2 mm.
- gas (air, etc.) can enter and exit through the vent hole 32, but water (liquid) attached to the surface (end surface) of the breathable waterproof member 30 cannot pass through the vent hole 32.
- FIG. 4(C) water attached to the surface becomes a water mass (water droplets) due to the property (surface tension) of trying to make the surface as small as possible.
- the diameter (2 mm) of the vent hole 32 is smaller than the diameter of the water mass (water droplet), so the water mass (water droplet) cannot enter the air hole 32.
- the contact angle of water on the silicon surface is greater than 90 degrees, the water masses (droplets) barely come into contact with the breathable waterproof member 30, as shown in FIG. 4(C).
- the breathable waterproof member 30 allows air to enter and exit while preventing water from entering through the ventilation holes 32.
- the breathable waterproof member 30 has multiple ventilation holes 32, so air can enter and exit through the multiple ventilation holes 32 at the same time. Note that the ventilation holes 32 only need to be large enough to prevent water from entering, and their diameter should be approximately 1 mm to 2.8 mm.
- each ventilation hole 32 is set to a dimension that can prevent the intrusion of water droplets that adhere to one end face of the breathable waterproof member 30 (the face that faces the outer surface of the steel box girder 10 when the breathable waterproof member 30 is fitted into the through hole 17 of the web 16A (or 16B)).
- the shape (including size) of the water droplets is determined according to the surface tension of the water and the critical surface tension of the surface of the breathable waterproof member 30. In other words, the shape of the water droplets is determined according to the contact angle of water on the surface of the breathable waterproof member (on one end face).
- the contact angle means the angle that the liquid surface forms with the solid surface (here, the silicone rubber surface) at the boundary line where the three phases (solid phase, liquid phase, gas phase) come into contact when the solid surface (here, the silicone rubber surface) is in contact with the liquid (here, water) and gas (here, air).
- the diameter of the ventilation hole 32 may be changed depending on the contact angle of water (liquid) on the surface of the breathable waterproof member (on one end face), i.e., the material of the outer end face of the breathable waterproof member 30.
- the above-mentioned range of 1 mm to 2.8 mm can also be changed, with at least one of the lower limit and upper limit becoming larger or smaller depending on the contact angle.
- the cross-sectional shape of the ventilation hole 32 is not limited to a circle, but may be an ellipse, a polygon, or other shape, as long as it is large enough to prevent the intrusion of water droplets adhering to one end face of the breathable waterproof member 30.
- the diameter of the ventilation hole of the breathable waterproof member may be different between the outer end face and the inner end face.
- the above-mentioned diameter range of the ventilation hole 32 needs to be satisfied by at least the ventilation hole on the outer end face, and the diameter of the ventilation hole on the inner end face may be outside that range.
- the shape of the ventilation hole may be different between the outer end face and the inner end face.
- the breathable waterproof member 30 is a disk-shaped (or cylindrical) member, but is not limited thereto.
- the through-hole 17 formed in the web 16A or the web 16B is a shape other than a circle
- the breathable waterproof member 30 may have a shape that allows it to be fitted into the through-hole without any gaps.
- the breathable waterproof member does not need to be entirely plate-shaped or column-shaped, and it is sufficient that at least one end has a three-dimensional shape that can be inserted into the through-hole.
- a steel box girder is used as a hollow structure, and the case where the liquid to be blocked (prevented) by the breathable waterproof member is water has been described.
- the liquid to be blocked (prevented) by the breathable waterproof member may be a liquid other than water.
- waterproof included in the term breathable waterproof member used in this specification is not a term that only refers to water. Therefore, the water described so far is an example of a liquid, and for example, water droplets are an example of a droplet.
- a droplet means a mass of liquid held together by surface tension, in other words, a grain or drop of liquid.
- the breathable waterproof member 30 of this embodiment allows air to flow between the outside of one end face and the outside of the other end face through the ventilation holes 32, and also prevents (or prevents) water from entering the ventilation holes 32.
- a plurality of through holes 17 are formed in each of the pair of webs 16A and 16B, and a breathable waterproof member 30 is attached to each of the plurality of through holes 17. Therefore, air can flow in and out between the inside and outside of the steel box girder 10 through each of the plurality of breathable waterproof members 30 attached to the web 16A and the plurality of breathable waterproof members 30 attached to the web 16B, thereby providing sufficient ventilation inside the steel box girder 10.
- the intrusion of water into the steel box girder 10 through the breathable waterproof member 30 is effectively prevented or blocked by the breathable waterproof member 30.
- the mounting target of the breathable waterproof member 30 is not limited to a steel box girder, but may be a concrete box girder, or a box girder of a composite structure made of steel and concrete.
- the box girder bridge to which the breathable waterproof member of the above embodiment is applied may have two or more steel box girders (or concrete box girders) 210 arranged in parallel, such as the parallel two-box girder bridge 200 shown in FIG. 5(A).
- box girder bridge to which the breathable waterproof member of the above embodiment is applied may have an RC (reinforced concrete) deck, a steel deck, or a composite deck, not limited to a concrete deck.
- the box girder bridge may have a structure in which the deck and the box girder are integrated, such as the PC girder bridge 300 shown in FIG. 5(B).
- the breathable waterproof member 30 is made of silicone rubber (SI), a type of thermosetting elastomer.
- the material of the breathable waterproof member may be a thermosetting elastomer other than silicone rubber, or a thermoplastic elastomer. Both thermosetting elastomers and thermoplastic elastomers are elastic polymeric materials.
- Thermosetting elastomers include silicone rubber, natural rubber (NR), fluororubber (FKM), styrene rubber (SBR), butadiene rubber (BR), ethylene propylene rubber (EPM), ethylene propylene diene rubber (EPDM), urethane rubber (U), acrylic rubber (ACM), etc.
- Thermoplastic elastomers include olefin-based (TPO, TPV), styrene-based (TPS), urethane-based (TPU), ester-based (TPC, TPEE), polyvinyl chloride-based (TPVC), amide-based (TPAE), etc. It is desirable for the material of the breathable waterproof member according to the above embodiment to be one whose surface has a contact angle of water of greater than 90 degrees.
- the material of the breathable waterproof member is not limited to resin such as elastomer.
- the breathable waterproof member is preferably a material having elasticity.
- the breathable waterproof member may be a solid material that does not have elasticity. Even if the material is not elastic, when inserting the breathable waterproof member into the through hole of the box girder, an adhesive or the like may be applied to the inner surface of the through hole to prevent gaps from occurring. Furthermore, a filler or the like may be used instead of or together with the adhesive to prevent gaps from occurring between the inner surface of the through hole and the breathable waterproof member.
- the box girders that make up a box girder bridge have been taken up as an example of a hollow structure with a closed space formed inside to which the breathable waterproof member according to the above embodiment can be applied, but the hollow structures to which the breathable waterproof member can be applied are not limited to box girders. Any hollow structure that requires measures to prevent internal condensation can be used with the breathable waterproof member according to the above embodiment.
- the breathable waterproof member according to the above embodiment is particularly effective when applied to hollow structures in which small holes of about 3 mm or less cannot be directly drilled.
- the breathable waterproof member 30 according to the above embodiment can be mass-produced by using a 3D printer or by micromachining to create a mold or wax mold.
- the breathable waterproof member can be directly manufactured using a 3D printer that performs additive processing, or multiple ventilation holes can be made in a base material made of a solid material such as resin by subtractive processing or by drilling, etc.

Abstract
