Definitions
- the present invention refers to a laminate and a continuous tubular for the formation of bags intended to contain food products in general, and more especially packaged ready-to-eat fresh products.
- Whose ecological configuration avoids the use of plastics of fossil origin and any other non-biodegradable plastic, such as polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE) or bioriented polypropylene (BOPP), and whose structural configuration simplifies the manufacturing process and winding of the same, for its later use in packaging machines where the filling and closing of the bags is carried out.
- PP polypropylene
- PE polyethylene
- BOPP bioriented polypropylene
- the present invention also refers to a bag for containing food products obtained from said continuous laminate or tubular, whose configuration increases the durability of the packaged product, in addition to significantly improving the performance of presentation to the public of the final product.
- Continuous tubulars for the formation of bags also known as preformed tubulars, have meant an important advance in the food packaging industry in general, and especially in that of fruit and vegetable products and the like. These tubulars are supplied rolled in reels for later loading into packaging machines. During the packaging process, the machine feeds the preformed tubular to take it continuously and automatically to the filling station, where the bag is formed and the product is filled in successive stations. An example of them can be seen in document ES2600306A1.
- the present invention solves the problems previously exposed by means of a laminate and a continuous tubular for the formation of bags, as well as a bag for food products obtained from them, whose configuration presents an effective combination and arrangement of materials that, in addition to complying with With current environmental requirements, it allows preserving and/or improving the above-mentioned benefits of this type of product.
- the continuous laminate for the formation of bags of the present invention comprises: a first layer formed by a bioplastic film; Y - a second layer formed by at least one sheet of paper (adhered to the first layer, partially or totally covering said first layer.
- the first layer of bioplastic film comprises at least one closure area devoid of sheets of paper, said closure area being arranged along a longitudinal end of the laminate.
- This closure area has the technical effect of leaving a reserve of bioplastic material not covered by other materials to allow longitudinal closure of the continuous laminate on itself by overlapping and heat-sealing its longitudinal ends.
- the first layer of bioplastic film comprises at least one exposure area devoid of sheets of paper, said exposure area being arranged in a central area of the laminate.
- This display area or window has the technical effect of allowing a better visualization of the packaged product once inside the bag, while its combination with the sheet or sheets of paper gives said bag greater visual appeal and/or a certain rustic look.
- the exposure zone or zones can be arranged in other locations of the continuous laminate, beyond the central zone, either in lateral, lower and/or upper zones thereof.
- the display area of the packaged product can, however, be done in other ways, beyond leaving spaces of bioplastic film uncovered between one or more sheets of paper.
- the paper sheet comprises one or more exposure openings. This makes it possible to further improve the final finish of the bag, making its presentation and design even more attractive.
- said exposure openings can have various shapes and/or sizes, combinable with each other, and also combinable with the presence or not of other exposure areas of the above type.
- the second layer is formed by a sheet of paper adhered to the first layer, partially or totally covering said first layer.
- the second layer comprises a first sheet of paper and a second sheet of paper.
- the number of sheets of paper can be greater than two. (three, four, five%) according to the final design of the bag to be manufactured, as well as other technical conditions. For all cases with multiple sheets of paper, these can be arranged on the bioplastic film in various ways, either vertically or horizontally, as well as their possible combinations.
- bioplastic extends to any simple or compound material of the "biobased” type, that is to say that it derives from vegetable products and/or from renewable sources of agricultural products, and that presents a biodegradable and/or compostable character. Coming from natural sources and not from fossil sources.
- the bioplastic film is made of polylactic acid (PLA), polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA), or polybutylene succinate (PBS).
- PHA polylactic acid
- PBS polybutylene succinate
- the bioplastic film is polylactic acid (PLA) composed of lactic acid, corn starch and/or cane sugar.
- the first layer of bioplastic film has a thickness of 17 to 50 microns, and more preferably approximately 20 microns. With grammages that can go from 21.1 g/m 2 to 62.0 g/m 2 , and more preferably of 24.8 g/m 2 approx.
- paper is extended to any simple or compound material, such as paper, laminated paper, waxed paper, paper-cardboard, etc.
- each sheet of paper has a weight of 15 to 36 g/m 2 .
- each paper sheet is made of raw cellulose.
- the first layer is joined to the second layer by organic glue, preferably compostable, with amounts less than 2 g/m 2 , such as 1.5 g/m 2 .
- organic glue preferably compostable
- Other ways of joining these layers contemplate the use of heat, heat welding, or ultraviolet light, preferably combined with pressure.
- bioplastic film with one or more sheets of paper produces multiple technical effects, the sum of part or all of which produces a clear synergistic effect as explained below.
- a combination limits the transfer of oxygen.
- bioplastic film and, more especially, polylactic acid (PLA) film has a high oxygen penetration rate, more accentuated in thinner films.
- PVA polylactic acid
- This aspect can affect the durability of the packaged product.
- the presence of paper limits the exposed and/or uncovered surface of the bioplastic film, leaving it reduced in some cases to the display area of the packaged product, which can be around a third of the total outer surface of the laminate (which is visible once the bag is formed).
- the paper therefore reduces the transpiration surface, preventing the entry of oxygen. This is known as the “barrier effect” of the paper, and it allows the durability of the packaged product to multiply, going in some cases from 5 to 15 days, or more.
- bioplastics including polylactic acid (PLA)
- PLA polylactic acid
- the combination of bioplastic film and paper manages to cancel said electrostatic charge, allowing its correct handling without dirtying the welding equipment, and at the same time offering a consistent support to protect the welder and facilitate his work.
- bioplastic film and paper offers consistency to the continuous laminate, so that when folded it does not produce cracks that generate leaks. Bliss consistency makes it also indicated for the application of modified atmospheres once the container has been formed, as well as to guarantee adequate transport, stacking and storage of the laminate.
- the laminate is printable with conventional methods on its entire surface.
- bioplastic film allows the passage of water vapor, it does not allow the passage of oils or liquid water, therefore being impermeable in this sense.
- the present invention also relates to a continuous tubular for the formation of bags.
- Said tubular includes:
- the frontal band, the dorsal band and the two lateral bands define an inner surface of the continuous tubular made entirely of bioplastic film.
- This inner surface is the one intended to be in contact with the product. packing.
- the frontal band and the back band have reinforcing lateral ends; while the lateral bands present joining lateral ends.
- the reinforcing lateral ends are folded over the corresponding joining lateral ends in the manner of a hem, to reinforce the union of the lateral bands to the frontal band and the dorsal band. This confers greater resistance to the tubular, and to the bag obtained from it.
- the side bands are joined to the front band and to the back band by means of heat welding.
- the bioplastic film of the two side bands is made of polylactic acid (PLA), polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA), or polybutylene succinate (PBS).
- PLA polylactic acid
- PHA polyhydroxyalkanoates
- PBS polybutylene succinate
- the bioplastic film of the two lateral bands is polylactic acid (PLA) composed of lactic acid, corn starch and/or cane sugar.
- PLA polylactic acid
- the union by heat welding of PLA film with PLA film is practically perfect, it seals and welds very well.
- the bioplastic film of the two lateral bands has a thickness of 17 to 50 microns, and more preferably of approximately 20 microns.
- grammages that can go from 21.1 g/m 2 to 62.0 g/m 2 , and more preferably of 24.8 g/m 2 approx.
- the present invention also refers to a bag for food products, comprising:
- the containment space has a contact surface with the Packaged product made up entirely of bioplastic film.
- the bioplastic film that makes up the contact surface is made of polylactic acid (PLA), polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA), or polybutylene succinate (PBS).
- PLA polylactic acid
- PHA polyhydroxyalkanoates
- PBS polybutylene succinate
- the bioplastic film that makes up the contact surface is polylactic acid (PLA) composed of lactic acid, corn starch and/or cane sugar.
- PLA polylactic acid
- the containment space has a modified atmosphere, also known as a protective atmosphere.
- a modified atmosphere also known as a protective atmosphere. This is produced by injecting an appropriate mixture of gases (oxygen, carbon dioxide and nitrogen) according to the respiration needs of the packaged product, which, occupying said space inside the bag, expels or displaces the oxygen, delaying the oxidation of the packaged product. and increasing its durability.
