Abstract
본 발명은 a) 이온전도도가 저하된 황화물계 고체전해질을 유전상수(Dielectric constant)가 7 미만인 용매와 접촉시키는 단계; 및 b) 상기 용매와 접촉된 고체전해질을 건조시키는 단계;를 포함하는 황화물계 고체전해질의 이온전도도 회복방법, 이 방법에 의해 이온전도도가 회복된 황화물계 고체전해질, 및 이 고체전해질을 포함하는 리튬 이온 이차 전지에 관한 것이다.
Description
본 출원은 2022년 6월 24일자 한국 특허 출원 제10-2022-0077323호 및 2023년 6월 13일자 한국 특허 출원 제10-2023-0075819호에 기초한 우선권의 이익을 주장하며, 해당 한국 특허 출원의 문헌에 개시된 모든 내용은 본 명세서의 일부로서 포함한다.
본 발명은 황화물계 고체전해질의 이온전도도 회복방법, 이 방법에 의해 이온전도도가 회복된 황화물계 고체전해질, 및 이 고체전해질을 포함하는 리튬 이온 이차 전지에 관한 것이다.
리튬 이온 이차 전지는 에너지 밀도가 높기 때문에 전기 자동차(electric automobiles), 휴대 정보 단말기 등 다양한 용도로 사용되고 있다.
종래의 리튬 이온 이차 전지는 대부분 유기 용매 등의 액체전해질을 사용하였으나, 전해질의 누액 및 이에 따른 화재의 위험성 같은 안전성 문제가 끊임없이 제기되었다. 따라서 최근에는 무기 고체전해질을 사용하는 전고체 전지에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다.
전고체 전지는 유기용제(액체전해질)를 배제한 기술을 토대로 하고 있어서 안전하고 간소한 형태로 전지셀을 제작하는 것이 가능한 장점을 갖는다. 이러한 전고체 전지의 성능을 향상시키기 위해서는 높은 이온 전도도(ion conductivity)와 안전성(safety)을 갖는 고체전해질이 필요하며, 이에 따라 관련 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있다.
황화물계 고체전해질은 리튬 이온의 수율(transport number)이 약 1이고, 이온 전도도가 약 10-3 S/cm 이기 때문에 전지 특성 향상에 기여하는 고체전해질로서 주목받고 있다. 황화물계 고체전해질은 용융 급냉법(melt quenching method)이나 고상 반응법(solid phase reaction) 등에 의해 제조되고 있다.
그러나, 황화물계 고체전해질은 수분과 쉽게 반응하며, 소량의 수분과 반응하더라도 형태와 성질이 달라지는 특성을 갖는다. 예를 들어, 황화물계 고체전해질은 공기 중의 수분과 반응하여 황화수소(H2S) 가스를 발생시키며, 이온전도도 값이 크게 감소되는 특성을 갖는다. 구체적으로, 황화물계 고체전해질을 드라이룸 환경에 5시간 정도 노출시키는 경우, 이온전도도가 20 내지 60% 감소된다.
고체전해질의 이온전도도는 고체전해질이 적용되는 이차 전지의 성능에 중요한 영향을 미친다. 따라서, 고체전해질의 이온전도도는 이차 전지의 성능을 평가하는 하나의 지표값으로 사용되고 있다.
그러므로, 이차 전지의 성능을 향상시키기 위해서는, 이온전도도가 높은 고체전해질을 제조하는 기술과 함께, 제조된 고체전해질의 이온전도도를 안정하게 유지하거나, 회복시키는 기술의 개발도 요구되고 있다.

본 발명자들은 외부 환경에 의해 이온전도도가 낮아진 황화물계 고체전해질의 이온전도도를 회복시키는 방법에 관하여 예의 연구한 바, 이온전도도가 낮아진 황화물계 고체전해질을 특정의 용매로 처리하는 경우 이온전도도가 다시 회복되는 것을 발견하여 본 발명을 완성하였다.
그러므로, 본 발명은 황화물계 고체전해질의 이온전도도 회복방법, 이 방법에 의해 이온전도도가 회복된 황화물계 고체전해질, 및 이 고체전해질을 포함하는 리튬 이온 이차 전지를 제공하는 것을 목적으로 한다.
상기 목적을 달성하기 위하여, 본 발명은
a) 이온전도도가 저하된 황화물계 고체전해질을 유전상수(Dielectric constant)가 7 미만인 용매와 접촉시키는 단계; 및
b) 상기 용매와 접촉된 고체전해질을 건조시키는 단계;를 포함하는 황화물계 고체전해질의 이온전도도 회복방법을 제공한다.
또한, 본 발명은
상기 본 발명의 방법에 의해 이온전도도가 회복된 황화물계 고체전해질을 제공한다.
또한, 본 발명은
양극; 음극; 상기 양극과 음극 사이에 개재되는 고체전해질을 포함하며,
상기 고체전해질은 상기 본 발명의 고체전해질을 포함하는 리튬 이온 이차 전지를 제공한다.
본 발명의 황화물계 고체전해질의 이온전도도 회복 방법은 간단한 처리에 의해 효율적으로 고체전해질의 이온전도도를 회복시키는 효과를 제공한다.
또한, 상기 이온전도도 회복 방법 및 상기 방법에 의해 이온전도도가 회복된 황화물계 고체전해질은 전지의 조립시 높은 이온전도도를 갖는 고체전해질을 사용하는 것을 가능하게 한다.
또한, 본 발명의 리튬 이온 이차 전지는 상기와 같은 고체전해질을 포함함으로써, 전지의 성능을 향상시키는 효과를 제공한다.
도 1은 본 발명의 대조예, 비교예 및 실시예에서 제조된 고체전해질의 이온전도도를 측정하여 나타낸 그래프이다.
이하에서 본 발명을 더욱 자세하게 설명한다.
본 발명의 황화물계 고체전해질의 이온전도도 회복방법은
a) 이온전도도가 저하된 황화물계 고체전해질을 유전상수(Dielectric constant)가 7 미만인 용매와 접촉시키는 단계; 및
b) 상기 용매와 접촉된 고체전해질을 건조시키는 단계;를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
본 발명의 일 실시형태에 있어서, 상기 a) 단계에서 이온전도도 저하는 황화물계 고체전해질의 수분 노출로 인한 것일 수 있으며, 상기 수분 노출은 수분과의 접촉에 의한 수분 노출, 수분이 포함된 대기에 대한 노출 등일 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시형태에 있어서, 상기 a) 단계에서 이온전도도 저하는 대기 노출 전 황화물계 고체전해질의 이온전도도 100%를 기준으로 이온전도도가 1 내지 80%, 6 내지 80%, 1 내지 70%, 또는 6 내지 70% 감소된 것일 수 있다. 또한, 6 내지 60%, 10 내지 60%, 20 내지 60%, 또는 30 내지 50% 감소한 것일 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시형태에 있어서, 상기 a) 단계에서 이온전도도 회복은 이온전도도가 저하된 황화물계 고체전해질의 이온전도도를 1%, 2%, 4%, 6%, 8%, 10%, 12%, 14%, 16%, 18%, 20%, 25%, 30%, 35%, 및 40% 중에서 선택되는 하한값과 300%, 250%, 200%, 150%, 100%, 80%, 60%, 및 40% 중에서 선택되는 상한값으로 이루어지는 범위만큼 증가시킨 것일 수 있다. 예를 들어, 1 내지 300% 또는 10 내지 300% 증가시킨 것일 수 있다. 또한, 이온전도도가 저하된 황화물계 고체전해질의 이온전도도를 이온전도도 저하 전 황화물계 고체전해질의 이온전도도 100%를 기준으로 50 내지 100%, 50 내지 98%, 50 내지 95%, 70 내지 95%, 80 내지 95%, 80 내지 94%, 또는 85 내지 94%까지 증가시킨 것일 수 있다.
상기 유전상수(Dielectric constant)가 7 미만인 용매로는 자이렌, 이소부틸부티레이트, 아니졸, 톨루엔, 헥산, 헵탄, 이소부틸이소부티레이트(IBIB), 데칸(decane), 디부틸에테르, 부티릴부티레이트(butyl bytyrate) 등을 들 수 있으며, 이들은 1종 단독 또는 2종 이상의 조합으로 사용될 수 있다. 상기에서 자이렌은 오쏘, 메타, 또는 파라 자이렌일 수 있다.
특히, 자이렌, 이소부틸부티레이트 및 아니졸로 이루어진 1종 이상의 용매가 더욱 바람직하게 사용될 수 있다.
상기 용매는 유전상수(Dielectric constant)가 1 내지 5인 것이 더욱 바람직하게 사용될 수 있다.
상기 용매는 고체전해질과 반응성이 없어야 하므로, 비극성이나 약한 극성을 갖는 용매가 사용될 수 있다. 구체적으로 쌍극자 모멘트가 5D 이하인 것이 사용될 수 있다.
본 발명에서 상기 황화물계 고체전해질의 이온전도도 회복 방법은 입자(분말) 상태의 고체전해질에 적용될 수 있다.
황화물계 고체전해질은 리튬 이온의 수율(transport number)이 약 1이고, 이온 전도도가 약 10-3 S/cm 이기 때문에 전지 특성 향상에 기여하는 고체전해질로서 주목받고 있다.
그러나, 황화물계 고체전해질은 수분과 쉽게 반응하며, 소량의 수분과 반응하더라도 형태와 성질이 달라지며, 이온전도도 값이 크게 감소되는 특성을 갖는다. 구체적으로, 황화물계 고체전해질을 드라이룸 환경(H2O 100~160ppm)에 5시간 노출시키는 경우, 이온전도도가 20 내지 60% 감소된다.
전고체 또는 반고체 전지의 제조과정에서 황화물계 고체전해질이 제조 직후 바로 전지 조립에 사용되는 경우도 있지만, 보관 과정을 거쳐서 전지 조립에 사용되는 것이 일반적이다. 따라서 보관 과정에서 이온전도도가 감소된 황화물계 고체전해질을 그대로 사용하여 전고체 또는 반고체 전지를 제조하는 경우, 전지의 성능을 저하시키는 원인으로 작용한다.
본 발명은 상기와 같은 문제를 효율적으로 해소할 수 있는 솔루션을 제공하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
본 발명의 일 실시형태에 있어서, 상기 황화물계 고체전해질과 용매의 접촉은 이 분야에 공지된 다양한 방법으로 실시될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 고체전해질을 용매와 혼합하거나, 고체전해질에 용매를 분사하거나, 고체전해질을 용매에 침지하는 등의 방법으로 실시될 수 있다.
상기 황화물계 고체전해질과 용매의 접촉은 황화물계 고체전해질 표면이 전체적으로 용매로 젖은 상태가 되도록 실시되는 것이 바람직할 수 있다.
상기 혼합은 통상 1분 이상 실시될 수 있으며, 바람직하게는 1분 내지 1시간, 더욱 바람직하게는 1분 내지 10분간 실시될 수 있다. 그러나, 처리해야할 고체전해질의 양이 증가하면, 처리시간도 비례적으로 증가하게 되므로, 위와 같은 시간으로 한정되는 것은 아니다.
본 발명의 일 실시형태에 있어서, 상기 혼합은 혼합물의 교반에 의해 실시되는 것이 바람직하며, 상기 교반은 예를 들어, 100rpm 내지 3000rpm 범위, 바람직하게는 1000rpm 내지 2000rpm에서 실시될 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시형태에 있어서, 상기 건조는 진공 분위기 하에서 실시되는 것이 바람직하다.
상기 건조 방법은 특별히 한정되지 않으나, 예들 들어, 가온 조건하에서 실시되는 것이 바람직할 수 있다. 이 때, 건조 온도는 예를 들어, 25 내지 100℃, 더욱 바람직하게는 45 내지 70℃일 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시형태에 있어서, 상기 황화물계 고체전해질의 이온전도도 저하의 원인은 특별히 한정되지 않으나, 예를 들어, 황화물계 고체전해질의 수분 노출로 인한 것일 수 있으며, 상기 수분 노출은 수분과의 접촉에 의한 수분 노출, 수분이 포함된 대기에 대한 노출 등일 수 있다.
본 발명은 황화물계 고체전해질 제조 후, 수분이 포함된 대기와 접촉에 의해서 이온전도도가 저하된 경우에 바람직하게 적용될 수 있다.

이하에서, 본 발명과 관련된 기술 내용에 대하여 구체적으로 예를 들어 설명한다.
황화물계 고체전해질
본 발명에 따른 황화물계 고체전해질은 상기와 같이 용매로 처리된 황화물계 고체전해질 입자를 포함하며, 상기 입자들을 건식 또는 습식 공정에 의해 막 형태의 황화물계 고체 전해질로 제조한 것일 수 있다.
상기 황화물계 고체전해질은 상기 황화물계 고체전해질 입자들과 함께 바인더 입자들이 건식으로 혼합된 혼합물을 포함하는 것일 수 있다.
상기 황화물계 고체전해질은 상기 황화물계 고체전해질 입자들과 함께 바인더 및 용매를 포함하는 슬러리를 기재 상에 도포 및 건조켜서 제조된 것일 수 있다.
상기 건식 공정은 고체전해질 분말을 가압하여 고체전해질 시트를 제조하는 방법으로서, 예를 들어, 고체전해질 분말, 양극활물질 분말, 음극활물질 분말을 각각 적층하고, 가압하여 셀을 만드는 공정에 의해 실시될 수 있다.
상기 고체전해질 분말에는 바인더 분말이 더 포함될 수도 있다. 상기 건식 공정에 사용되는 바인더 분말로는 예를 들어, PTFE 등을 들 수 있으나, 이들로 한정되는 것은 아니다.
상기에서 바인더 분말은 고체전해질 분말 100 중량부를 기준으로 1 내지 5 중량부로 포함될 수 있다.
상기 습식 공정은 용매, 바인더, 고체전해질 분말을 포함하는 슬러리를 기재에 코팅하여 고체전해질 시트를 제조하는 방법이다.
본 발명의 바람직한 구현예에 따르면 상기 고체전해질 슬러리는 상기 고체전해질 40 내지 70 중량%, 상기 바인더 1 내지 5 중량% 및 상기 용매 20 내지 59 중량%를 포함할 수 있다.
상기 바인더로는 아크릴로니트릴 부타디엔 고무(Acrylonitrile butadiene rubber, NBR), 아크릴계 고분자, 실리콘계 고분자 등을 사용할 수 있으나, 이들로 한정되는 것은 아니다.
상기 용매로는 자일렌(Xylene), 헥산(Hexane), 벤젠(Benzene), 아니졸(anisole), 이소부틸 이소부티레이트(isobutyl isobutyrate), 톨루엔(toluene) 등이 사용될 수 있으나, 이들로 한정되는 것은 아니다.
상기 황화물계 고체전해질 입자는 특별히 한정되지 않으며 이 분야에서 사용하는 공지된 모든 황화물계 고체전해질 입자를 사용하는 것이 가능하다. 상기 황화물계 고체전해질 입자로는 시판되는 것을 구입하여 사용하거나, 비정질 황화물계 고체전해질 입자를 결정화 공정을 거쳐 제조한 것을 사용할 수 있다.

상기 황화물계 고체전해질 입자의 평균 입경은 공지된 전고체 또는 반고체 전지에서 사용되는 범위일 수 있으며, 일례로 0.1㎛ 내지 10㎛, 바람직하기로 1㎛ 내지 3㎛일 수 있다. 만약 평균 입경이 상기 범위 미만이면 입자끼리 응집될 우려가 있고, 상기 범위를 초과하면 제조된 고체 전해질의 기공률이 높아, 용량이 저하되는 등 전지 특성이 저하될 우려가 있으며, 박막화가 어려워 최종적인 셀의 에너지밀도 측면에서 불리할 수 있다. 바람직하게는, 이들 황화물계 고체전해질 입자는 이온 전도도가 1 X 10-3 S/㎝ 이상인 것이 바람직하고, 5 X 10-3 S/㎝ 이상인 것이 더욱 바람직하다.
상기 황화물계 고체전해질은 전술한 고체전해질 입자 이외에 공지된 다른 고체 전해질 입자를 추가로 포함할 수 있으며. 예를 들어, 무기 고체전해질 또는 유기 고체 전해질을 더 포함할 수 있다.
상기 무기 고체전해질로는 예를 들어, Li2O-B2O3, Li2O-B2O3-P2O5, Li2O-V2O5-SiO2, Li3PO4, Li2O-Li2WO4-B2O3, LiPON, LiBON, Li2O-SiO2, LiI, Li3N, Li5La3Ta2O12, Li7La3Zr2O12, Li6BaLa2Ta2O12, Li3PO(4-3/2w)NW (w는 w<1), Li3.6Si0.6P0.4O4 등이 사용될 수 있다.
상기 유기 고체전해질로는 예를 들어, 폴리에틸렌 유도체, 폴리에틸렌 옥사이드 유도체, 폴리프로필렌 옥사이드 유도체, 인산 에스테르 폴리머, 폴리 에지테이션 리신(agitation lysine), 폴리 에스테르 설파이드, 폴리비닐 알코올, 폴리 불화 비닐리덴 등의 폴리머 계열의 재료에 리튬염을 혼합한 것이 사용될 수 있다.
전고체 전지의 제조
본 발명에 따른 전고체 전지는 양극 및 음극을 구비하고, 이들 사이에 전술한 황화물계 고체 전해질이 배치된 구조로 제조될 수 있다.
상기 전고체 전지는 예를 들어, 전극 및 고체전해질을 분말 상태로 제조 후 이를 소정의 몰드에 투입 후 프레스하는 건식 압축 공정, 또는 고체전해질, 용매 및 바인더를 포함하는 슬러리를 제조하고, 이를 전극 또는 이형지에 코팅한 후 건조하는 슬러리 코팅 공정을 통해 제조되고 있다. 상기한 구성을 갖는 전고체 전지의 제조 방법은 본 발명에서 특별히 한정되지 않으며, 이 분야의 공지의 방법으로 실시될 수 있다.
일례로, 상기 전고체 전지는 양극 및 음극 사이에 고체 전해질을 배치시킨 후 이를 압축 성형하여 셀을 조립하고, 상기 조립된 셀을 외장재 내에 설치한 후 가열 압축 등에 의해 봉지하여 제조할 수 있다. 상기 외장재로는 알루미늄, 스테인레스 등의 라미네이트 케이스, 원통형이나 각형의 금속제 용기, 알루미늄 파우치 등 파우치형 용기가 사용될 수 있다.
상기 전고체 전지의 구조, 각 구성요소 및 제조방법에는 이 분야의 공지기술이 제한없이 적용될 수 있다.
<양극>
본 발명에 따른 전고체 전지의 양극은 특별히 한정되지 않으며, 이 분야에 공지된 양극이 제한없이 사용될 수 있다. 구체적으로 양극 집전체 상에 양극 활물질이 적층된 것이 사용될 수 있다.
상기 양극 집전체로는 전지에 화학적 변화를 유발하지 않으면서 높은 도전성을 가지는 것이 사용될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 스테인리스 스틸, 알루미늄, 티탄, 소성 탄소, 또는 알루미늄이나 스테인리스 스틸의 표면에 카본, 니켈, 티탄, 은 등으로 표면 처리한 것 등이 사용될 수 있다.
상기 양극 활물질은 리튬 이차전지의 용도에 따라 달라질 수 있으며, LiNi0.8-xCo0.2AlxO2, LiCoxMnyO2, LiNixCoyO2, LiNixMnyO2, LiNixCoyMnzO2, LiCoO2, LiNiO2, LiMnO2, LiFePO4, LiCoPO4, LiMnPO4 및 Li4Ti5O12 등의 리튬 금속 산화물(0< x,y, or z <1); Cu2Mo6S8, FeS, CoS 및 MiS 등의 칼코겐화물; 또는 스칸듐, 루테늄, 티타늄, 바나듐, 몰리브덴, 크롬, 망간, 철, 코발트, 니켈, 구리, 아연 등의 산화물, 황화물 또는 할로겐화물; 등이 사용될 수 있으나, 이들로 한정되는 것은 아니다. 상기 산화물 또는 황화물로는 TiS2, ZrS2, RuO2, Co3O4, Mo6S8, V2O5 등이 사용될 수 있다.
상기 양극 활물질의 형상은 특별히 한정되지 않으며, 입자형, 예컨대 구형, 타원형, 직육면체형 등일 수 있다. 상기 양극 활물질의 평균 입경은 1 내지 50 ㎛ 범위 내일 수 있으나, 이에 한정되는 것은 아니다.
상기 양극은 바인더를 더 포함할 수 있으며, 상기 바인더로는 폴리비닐리덴 플루오라이드(PVDF), 폴리테트라플루오로에틸렌(PTFE) 등의 불소 함유 바인더; 폴리아크릴로니트릴(PAN), 니트릴부타딘엔러버(NBR), 스티렌부타디엔스티렌 공중합체(SBS), 폴리부타디엔, 스티렌에틸렌부틸렌스티렌 공중합체(SEBS), 실리콘러버(SR), 수소화니트릴부타디엔러버(HNBR), 폴리(에티렌비닐아세테이트)(PEVA), 폴리(메틸메타크릴레이트)(PMMA), 폴리이소부텐(PIB) 등으로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택되는 1종 이상이 사용될 수 있다. 그러나, 이들로 한정되는 것은 아니다.
상기 바인더의 함량은 양극 활물질을 고정할 수 있는 정도면 특별히 한정되지 않으며, 예를 들어, 양극 전체에 대하여 0 내지 10 중량% 범위 내일 수 있다.
상기 양극은 추가로 도전재를 더 포함될 수 있으며, 상기 도전재로는 니켈 분말, 산화 코발트, 산화 티탄, 카본 등이 사용될 수 있다. 상기 카본으로는, 케첸 블랙, 아세틸렌 블랙, 퍼니스 블랙, 흑연, 탄소 섬유 및 플러렌으로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택되는 1종 이상이 사용될 수 있다.
상기 도전재의 함량은 도전재의 종류 등 기타 전지의 조건을 고려하여 선택될 수 있으며, 예를 들어, 양극 전체에 대하여 1 내지 10 중량% 범위로 포함될 수 있다.
상기 양극은 또한, 황화물계 고체전해질을 약 20 중량%의 양으로 더 포함할 수 있다.
<음극>
본 발명에 따른 전고체 전지의 음극은 특별히 한정되지 않으며, 이 분야에 공지된 음극이 제한없이 사용될 수 있다. 구체적으로 음극 집전체 위에 리튬 금속을 단독으로 적층하여 사용하거나 음극 활물질이 적층된 것을 사용할 수 있으며, 집전체만 사용할 수도 있으며(anodless) 그 위에 보호층이 적용될 수도 있다.
상기 음극 집전체는 전고체 전지에 화학적 변화를 유발하지 않으면서 도전성을 가진 것이라면 특별히 제한되지 않는다. 예를 들어, 스테인리스 스틸, 알루미늄, 티탄, 소성 탄소, 구리나 스테인리스 스틸의 표면에 카본, 니켈, 티탄, 은 등으로 표면 처리된 것, 알루미늄-카드뮴 합금 등이 사용될 수 있다. 또한, 상기 음극 집전체는 양극 집전체와 마찬가지로, 표면에 미세한 요철이 형성된 필름, 시트, 호일, 네트, 다공질체, 발포체, 부직포체 등 다양한 형태가 사용될 수 있다.
상기 음극 활물질로는 리튬 금속, 리튬 합금, 리튬 금속 복합 산화물, 리튬 함유 티타늄 복합 산화물(LTO) 및 이들의 조합으로 이루어진 군에서 선택된 1종 이상이 사용될 수 있다.
상기 리튬 합금은 리튬과 Na, K, Rb, Cs, Fr, Be, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Ra, Al 및 Sn으로부터 선택되는 적어도 하나의 금속으로 이루어진 합금일 수 있다.
상기 리튬 금속 복합 산화물은 리튬과 Si, Sn, Zn, Mg, Cd, Ce, Ni 및 Fe로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 어느 하나의 금속의 산화물(MeOx)이고, 일례로 LixFe2O3(0<x≤1) 또는 LixWO2(0<x≤1)일 수 있다.
또한, 상기 음극 활물질로는 SnxMe1-xMe'yOz (Me: Mn, Fe, Pb, Ge; Me': Al, B, P, Si, 주기율표의 1족, 2족, 3족 원소, 할로겐; 0<x≤1; 1≤y≤3; 1≤z≤8) 등의 금속 복합 산화물; SnO, SnO2, PbO, PbO2, Pb2O3, Pb3O4, Sb2O3, Sb2O4, Sb2O5, GeO, GeO2, Bi2O3, Bi2O4 및 Bi2O5 등의 산화물 등을 사용할 수 있고, 결정질 탄소, 비정질 탄소 또는 탄소 복합체와 같은 탄소계 음극 활물질이 단독으로 또는 2종 이상이 혼용되어 사용될 수 있다.
상기 음극은 이 분야에 공지된 방법으로 제조될 수 있다.
이하, 본 발명을 구체적으로 설명하기 위해 실시예를 들어 상세하게 설명하기로 한다. 그러나 본 발명에 따른 실시예는 여러 가지 다른 형태로 변형될 수 있 으며, 본 발명의 범위가 아래에서 상술하는 실시예에 한정되는 것으로 해석되어서는 아니 된다. 본 발명의 실시예는 당업계에서 평균적인 지식을 가진 자에게 본 발명을 보다 완전하게 설명하기 위해서 제공되는 것이다.
<실시예 및 비교예에서 사용된 황화물계 고체전해질>
본 발명의 실시예 및 비교예에서는 argyrodite계 고체전해질(제조사: 미쯔이)을 구입하여 사용하였다.
대조예 1: 황화물계 고체전해질의 이온전도도 측정
상기 구입한 argyrodite계 고체전해질 분말을 대기에 노출되지 않은 상태에서, 360 Mpa로 펠렛 형상으로 성형하고, 스테인레스 스틸 전극으로 샌드위치하여 이온전도도를 측정하였다. 이온 전도도는 3.06 mS/cm 이었다.
대조예 2-4: 황화물계 고체전해질의 제조 직후 이온전도도 측정
상기 구입한 argyrodite계 고체전해질 분말을 대기에 노출되지 않은 상태에서, 하기 표 1의 각각의 용매와 혼합하여 2,000rpm으로 6분간 믹싱하였다. 이후, 진공 조건에서 100℃의 온도로 6시간 건조시켰다.
상기 건조된 각각의 고체전해질 분말을 펠렛 형상으로 성형하고, 스테인레스 스틸 전극으로 샌드위치하여 이온전도도를 측정하고, 그 결과를 하기 표 1에 나타내었다.

상기 실험으로부터, 수분에 노출되지 않은 황화물계 고체전해질을 유전상수가 7 미만인 용매로 처리하는 경우, 대조예 1의 용매처리를 하지 않은 경우와 비교하여 이온전도도의 변화가 거의 나타나지 않는 것을 확인하였다. 이러한 정도의 차이는 용매처리시 공기 및 불순물 접촉에 의한 이온전도도 저하인 것으로 보인다.
비교예 1: 황화물계 고체전해질의 보관후 이온전도도 측정
상기 argyrodite계 고체전해질 분말을 드라이룸(H2O 100~160ppm 수준) 환경에서 5시간 동안 대기 중에 노출시킨 후, 노출된 고체전해질 분말을 펠렛 형상으로 성형하고, 스테인레스 스틸 전극으로 샌드위치하여 이온전도도를 측정하였다. 이온 전도도는 1.99 mS/cm 이었다.
상기 실험결과 이온전도도는 대조예 1의 전기전도도 대비 35%감소된 것으로 확인되었다.
실시예 1 내지 3:
황화물계 고체전해질의 보관 후, 용매 혼합 처리후 이온전도도 측정
상기 비교예 1과 동일한 방법으로 대기 중에 노출시킨 황화물계 고체전해질을 하기 표 2의 각각의 용매와 혼합하여 2,000rpm으로 6분간 믹싱하였다. 이후, 진공 조건에서 100℃의 온도로 6시간 건조시켰다.
상기 건조된 각각의 고체전해질 분말을 펠렛 형상으로 성형하고, 스테인레스 스틸 전극으로 샌드위치하여 이온전도도를 측정하고, 그 결과를 하기 표 2에 나타내었다.

상기 실험으로부터, 드라이룸 노출에 의해 저하된 황화물계 고체전해질의 이온전도도(35% 저하)는, 상기 용매 처리에 의해 드라이룸 노출을 실시하지 않고 이온전도도를 측정한 고체전해질의 이온전도도(대조예 1)와 대비하여 94%까지 회복된 것을 확인할 수 있다.
실시예 4 및 비교예 2: 전고체 전지의 제조
상기 대조예 1에서 이온전도도 측정에 사용한 황화물계 고체전해질을 사용하여 전고체 전지를 제조하였다(대조예 5).
또한, 상기 비교예 1에서 이온전도도 측정에 사용한 황화물계 고체전해질을 사용하여 전고체 전지를 제조하였다(비교예 2).
또한, 상기 실시예 3에서 이온전도도 측정에 사용한 황화물계 고체전해질을 사용하여 전고체 전지를 제조하였다(실시예 4).
(1) 전고체 전해질의 제조
상기 대조예 1에서 이온전도도 측정에 사용한 황화물계 고체전해질 분말, 상기 실시예 3에서 이온전도도 측정에 사용한 황화물계 고체전해질 분말, 및 비교예 1에서 이온전도도 측정에 사용한 황화물계 고체전해질 분말을 각각 고무계 바인더 및 용매인 자일렌과 55 : 2 : 43의 중량비로 혼합하여 슬러리 조성물을 제조하였다. 상기 각각의 슬러리 조성물을 Tape-cast 방법으로 이형지 위에 코팅한 후, 진공상태의 100℃ 온도에서 6시간 동안 건조시켰다. 이후 500 MPa 압력으로 가압하여 30 ㎛ 두께의 고체전해질 막을 형성하였다. 이후, 이형지를 제거하여 프리-스탠딩 상태의 황화물계 고체전해질 막을 셀에 적용하였다.
(2) 전고체 전지의 제조
상기에서 제조된 각 황화물계 고체전해질막을 양극(NCM811), 고체전해질막, 음극(Li metal)의 순서로 적층시킨 후, 200 MPa의 압력으로 가압한 후, 상기 양극과 음극에 집전체를 결합시킨 후, 알루미늄 파우치셀로 조립하여 각각 대조예 5, 실시예 4 및 비교예 2의 전고체 전지를 제조하였다.
실험예 2: 전고체 전지의 특성 평가
상기 대조예 5, 실시예 4 및 비교예 2의 전고체 전지의 쿨롱효율을 비교하였다. 0.05C 충전, 방전 시, 대조예 5, 실시예 4, 및 비교예 2의 전지 각각의 수명 특성을 60℃에서 1C 충방전 방법으로 측정하여 전지의 수명성능을 평가하고 그 결과를 하기 표 3에 나타내었다.

상기 평가결과, 본 발명의 방법에 의해 이온전도도가 회복된 황화물계 고체전해질(실시예 3)은 이온전도도가 저하되지 않은 상태의 고체전해질(대조예 1)과 비교하여 전지의 품질을 저하시키지 않는 것으로 확인되었다.
Claims (12)
- a) 이온전도도가 저하된 황화물계 고체전해질을 유전상수(Dielectric constant)가 7 미만인 용매와 접촉시키는 단계; 및b) 상기 용매와 접촉된 고체전해질을 건조시키는 단계;를 포함하는 황화물계 고체전해질의 이온전도도 회복방법.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 a) 단계에서 이온전도도 저하는 황화물계 고체전해질의 수분 노출에 의해 발생한 것을 특징으로 하는 이온전도도 회복방법.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 a) 단계에서 이온전도도 저하는 황화물계 고체전해질의 수분을 포함한 대기 노출에 의해 발생한 것을 특징으로 하는 이온전도도 회복방법.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 a) 단계에서 이온전도도 저하는 대기 노출 전 황화물계 고체전해질의 이온전도도 100%를 기준으로 이온전도도가 1 내지 80%까지 감소한 것을 특징으로 하는 이온전도도 회복방법.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 a) 단계에서 이온전도도 회복은 이온전도도가 저하된 황화물계 고체전해질의 이온전도도를 1 내지 300%까지 증가시키는 것을 특징으로 하는 이온전도도 회복방법.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 유전상수(Dielectric constant)가 7 미만인 용매는 자이렌, 이소부틸부티레이트, 아니졸, 톨루엔, 헥산, 헵탄, 이소부틸이소부티레이트(IBIB), 데칸(decane), 디부틸에테르, 및 부티릴부티레이트(butyl bytyrate)로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택되는 1종 이상인 것을 특징으로 하는 고체전해질의 이온전도도 회복방법.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 황화물계 고체전해질과 용매의 접촉은 고체전해질을 용매와 혼합하거나, 고체전해질에 용매를 분사하거나, 또는 고체전해질을 용매에 침지하는 방법으로 실시되는 것을 특징으로 하는 고체전해질의 이온전도도 회복방법.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 황화물계 고체전해질과 용매의 접촉은 황화물계 고체전해질 표면이 전체적으로 용매로 젖은 상태가 되도록 실시되는 것을 특징으로 하는 고체전해질의 이온전도도 회복방법.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 건조는 진공 분위기 하에서 실시되는 것을 특징으로 하는 고체전해질의 이온전도도 회복방법.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 황화물계 고체전해질은 Li10GeP2S12, Li2S-P2S5 glasses, thio-LISICONS, Li9.54Si1.74P1.44S11.7Cl0.3, Li6PS5X(LPSX; X = Cl, Br, I) argyrodites, 및 Li12-m-x +(Mm+Y4 2-)Y2-x 2-Xx - (여기서 M = Si, Ge, Sn, P, As; Y = O, S, Se, Te; X = Cl, Br, I; 0 ≤ x ≤ 2)로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택되는 1종 이상인 것을 특징으로 하는 고체전해질의 이온전도도 회복방법.
- 제1항의 방법으로 이온전도도가 회복된 황화물계 고체전해질.
- 양극; 음극; 상기 양극과 음극 사이에 개재되는 고체전해질을 포함하며,상기 고체전해질은 제11항의 고체전해질을 포함하는 리튬 이온 이차 전지.
