Abstract

L'invention concerne un modulateur optique comprenant : un guide d'ondes optique qui est formé sur un substrat semi-conducteur et comprend une couche de guide d'ondes optique dans laquelle une couche de gainage inférieure, une couche centrale et une couche de gainage supérieure sont stratifiées dans cet ordre ; un démultiplexeur optique (407XI) qui démultiplexe un signal optique propagé à travers le guide d'ondes optique ; et une couche de protection recouvrant le guide d'ondes optique et le démultiplexeur optique. Le guide d'ondes optique comprend une section de parcours intérieur (409XIa) et une section de trajet extérieur (409XIb) pour propager les signaux optiques démultiplexés par le démultiplexeur optique, une section de retard dans laquelle l'intervalle entre la section de trajet intérieur et la section de trajet extérieur varie et la longueur de la section de trajet intérieur est plus longue que celle de la section de trajet extérieur, et une section pliée dans laquelle l'intervalle entre la section de trajet intérieur et la section de trajet extérieur est constant et la direction d'extension varie. La couche de protection dans la zone comprenant la section de retard et la section pliée comprend un MZM (401X1) ayant une zone de non formation de couche de protection Rd dans laquelle l'épaisseur est plus mince que celle de la couche de protection au-dessus du démultiplexeur optique.
