Definitions
- the present patent relates to a new composition for the manufacture of pastes for high viscosity coating.
- the invention Inserted in the technical field of coating and leveling putties applied in different environments, the invention comprises five types of mineral fillers and three types of polymeric resins, mixed in the most diverse proportions, guaranteeing high fluidity resistance even in pressurized systems and after drying, a high moisture resistance and weighted resistance to submersion in water.
- Mineral filler corresponds to minerals, or rocks, that are found in nature, such as limestone (calcite, dolomite), phyllite, mica (muscovite, phlogopite, biotite), silica (quartz, zeolite), talc, pyrophyllite (agalmatolite), gypsum, barite, among others.
- limestone calcite, dolomite
- phyllite phyllite
- mica muscovite, phlogopite, biotite
- silica quartz, zeolite
- talc pyrophyllite
- gypsum barite
- mineral fillers are used due to several reasons: cost reduction, improving processing, density control, optical effects, thermal expansion control, flame retardancy, modifications with regard to the properties of thermal conductivity, electrical resistance and magnetic susceptibility, in addition to improving mechanical properties.
- Carbonates are commonly used as fillers in polymers. These correspond to ground limestone below 325 pm. These rocks may consist only of the mineral calcite (CaCOs) or a mixture of calcite and dolomite (CaCOs. MgCOs). Other minerals, such as quartz, may appear associated in small amounts. Carbonates help improve the impact strength of composites.
- CaCOs mineral calcite
- MgCOs dolomite
- Other minerals, such as quartz may appear associated in small amounts. Carbonates help improve the impact strength of composites.
- the addition of fillers in polymer matrices constitutes a direct mixture or blend, and there are different types of operations for its formulation, which can be used, for example:
- PI 1003700-4 discloses a new composition, which serves to prepare a pasty mass that will be applied on a wooden substrate by extrusion pressure and molded by a matrix, where after drying it becomes a rigid structure, taking the desired shape when which has undergone shaping with a high resistance to moisture and weighted resistance to submersion in water.
- the product is sent ready for use and the drying time must be respected according to the layer applied, expressed in the product's technical bulletin, after which it gradually hardens, becoming solid after drying, ready for sanding and painting, if necessary.
- PI 0700947-0 provides a composite consisting of vinyl resin dispersion in water from 28 to 40% - calcium carbonate - from 60 to 72% - and toning paste - from 0 to 5% - whose mixture of these materials or substitute materials must be carried out at low agitation speed - maximum 50 rpm - so that the temperature does not exceed 40°C and a maximum time of 120 minutes is required to homogenize the product.
- KR20160116955A presents an adhesive composition and a method of producing the same. More specifically, the floor adhesive composition according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: 35-70% PVA, 15-40% silica, 3-20% desulfurized waste gypsum and 1-10% calcium carbonate .
- Adhesive in aqueous emulsion based on PVAc with about 20% solid content
- Adhesive in aqueous emulsion based on PVAc with about 30% solids content.
- Adhesive in aqueous emulsion based on PVAc with about 45% solids content.
- the addition of the five mineral fillers (Dolomite; Chalk plaster, Precipitated calcium carbonate; Micronized aluminum hydrosilicate and Natural calcium and magnesium carbonate) combined with polymeric resins (PVAs) guarantee the viscosity, density and transfer power necessary for applications in closed and/or pressurized systems.
- the mixing process is done in controlled dosages, gradually adding the mineral fillers that are juxtaposed to the PVA resins under constant agitation. If necessary, the viscosity can be changed by adding an aqueous solution in order to adjust the rheological properties of the composition.
- the composition of the paste can vary, and preferably it should have 30% to 40% of total weight of polymeric resins and 60% to 70% of total weight of mineral fillers.
- mining charges must also preferably contain 10% to 20% of dolomite and 50% to 60% of calcite.
