 1つの実施形態においては、上記製造方法は、上記偏光板と、上記偏光板の片側に貼り合わせられた上記表面保護フィルムとを有する表面保護フィルム付偏光板を準備することを含む。
 1つの実施形態においては、上記偏光板の視認側の反射率は2.5%~3.0%である。
 1つの実施形態においては、上記偏光板の視認側の水接触角は95°以上である。
 1つの実施形態においては、上記画像表示パネル本体はタッチパネルを備える。
 本発明の別の局面によれば、表面保護フィルムが提供される。本発明の実施形態における表面保護フィルムは、基材と粘着剤層とを含み、前記基材は対向する第一主面および第二主面を有し、前記基材の第二主面側に粘着剤層が配置され、前記表面保護フィルムの前記第一主面側の表面抵抗値は1.0×10Ω/□以上であり、上記粘着剤層は、アクリル系粘着剤を含み、上記アクリル系粘着剤は極性官能基を有する(メタ)アクリル系ポリマーを含み、極性官能基を有するモノマー成分の含有量は、上記(メタ)アクリル系ポリマーを形成するモノマー100重量部に対して1.0重量部~10.0重量部である。
 1つの実施形態においては、上記表面保護フィルムは処理層をさらに備え、処理層は、上記基材の上記第一主面側に形成されている。
 1つの実施形態においては、上記処理層は4級アンモニウムカチオン含有ポリマーを含む。
 本発明のさらに別の局面によれば、表面保護フィルム付偏光板が提供される。この表面保護フィルム付偏光板は、上記偏光板と、偏光板の視認側に上記表面保護フィルムと、を備える。
 本発明の実施形態によれば、画像表示パネルの製造方法において、画像表示パネル本体の視認側に配置される偏光板の視認側に貼り合わせられ、対向する第一主面および第二主面を有する基材と前記基材の第二主面側に配置される粘着剤層とを含む表面保護フィルムを用い、前記表面保護フィルムの前記第一主面側の表面抵抗値は1.0×10Ω/□以上であり、前記偏光板に対する前記表面保護フィルムの剥離力は0.03N/25mm以上であることにより、画像表示パネルの製造効率の低下を抑制することができる。
 本発明の別の局面によれば、表面保護フィルムについて、基材と粘着剤層とを含み、前記基材は対向する第一主面および第二主面を有し、前記基材の第二主面側に粘着剤層が配置され、前記表面保護フィルムの前記第一主面側の表面抵抗値は1.0×10Ω/□以上であり、上記粘着剤層は、アクリル系粘着剤を含み、上記アクリル系粘着剤は極性官能基を有する(メタ)アクリル系ポリマーを含み、極性官能基を有するモノマー成分の含有量は、上記(メタ)アクリル系ポリマーを形成するモノマー100重量部に対して1.0重量部~10.0重量部であることにより、画像表示パネルの製造効率の低下の抑制に寄与することができる。

 以下、本発明の実施形態について説明するが、本発明はこれらの実施形態には限定されない。
(用語および記号の定義)
 本明細書における用語および記号の定義は下記の通りである。
(1)屈折率(nx、ny、nz)
 「nx」は面内の屈折率が最大になる方向(すなわち、遅相軸方向)の屈折率であり、「ny」は面内で遅相軸と直交する方向(すなわち、進相軸方向)の屈折率であり、「nz」は厚み方向の屈折率である。
(2)面内位相差(Re)
 「Re(λ)」は、23℃における波長λnmの光で測定した面内位相差である。例えば、「Re(550)」は、23℃における波長550nmの光で測定した面内位相差である。Re(λ)は、層(フィルム)の厚みをd(nm)としたとき、式:Re(λ)=(nx-ny)×dによって求められる。
(3)厚み方向の位相差(Rth)
 「Rth(λ)」は、23℃における波長λnmの光で測定した厚み方向の位相差である。例えば、「Rth(550)」は、23℃における波長550nmの光で測定した厚み方向の位相差である。Rth(λ)は、層(フィルム)の厚みをd(nm)としたとき、式:Rth(λ)=(nx-nz)×dによって求められる。
(4)Nz係数
 Nz係数は、Nz=Rth/Reによって求められる。
(5)角度
 本明細書において角度に言及するときは、当該角度は基準方向に対して時計回りおよび反時計回りの両方を包含する。したがって、例えば「45°」は±45°を意味する。
A.画像表示パネルの製造方法
 本発明の実施形態による画像表示パネルの製造方法は、画像表示パネル本体の視認側に配置される偏光板の視認側に貼り合わせられる表面保護フィルムを用いる。図1は、本発明の実施形態による画像表示パネルの製造方法により得られる画像表示パネルの一例の概略の構成を示す模式的な断面図である。なお、図1では、画像表示パネルとして有機ELパネルを例に説明する。
 画像表示パネル(有機ELパネル)100は、画像表示パネル(有機ELパネル)本体50と、表面保護フィルム付偏光板200とを備える。表面保護フィルム付偏光板200は、偏光板20と、偏光板20の片側に貼り合わせられた表面保護フィルム10と、を備える。図示例では、表面保護フィルム付偏光板200は、偏光板20のもう片側に配置された位相差層30と粘着剤層40とを備える。表面保護フィルム10は、最終製品(例えば、画像表示装置)の製造過程において剥離されてもよいし、最終製品にそのまま搭載されてもよい。
 本発明の実施形態による画像表示パネルの製造方法は、好ましくは、偏光板と、偏光板の片側に貼り合わせられた表面保護フィルムとを有する表面保護フィルム付偏光板を準備することを含む。具体的には、有機ELパネル本体50に、表面保護フィルム付偏光板200を貼り合わせて有機ELパネル100を得る。図1に示す例では、表面保護フィルム付偏光板200は、位相差層30および粘着剤層40を備えているが、その他の部材を含み得る。実用的には、表面保護フィルム付偏光板200の粘着剤層40側には、セパレーターが剥離可能に仮着されている(図示せず)。セパレーターを仮着することにより、表面保護フィルム付偏光板が使用に供されるまで粘着剤層を保護するとともに、表面保護フィルム付偏光板のロール形成が可能となる。さらに、本発明の画像表示パネルを構成する各層の積層には、任意の適切な接着剤層(図示せず)が用いられる。
 以下、本発明の実施形態による画像表示パネルの構成要素について、より詳細に説明する。
B.画像表示パネル本体
 画像表示パネル(有機ELパネル)本体50は、代表的には、基板と、薄膜トランジスタ(TFT)等を含む回路層、有機発光ダイオード(OLED)、OLEDを封止する封止膜等を含む上部構造層とを備える(いずれも図示せず)。画像表示パネル本体50は、さらにタッチパネルを備え得る(図示せず)。タッチパネルは、代表的には導電層を備える。
 導電層は、任意の適切な成膜方法(例えば、真空蒸着法、スパッタリング法、CVD法、イオンプレーティング法、スプレー法等)により、任意の適切な基材上に、金属酸化物膜を成膜して形成され得る。金属酸化物としては、例えば、酸化インジウム、酸化スズ、酸化亜鉛、インジウム-スズ複合酸化物、スズ-アンチモン複合酸化物、亜鉛-アルミニウム複合酸化物、インジウム-亜鉛複合酸化物が挙げられる。なかでも好ましくは、インジウム-スズ複合酸化物(ITO)である。
 導電層が金属酸化物を含む場合、該導電層の厚みは、好ましくは50nm以下であり、より好ましくは35nm以下である。導電層の厚みの下限は、好ましくは10nmである。
 上記導電層は、必要に応じてパターン化され得る。パターン化によって、導通部と絶縁部とが形成され得る。結果として、電極が形成され得る。電極は、タッチパネルへの接触を感知するタッチセンサ電極として機能し得る。パターニング方法としては、任意の適切な方法を採用し得る。パターニング方法の具体例としては、ウエットエッチング法、スクリーン印刷法が挙げられる。
C.表面保護フィルム付偏光板
 表面保護フィルム付偏光板200は、図1に示すように、偏光板20と、偏光板20の片側に貼り合わされた表面保護フィルム10とを備える。上記のとおり、表面保護フィルム付偏光板200は、さらに位相差層30および粘着剤層40を備えていてもよい。以下、表面保護フィルム付偏光板の構成要素について、より詳細に説明する。
C-1.偏光板
 図2は、図1に示す画像表示パネルを構成する偏光板の一例を示す模式的な断面図である。図3は、図2に示す偏光板を構成する機能層の一例を示す模式的な断面図である。偏光板20は、図2に示すように、偏光子21と保護層22とを備える。必要に応じて、偏光子21の画像パネル本体側に、さらに保護層が設けられていてもよい(図示せず)。さらに、本発明の1つの実施形態による偏光板20は、保護層22の視認側に機能層23を備える。以下、偏光板の構成要素について詳細に説明する。
C-1-1.偏光子
 偏光子としては、任意の適切な偏光子が採用され得る。例えば、偏光子を形成する樹脂フィルムは、単層の樹脂フィルムであってもよい。また、偏光子は、二層以上の積層体を用いて形成されてもよい。
 単層の樹脂フィルムから構成される偏光子の具体例としては、ポリビニルアルコール(PVA)系フィルム、部分ホルマール化PVA系フィルム、エチレン・酢酸ビニル共重合体系部分ケン化フィルム等の親水性高分子フィルムに、ヨウ素や二色性染料等の二色性物質による染色処理および延伸処理が施されたもの、PVAの脱水処理物やポリ塩化ビニルの脱塩酸処理物等ポリエン系配向フィルム等が挙げられる。好ましくは、光学特性に優れることから、PVA系フィルムをヨウ素で染色し一軸延伸して得られた偏光子が用いられる。
 上記ヨウ素による染色は、例えば、PVA系フィルムをヨウ素水溶液に浸漬することにより行われる。上記一軸延伸の延伸倍率は、好ましくは3倍~7倍である。延伸は、染色処理後に行ってもよいし、染色しながら行ってもよい。また、延伸してから染色してもよい。必要に応じて、PVA系フィルムに、膨潤処理、架橋処理、洗浄処理、乾燥処理等が施される。例えば、染色の前にPVA系フィルムを水に浸漬して水洗することで、PVA系フィルム表面の汚れやブロッキング防止剤を洗浄することができるだけでなく、PVA系フィルムを膨潤させて染色ムラなどを防止することができる。
 積層体を用いて得られる偏光子の具体例としては、樹脂基材と当該樹脂基材に積層されたPVA系樹脂層(PVA系樹脂フィルム)との積層体、あるいは、樹脂基材と当該樹脂基材に塗布形成されたPVA系樹脂層との積層体を用いて得られる偏光子が挙げられる。樹脂基材と当該樹脂基材に塗布形成されたPVA系樹脂層との積層体を用いて得られる偏光子は、例えば、PVA系樹脂溶液を樹脂基材に塗布し、乾燥させて樹脂基材上にPVA系樹脂層を形成して、樹脂基材とPVA系樹脂層との積層体を得ること;当該積層体を延伸および染色してPVA系樹脂層を偏光子とすること;により作製され得る。本実施形態においては、好ましくは、樹脂基材の片側に、ハロゲン化物とポリビニルアルコール系樹脂とを含むポリビニルアルコール系樹脂層を形成する。延伸は、代表的には積層体をホウ酸水溶液中に浸漬させて延伸することを含む。さらに、延伸は、必要に応じて、ホウ酸水溶液中での延伸の前に積層体を高温(例えば、95℃以上)で空中延伸することをさらに含み得る。加えて、本実施形態においては、好ましくは、積層体は、長手方向に搬送しながら加熱することにより幅方向に2%以上収縮させる乾燥収縮処理に供される。代表的には、本実施形態の製造方法は、積層体に、空中補助延伸処理と染色処理と水中延伸処理と乾燥収縮処理とをこの順に施すことを含む。補助延伸を導入することにより、熱可塑性樹脂上にPVAを塗布する場合でも、PVAの結晶性を高めることが可能となり、高い光学特性を達成することが可能となる。また、同時にPVAの配向性を事前に高めることで、後の染色工程や延伸工程で水に浸漬された時に、PVAの配向性の低下や溶解などの問題を防止することができ、高い光学特性を達成することが可能になる。さらに、PVA系樹脂層を液体に浸漬した場合において、PVA系樹脂層がハロゲン化物を含まない場合に比べて、ポリビニルアルコール分子の配向の乱れ、および配向性の低下が抑制され得る。これにより、染色処理および水中延伸処理など、積層体を液体に浸漬して行う処理工程を経て得られる偏光子の光学特性を向上し得る。さらに、乾燥収縮処理により積層体を幅方向に収縮させることにより、光学特性を向上させることができる。得られた樹脂基材/偏光子の積層体はそのまま用いてもよく(すなわち、樹脂基材を偏光子の保護層としてもよく)、樹脂基材/偏光子の積層体から樹脂基材を剥離し、当該剥離面に目的に応じた任意の適切な保護層を積層して用いてもよい。このような偏光子の製造方法の詳細は、例えば特開2012-73580号公報(特許第5414738号)、特許第6470455号に記載されている。これらの公報は、その全体の記載が本明細書に参考として援用される。
 偏光子の厚みは、好ましくは10μm以下であり、より好ましくは8μm以下であり、さらに好ましくは6μm以下である。偏光子の厚みの下限は、例えば1μmであり得る。
 偏光子は、好ましくは、波長380nm~780nmのいずれかの波長で吸収二色性を示す。偏光子の単体透過率は、例えば41.5%~46.0%であり、好ましくは43.0%~46.0%であり、好ましくは44.5%~46.0%である。偏光子の偏光度は、好ましくは97.0%以上であり、より好ましくは99.0%以上であり、さらに好ましくは99.9%以上である。
C-1-2.保護層
 上記保護層は、任意の適切なフィルムで形成される。当該フィルムの主成分となる材料の具体例としては、トリアセチルセルロース(TAC)等のセルロース系樹脂、ポリエステル系、ポリビニルアルコール系、ポリカーボネート系、ポリアミド系、ポリイミド系、ポリエーテルスルホン系、ポリスルホン系、ポリスチレン系、ポリノルボルネン系、ポリオレフィン系、(メタ)アクリル系、アセテート系等の透明樹脂等が挙げられる。また、(メタ)アクリル系、ウレタン系、(メタ)アクリルウレタン系、エポキシ系、シリコーン系等の熱硬化型樹脂または紫外線硬化型樹脂等も挙げられる。この他にも、例えば、シロキサン系ポリマー等のガラス質系ポリマーも挙げられる。また、特開2001-343529号公報(WO01/37007)に記載のポリマーフィルムも使用できる。このフィルムの材料としては、例えば、側鎖に置換または非置換のイミド基を有する熱可塑性樹脂と、側鎖に置換または非置換のフェニル基ならびにニトリル基を有する熱可塑性樹脂を含有する樹脂組成物が使用でき、例えば、イソブテンとN-メチルマレイミドからなる交互共重合体と、アクリロニトリル・スチレン共重合体とを有する樹脂組成物が挙げられる。当該ポリマーフィルムは、例えば、上記樹脂組成物の押出成形物である。
 上記保護層の厚みは、好ましくは45μm以下であり、より好ましくは40μm以下であり、さらに好ましくは35μm以下である。保護層の厚みの下限は、例えば10μmである。
 偏光板の視認側に配置される保護層には、必要に応じて、ハードコート処理、反射防止処理(低反射処理)、スティッキング防止処理、アンチグレア処理等の表面処理が施され、機能層が形成される。なお、機能層が形成されている場合、上記保護層の厚みは、機能層の厚みを含めた厚みである。
 本発明の実施形態による偏光板は、代表的には画像表示パネル本体の視認側に配置される。さらに、上記のとおり、保護層は偏光板の視認側に配置される。ここで、例えば、有機ELパネル(OLED)をモバイル機器として使用するとき、軽量化等を目的として、視認側にガラス板を配置しない場合がある。そのような場合には、画像表示パネルの視認側(すなわち、偏光板の視認側)に表面処理が施され得る。
 上記偏光板の視認側の反射率は、好ましくは2.5%~3.0%であり、より好ましくは2.6%~2.9%である。偏光板の視認側の反射率がこのような範囲であることにより、使用者の視認性が向上する。
 上記偏光板の視認側の水接触角は、好ましくは95°以上であり、より好ましくは96°以上であり、さらに好ましくは97°以上である。偏光板の視認側の水接触角がこのような範囲であることにより、偏光板の視認側の防汚機能が向上する。
 本発明の実施形態による偏光板は、図2に示すように、その視認側に、上記表面処理により形成される機能層23を備える。機能層23は、例えば、保護層22にハードコート処理および反射防止処理が施されて形成される層を示す。前記機能層23は、例えば、光の干渉を利用することで反射率を低減させるものである。
 上記機能層23は、本発明の1つの実施形態においては、図3に示すように樹脂層23aと反射防止層23bとを備える。樹脂層23aは、例えば、樹脂、フィラーおよび溶媒を含む塗工液を、偏光板に塗工して塗膜を形成し、次いで、塗膜から溶媒を除去することで形成される。前記樹脂は、例えば、熱硬化性樹脂、紫外線や光で硬化する電離放射線硬化性樹脂が挙げられる。前記樹脂として、市販の熱硬化型樹脂や紫外線硬化型樹脂等を用いることも可能である。
 前記熱硬化型樹脂や紫外線硬化型樹脂としては、例えば、熱、光(紫外線等)または電子線等により硬化するアクリレート基およびメタクリレート基の少なくとも一方の基を有する硬化型化合物が使用でき、例えば、シリコーン樹脂、ポリエステル樹脂、ポリエーテル樹脂、エポキシ樹脂、ウレタン樹脂、アルキッド樹脂、スピロアセタール樹脂、ポリブタジエン樹脂、ポリチオールポリエン樹脂、多価アルコール等の多官能化合物のアクリレートやメタクリレート等のオリゴマーまたはプレポリマー等が挙げられる。これらは、1種類を単独で用いてもよく、2種類以上を併用してもよい。好ましくは、シリコーン樹脂が用いられ得る。シリコーン樹脂を用いることで、上記偏光板の視認側の水接触角が上記の範囲となり得、防汚機能が担保できるからである。
 反射防止層23bは、反射防止層形成用塗工液を塗工することにより得られる。前記反射防止層形成用塗工液は、例えば、樹脂、フッ素元素含有添加剤、中空粒子、中実粒子および希釈溶媒等を含んでいてもよく、例えば、これらを混合して製造できる。前記中空粒子および中実粒子は、例えば、シリカ粒子であってもよい。
 機能層23が上記のような構成を有していることにより、画像表示パネルの軽量化を実現しつつ、使用者の視認性を向上させ、さらに偏光板の視認側の防汚機能を向上させることができる。なお、機能層については、特開2020-030363号公報に記載されている。本公報は、本明細書に参考として援用されている。
C-1-3.位相差層
 位相差層30は、単一層であってもよく、積層構造(実質的には、二層構造)を有していてもよい。
 位相差層30が単一層である場合、位相差層30は代表的にはλ/4板として機能する。位相差層は、代表的には、画像表示パネルに反射防止特性を付与するために設けられる。位相差層は、代表的には、屈折率特性がnx>ny=nzの関係を示す。位相差層の面内位相差Re(550)は、好ましくは100nm~190nmであり、より好ましくは110nm~170nmであり、さらに好ましくは120nm~160nmである。なお、ここで「ny=nz」はnyとnzが完全に等しい場合だけではなく、実質的に等しい場合を包含する。したがって、本発明の効果を損なわない範囲で、ny>nzまたはny<nzとなる場合があり得る。
 位相差層のNz係数は、好ましくは0.9~1.5であり、より好ましくは0.9~1.3である。このような関係を満たすことにより、非常に優れた反射色相を有する画像表示パネルが得られ得る。
 位相差層が単一層である場合、位相差層は、好ましくは、位相差値が測定光の波長に応じて大きくなる逆分散波長特性を示す。この場合、位相差層のRe(450)/Re(550)は、好ましくは0.8以上1未満であり、より好ましくは0.8以上0.95以下である。このような構成であれば、非常に優れた反射防止特性を実現することができる。
 位相差層の遅相軸と偏光子の吸収軸とのなす角度は、好ましくは40°~50°であり、より好ましくは42°~48°であり、さらに好ましくは約45°である。角度がこのような範囲であれば、上記のように位相差層をλ/4板とすることにより、非常に優れた反射防止特性を有する画像表示パネルが得られ得る。
 位相差層は、上記のような特性を満足し得る限りにおいて、任意の適切な材料で構成され得る。具体的には、位相差層は、樹脂フィルムの延伸フィルムであってもよく、液晶化合物の配向固化層(以下、液晶配向固化層)であってもよい。
 位相差層が樹脂フィルムの延伸フィルムである場合、樹脂フィルムを構成する樹脂の代表例としては、ポリカーボネート系樹脂またはポリエステルカーボネート系樹脂(以下、単にポリカーボネート系樹脂と称する場合がある)が挙げられる。ポリカーボネート系樹脂としては、所望の透湿度が得られる限りにおいて、任意の適切なポリカーボネート系樹脂を用いることができる。例えば、ポリカーボネート系樹脂は、フルオレン系ジヒドロキシ化合物に由来する構造単位と、イソソルビド系ジヒドロキシ化合物に由来する構造単位と、脂環式ジオール、脂環式ジメタノール、ジ、トリまたはポリエチレングリコール、ならびに、アルキレングリコールまたはスピログリコールからなる群から選択される少なくとも1つのジヒドロキシ化合物に由来する構造単位と、を含む。好ましくは、ポリカーボネート系樹脂は、フルオレン系ジヒドロキシ化合物に由来する構造単位と、イソソルビド系ジヒドロキシ化合物に由来する構造単位と、脂環式ジメタノールに由来する構造単位ならびに/あるいはジ、トリまたはポリエチレングリコールに由来する構造単位と、を含み;さらに好ましくは、フルオレン系ジヒドロキシ化合物に由来する構造単位と、イソソルビド系ジヒドロキシ化合物に由来する構造単位と、ジ、トリまたはポリエチレングリコールに由来する構造単位と、を含む。ポリカーボネート系樹脂は、必要に応じてその他のジヒドロキシ化合物に由来する構造単位を含んでいてもよい。位相差層は、上記のようなポリカーボネート系樹脂で構成されるフィルムを、任意の適切な延伸条件で延伸することにより形成される。なお、ポリカーボネート系樹脂および位相差層の形成方法の詳細は、例えば、特開2014-10291号公報、特開2014-26266号公報(特許第5528606号)、特開2015-212816号公報(特許第6189355号)、特開2015-212817号公報(特許第6823899号)、特開2015-212818号公報、特開2017-54093号公報(特許第6360821号)、特開2018-60014号公報(特許第6321107号)に記載されている。これらの公報の記載は本明細書に参考として援用される。
 位相差層が液晶配向固化層である場合、液晶化合物を用いることにより、得られる位相差層のnxとnyとの差を非液晶材料に比べて格段に大きくすることができるので、所望の面内位相差を得るための位相差層の厚みを格段に小さくすることができる。その結果、表面保護フィルム付偏光板(結果として、画像表示パネル)の薄型化を実現することができる。本明細書において「配向固化層」とは、液晶化合物が層内で所定の方向に配向し、その配向状態が固定されている層をいう。なお、「配向固化層」は、液晶モノマーを硬化させて得られる配向硬化層を包含する概念である。本実施形態においては、代表的には、棒状の液晶化合物が位相差層の遅相軸方向に並んだ状態で配向している(ホモジニアス配向)。液晶化合物の具体例および液晶配向固化層の形成方法の詳細は、例えば、特開2006-163343号公報、特開2006-178389号公報に記載されている。これらの公報の記載は本明細書に参考として援用される。
 位相差層の厚みは、代表的には、λ/4板として適切に機能し得る厚みに設定される。位相差層が樹脂フィルムの延伸フィルムである場合、位相差層の厚みは、例えば10μm~60μmである。位相差層が液晶配向固化層である場合、位相差層の厚みは、例えば1μm~5μmである。
 位相差層30が積層構造を有する場合、位相差層は、代表的には、第1の液晶配向固化層と第2の液晶配向固化層の2層構造を有する。この場合、第1の液晶配向固化層または第2の液晶配向固化層のいずれか一方はλ/2板として機能し得、他方はλ/4板として機能し得る。ここでは、第1の液晶配向固化層がλ/2板として機能し得、第2の液晶配向固化層がλ/4板として機能し得る場合を説明するが、これらは逆であってもよい。第1の液晶配向固化層の厚みは、λ/2板の所望の面内位相差が得られるよう調整され得、例えば2.0μm~4.0μmであり得る。第2の液晶配向固化層の厚みは、λ/4板の所望の面内位相差が得られるよう調整され得、例えば1.0μm~2.5μmであり得る。第1の液晶配向固化層の面内位相差Re(550)は、好ましくは200nm~300nmであり、より好ましくは230nm~290nmであり、さらに好ましくは250nm~280nmである。第2の液晶配向固化層の面内位相差Re(550)は、上記のとおり、好ましくは100nm~190nmであり、より好ましくは110nm~170nmであり、さらに好ましくは120nm~160nmである。第1の液晶配向固化層の遅相軸と偏光子の吸収軸とのなす角度は、好ましくは10°~20°であり、より好ましくは12°~18°であり、さらに好ましくは約15°である。第2の液晶配向固化層の遅相軸と偏光子の吸収軸とのなす角度は、好ましくは70°~80°であり、より好ましくは72°~78°であり、さらに好ましくは約75°である。このような構成であれば、理想的な逆波長分散特性に近い特性を得ることが可能であり、結果として、非常に優れた反射防止特性を実現することができる。
C-2.表面保護フィルム
 図4は、図1に示す画像表示パネルを構成する表面保護フィルムの一例を示す模式的な断面図である。本発明の1つの実施形態における表面保護フィルム10は、図4に示すように、基材11と表面保護フィルムの粘着剤層12とを含み、基材11は対向する第一主面11aおよび第二主面11bを有し、基材11の第二主面11bに表面保護フィルムの粘着剤層12が配置されている。好ましくは、表面保護フィルム10はさらに処理層13を備え、処理層13は、基材11の第一主面11aに形成されている。
 本発明の1つの実施形態においては、表面保護フィルムの第一主面側の表面抵抗値は1.0×10Ω/□以上であり、好ましくは1.0×10Ω/□以上である。このような表面保護フィルムを用いることにより、タッチパネルセンサーエラーの発生を抑制して、画像表示パネルの製造効率を向上させることができる。具体的には、画像表示パネルをモバイル機器として使用する場合、タッチパネルセンサーエラーの抑制が重要となり得る。タッチパネルセンサーエラーとは、画像表示パネル(画像表示装置)の製造時(特に検査工程)において、タッチパネルの操作性を確認する際に、指で画面をタッチしても反応しないもしくは反応し難くなる現象のことである。上記表面保護フィルムを画像表示パネルに適用し、表面保護フィルムの視認側を指でタッチした場合に、上記表面抵抗値が1.0×10Ω/□以上であると、タッチした部分の電荷の変化を検出することができる。すなわち、モバイル機器の製造時、特に検査工程において上記タッチパネルセンサーエラーが発生することが抑制され、画像表示パネルの製造効率の低下の抑制を実現することができる。表面抵抗値は、例えば1.0×1013Ω/□以下であり、好ましくは1.0×1012Ω/□以下であり、より好ましくは1.0×1011Ω/□以下である。表面抵抗値が一定値以上であると、例えば、他のフィルムとのブロッキングなどの不具合が発生し得る。ここで、このように表面抵抗値が一定値以上であるフィルムに対しては、表面処理を施して表面抵抗値を一定値以下とする必要がある。一方で、該フィルムの表面抵抗値が一定値以下であると、上記タッチパネルセンサーエラーが起こり得る。したがって、本願発明においては、表面保護フィルムに、特定の帯電防止剤を含む処理層を形成することにより、上記の2つの課題を解決する点において優れている。
 本発明の1つの実施形態においては、表面保護フィルムの偏光板に対する剥離力は0.03N/25mm以上であり、好ましくは0.04N/25mm以上であり、より好ましくは0.05N/25mm以上であり、さらに好ましくは0.06N/25mm以上である。このような表面保護フィルムを用いることにより、画像表示パネルの製造時に、表面保護フィルムが偏光板から剥がれるのを防止して、画像表示パネルの製造効率を向上させることができる。本発明の1つの実施形態においては、偏光板の視認側には、上記のとおり機能層が形成されている。上記機能層は、代表的には、防汚機能を担保するためシリコーン樹脂を含む。シリコーン樹脂を含む機能層においては、機能層の表面自由エネルギーが低くなり、粘着剤との密着性が低くなる。偏光板と表面保護フィルムとの密着性が低いと、製造工程内での表面保護フィルムの剥がれが起きやすい傾向にある。また、実用的には、表面保護フィルムの粘着剤層側にはセパレーターが剥離可能に仮着されている。このような表面保護フィルム付偏光板からセパレーターを剥離する工程においては、表面保護フィルム側を真空板等で固定するため、表面保護フィルムの剥離力が、セパレーターの剥離力よりも大きいことが必要とされる。表面保護フィルムの偏光板に対する剥離力が0.03N/25mm以上であることにより、表面保護フィルムが上記偏光板から剥離することが防止され、画像表示パネルの製造効率の低下の抑制が実現される。剥離力の上限は、例えば0.50N/25mmである。
 表面保護フィルムの厚みは、好ましくは15μm~200μmであり、より好ましくは20μm~150μmであり、さらに好ましくは30μm~100μmであり、特に好ましくは40μm~60μmである。
 以下、表面保護フィルムの構成要素について、より詳細に説明する。
C-2-1.基材
 基材の形成材料としては、例えば、ポリエチレンテレフタレート系樹脂等のエステル系樹脂、ノルボルネン系樹脂等のシクロオレフィン系樹脂、ポリプロピレン等のオレフィン系樹脂、ポリアミド系樹脂、ポリカーボネート系樹脂、これらの共重体樹脂が挙げられる。好ましくは、エステル系樹脂(特に、ポリエチレンテレフタレート系樹脂)である。
 上記基材の厚みは、好ましくは10μm~150μmであり、より好ましくは20μm~100μmであり、さらに好ましくは30μm~50μmである。
C-2-2.表面保護フィルムの粘着剤層
 表面保護フィルムの粘着剤層は、アクリル系粘着剤を含む。アクリル系粘着剤は、代表的には、極性官能基を有する(メタ)アクリル系ポリマーを含む。極性官能基を有する(メタ)アクリル系ポリマーは、代表的には、アルキル(メタ)アクリレートと極性官能基を有するモノマーとの重合体を含む。なお、(メタ)アクリレートは、アクリレートおよび/またはメタクリレートをいう。
 極性官能基を有するモノマー成分の含有量は、前記(メタ)アクリル系ポリマーを形成するモノマー100重量部に対して、好ましくは1.0重量部~10.0重量部であり、より好ましくは2.0重量部~8.0重量部である。極性官能基を有するモノマー成分の含有量が上記の範囲であれば、極性官能基が、例えば偏光板の視認側に形成される機能層との間に水素結合を形成することにより、密着性を向上させることができる。
 アルキル(メタ)アクリレートとしては、例えば、直鎖状または分岐鎖状のアルキル基の炭素数1~18のものが挙げられる。アルキル基としては、例えば、メチル基、エチル基、プロピル基、イソプロピル基、ブチル基、イソブチル基、アミル基、ヘキシル基、シクロヘキシル基、ヘプチル基、2-エチルヘキシル基、イソオクチル基、ノニル基、デシル基、イソデシル基、ドデシル基、イソミリスチル基、ラウリル基、トリデシル基、ペンタデシル基、ヘキサデシル基、ヘプタデシル基、オクタデシル基などが挙げられる。アルキル(メタ)アクリレートは、単独でまたは組み合わせて使用できる。アルキル基の平均炭素数は3~10であることが好ましい。アルキル基のなかでは、好ましくは、2-エチルヘキシル基が挙げられる。
 アルキル(メタ)アクリレートの含有量は、(メタ)アクリル系ポリマーを形成するモノマー100重量部に対して、例えば20.0重量部~80.0重量部、好ましくは、30.0重量部~70.0重量部である。
 極性官能基を有するモノマーとしては、例えば、カルボキシル基含有モノマー、ヒドロキシル基含有モノマー等が挙げられ、好ましくは、カルボキシル基含有モノマーが挙げられる。極性官能基を有するモノマーは、単独でまたは組み合わせて使用できる。
 カルボキシル基含有モノマーは、その構造中にカルボキシル基を含み、かつ(メタ)アクリロイル基、ビニル基などの重合性不飽和二重結合を含む化合物である。カルボキシル基含有モノマーとしては、例えば、(メタ)アクリル酸、カルボキシエチル(メタ)アクリレート、カルボキシペンチル(メタ)アクリレート、イタコン酸、マレイン酸、フマール酸、クロトン酸などが挙げられる。これらの中でも、アクリル酸が好ましい。アクリル系ポリマーは、好ましくは、アルキル(メタ)アクリレートとカルボキシル基含有モノマーとの重合体、より好ましくは、アルキル(メタ)アクリレートとアクリル酸との重合体を含み得る。
 1つの実施形態において、アクリル系ポリマーは、その他の共重合モノマーに由来の構成単位を含む。その他の共重合モノマーとして、例えば、酢酸ビニル、プロピオン酸ビニル等のビニルエステル類が挙げられ、好ましくは、酢酸ビニルが挙げられる。その他の共重合モノマーは、単独でまたは組み合わせて使用できる。
 その他の共重合モノマーの含有量は、(メタ)アクリル系ポリマーを形成するモノマー100重量部に対して、例えば1.0重量部~20.0重量部、好ましくは、3.0重量部~15.0重量部である。
 (メタ)アクリル系ポリマーの重量平均分子量Mwは、例えば、30万~60万であり、好ましくは40万~50万である。
 架橋剤は、(メタ)アクリル系ポリマーが有する極性官能基の一部と反応可能である。架橋剤としては、有機系架橋剤、多官能性金属キレートなどを用いることができる。有機系架橋剤としては、例えば、イソシアネート系架橋剤、過酸化物系架橋剤、エポキシ系架橋剤、イミン系架橋剤が挙げられる。多官能性金属キレートは、多価金属が有機化合物と共有結合または配位結合しているものである。粘着剤組成物が放射線硬化型である場合、架橋剤として多官能性モノマーを用いることができる。架橋剤は単独でまたは組み合わせて使用できる。
 架橋剤の配合量は、(メタ)アクリル系ポリマー(ベースポリマー)100重量部に対して、例えば、1.0重量部~20.0重量部、好ましくは、3.0重量部~15.0重量部である。
 上記粘着剤は、必要に応じて、任意の適切な添加剤を含む。該添加剤としては、例えば、開始剤、粘着付与剤、可塑剤、顔料、染料、充填剤、老化防止剤、導電材、帯電防止剤、紫外線吸収剤、光安定剤、剥離調整剤、軟化剤、界面活性剤、難燃剤、酸化防止剤等が挙げられる。
 表面保護フィルムの粘着剤層の厚みは、好ましくは3μm~100μmであり、より好ましくは4μm~60μm、さらに好ましくは5μm~40μmであり、特に好ましくは10μm~25μmである。
C-2-3.処理層
 表面保護フィルム10は、図4に示すように基材11の第一主面11aに処理層13を更に備えていてもよい。処理層は、帯電防止剤などを、有機溶剤もしくは水などの溶媒で希釈し、この塗液を基材層に塗布・乾燥することにより形成される。該帯電防止剤としては、4級アンモニウムカチオン含有ポリマー、ポリアニリンスルホン酸系帯電防止剤等が挙げられ、好ましくは4級アンモニウムカチオン含有ポリマーが用いられ得る。
 前記4級アンモニウムカチオン含有ポリマーに含有される4級アンモニウムカチオンとしては、例えば、トリメチルアンモニウムカチオン、トリエチルアンモニウムカチオン、トリプロピルアンモニウムカチオン、メチルジエチルアンモニウムカチオン、エチルジメチルアンモニウムカチオン、メチルジプロピルアンモニウムカチオン、ジメチルベンジルアンモニウムカチオン、ジエチルベンジルアンモニウムカチオン、メチルジベンジルアンモニウムカチオン、エチルジベンジルアンモニウムカチオンが挙げられる。この中でも、特にトリメチルアンモニウムカチオンが好適に用いられる。これらの4級アンモニウムカチオンを含有する4級アンモニウムカチオン含有ポリマーは、分子内に親水基と親油基とを有し、親水基が空気中の水分を吸収することで、優れた帯電防止効果を実現し得る。
 以下、実施例によって本発明を具体的に説明するが、本発明はこれら実施例によって限定されるものではない。各特性の測定方法は以下の通りである。なお、特に明記しない限り、実施例および比較例における「部」および「%」は重量基準である。
(1)厚み
 10μm以下の厚みは、干渉膜厚計(大塚電子社製、製品名「MCPD-3000」)を用いて測定した。10μmを超える厚みは、デジタルマイクロメーター(アンリツ社製、製品名「KC-351C」)を用いて測定した。
(2)剥離力
 実施例および比較例で得られた表面保護フィルムの第二主面側と、偏光板MCIG1465CUZZ10ユ(日東電工株式会社製)の機能層側とを貼り合わせ、25mm×100mmの短冊辺を作製した。得られた短冊辺の表面保護フィルムを180°ピール、300mm/minの速度で引き剥がした。
 良:剥離力が0.03N/25mm以上である
不良:剥離力が0.03N/25mm未満である
(3)表面抵抗値
 実施例および比較例で得られた表面保護フィルムを用いて、ナプソン株式会社製の非接触表面抵抗計 商品名「EC-80」を用いて、渦電流法により表面抵抗値を測定した。測定温度は23℃とした。
 良:表面抵抗値は1.0×10Ω/□以上である
不良:表面抵抗値は1.0×10Ω/□未満である
[製造例1]粘着剤組成物Aの作製
 2-エチルヘキシルアクリレート100重量部と、酢酸ビニル80重量部と、アクリル酸5重量部と、を含むモノマー組成物を重合して、アクリル系ポリマーを得た。得られたアクリル系ポリマー100重量部と、架橋剤として1,3ビス(N,N-ジグリシジルアミノメチル)ジクロルヘキサン(三菱ガス化学製、製品名「TETRAD-C」)を10.0重量部と、を混合して粘着剤組成物Aを作製した。
[製造例2]粘着剤組成物Bの作製
 2-エチルヘキシルアクリレート100重量部と、2-ヒドロキシエチルアクリレート4重量部とを含むモノマー組成物を重合して、アクリル系ポリマーを得た。得られたアクリル系ポリマー100重量部と、架橋剤として脂肪族ポリイソシアネート(東ソー製、製品名「コロネートHX」)を5重量部と、架橋助剤としてジオクチルスズシラウレート(東京ファインケミカル製、製品名「エンビライザーOL-1」)を0.03重量部と、剥離助剤としてポリオキシエチレンアルキルプロペニルフェニルエーテル硫酸アンモニウム塩(第一工業製薬製、製品名「アクアロンHS-10」)を0.3重量部と、を混合して粘着剤組成物Bを作製した。
[製造例3]粘着剤組成物Cの作製
 剥離助剤を混合しなかったこと以外は製造例2と同様にして、粘着剤組成物Cを作製した。
[製造例4]粘着剤組成物Dの作製
 架橋剤として芳香族ポリイソシアネート(東ソー製、製品名「コロネートL」)を3重量部と、架橋助剤としてジオクチルスズシラウレート(東京ファインケミカル製、製品名「エンビライザーOL-1」)を0.02重量部と、剥離助剤としてポリオキシプロピレングリコール(三洋化成製、製品名「サンニックスPP-3000」)を0.5重量部と、を混合したこと以外は製造例2と同様にして、粘着剤組成物Dを作製した。
[製造例5]処理層Aの形成
 帯電防止処理層付ポリエチレンテレフタレートフィルム「ダイアホイルT100N38」(三菱ケミカル製)の帯電防止処理面にアルキルアセタール化ポリビニルアルコール(積水化学工業製、製品名「エスレックK KW-10」)17%、オクタデシルイソシアネート(大原パラヂウム化学製、製品名「R-NCO」)83%を混合し、キシレンなどの溶剤でベースを0.3%に希釈した塗液を塗工し、130℃で1分加熱して乾燥させ、厚さ40~60nmの層を形成し、処理層Aを形成した。
[製造例6]処理層Bの形成
 ポリエチレンテレフタレートフィルム「ダイアホイルT100C38」(三菱ケミカル製)にPEDOT系導電コート剤(中京油脂製、製品名「T-670」)74%、PEDOT系導電コート剤用硬化剤(中京油脂製、「P-795」)8%、ポリアニリンスルホン酸系帯電防止剤(三菱レイヨン製、製品名「aquaPASS-F15P」)9%、帯電防止剤用添加剤(三菱レイヨン製、製品名「aquaPASS-A01」)9%を混合し、メタノールなどの溶剤で0.35%に希釈した塗液を塗工し、130℃で1分加熱して乾燥させ、厚さ40~60nmの層を形成し、処理層Bを形成した。
[実施例1]
 帯電防止処理層付ポリエチレンテレフタレートフィルム(三菱ケミカル製、製品名「ダイアホイルT100F38」)の帯電防止層を形成していない側に、製造例1で作製した粘着剤組成物Aを塗工し、130℃で1分間加熱した。さらに、PETフィルムの反対側の面に、製造例5にしたがって処理層Aを形成して、表面保護フィルムを得た。得られた表面保護フィルムを、上記(2)および(3)の評価に供した。なお、上記帯電防止処理層は4級アンモニウムカチオン含有ポリマーを含む。結果を表1に示す。
[実施例2]
 ポリエチレンテレフタレートフィルム(三菱ケミカル製、製品名「ダイアホイルT100C38」)の片面に実施例1と同様にして粘着剤層を形成し、表面保護フィルムを得た。得られた表面保護フィルムを、実施例1と同様の評価に供した。結果を表1に示す。
[比較例1]
 製造例5に従って処理層Aを形成した帯電防止処理層付ポリエチレンテレフタレートフィルムを用いたこと以外は実施例1と同様にして、表面保護フィルムを得た。得られた表面保護フィルムを、実施例1と同様の評価に供した。結果を表1に示す。
[比較例2]
 製造例2に従って作製した粘着剤組成物Bを用いたこと以外は実施例1と同様にして、表面保護フィルムを得た。得られた表面保護フィルムを、実施例1と同様の評価に供した。結果を表1に示す。
[比較例3]
 製造例3に従って作製した粘着剤組成物Cを用いたこと、製造例6にしたがって処理層Bを形成したポリエチレンテレフタレートフィルムを用いたこと以外は実施例1と同様にして、表面保護フィルムを得た。得られた表面保護フィルムを、実施例1と同様の評価に供した。結果を表1に示す。
[比較例4]
 製造例4に従って作製した粘着剤組成物Dを用いたこと以外は実施例2と同様にして、表面保護フィルムを得た。得られた表面保護フィルムを、実施例1と同様の評価に供した。結果を表1に示す。

[評価]
 表1から明らかなとおり、実施例における表面保護フィルムを用いた場合は、剥離力および表面抵抗値がいずれも良好である。したがって、当該表面保護フィルムを画像表示パネルに適用した場合に、画像表示パネルの製造効率の低下が抑制され得る。
 本発明の表面保護フィルムは、画像表示パネルに好適に用いられる。

Claims (9)

  1.  画像表示パネル本体の視認側に配置される偏光板の視認側に貼り合わせられ、対向する第一主面および第二主面を有する基材と前記基材の第二主面側に配置される粘着剤層とを含む表面保護フィルムを用いる画像表示パネルの製造方法であって、
     前記表面保護フィルムの前記第一主面側の表面抵抗値は1.0×10Ω/□以上であり、
     前記偏光板に対する前記表面保護フィルムの剥離力は0.03N/25mm以上である、
     画像表示パネルの製造方法。
  2.  前記偏光板と、前記偏光板の片側に貼り合わせられた前記表面保護フィルムとを有する表面保護フィルム付偏光板を準備することを含む、請求項1に記載の製造方法。
  3.  前記偏光板の視認側の反射率が2.5%~3.0%である、請求項1または2のいずれかに記載の製造方法。
  4.  前記偏光板の視認側の水接触角が95°以上である、請求項1から3のいずれかに記載の製造方法。
  5.  前記画像表示パネル本体が、さらにタッチパネルを備える、請求項1から4のいずれかに記載の製造方法。
  6.  基材と粘着剤層とを含む表面保護フィルムであって、
     前記基材は対向する第一主面および第二主面を有し、前記基材の第二主面側に粘着剤層が配置され、
     前記表面保護フィルムの前記第一主面側の表面抵抗値が1.0×10Ω/□以上であり、
     前記粘着剤層がアクリル系粘着剤を含み、前記アクリル系粘着剤は極性官能基を有する(メタ)アクリル系ポリマーを含み、極性官能基を有するモノマー成分の含有量が、前記(メタ)アクリル系ポリマーを形成するモノマー100重量部に対して1.0重量部~10.0重量部である、
     表面保護フィルム。
  7.  処理層をさらに備え、前記処理層は、前記基材の前記第一主面側に形成されている、請求項6に記載の表面保護フィルム。
  8.  前記処理層が、4級アンモニウムカチオン含有ポリマーを含む、請求項7に記載の表面保護フィルム。
  9.  偏光板と、偏光板の視認側に請求項6から8のいずれかに記載の表面保護フィルムと、を備える、表面保護フィルム付偏光板。
