- impact energy absorbing members represented by front side members and rear side members are limited to steel plates with a tensile strength (hereinafter simply referred to as TS) from 590 MPa class to 780 MPa class. This is because, as the strength increases, the material cracks in a bending crushing test or an axial crushing test that simulates a crash test, and the impact energy cannot be sufficiently absorbed.
- TS tensile strength
- LME cracking liquid metal embrittlement cracking
- LME cracks may occur when spot welding is performed with galvanized steel sheets due to contact of molten zinc in the galvanized steel sheets with the high-strength cold-rolled steel sheets.
- High-strength steel sheets with a TS of 780 MPa or more contain high amounts of C, Si, and Mn, so there is concern about the risk of LME cracking.
- Patent Document 1 the steel plate is a single plate, and bendability and anti-collision characteristics are not examined.
- Patent Document 2 it is a hot working material (clad steel sheet for hot pressing), not a clad steel sheet for cold pressing.

- TS tensile strength
- C 0.050% or more and 0.350% or less C is an element effective for generating desired amounts of martensite, tempered martensite and retained austenite and ensuring a TS of 780 MPa or more. If the C content is less than 0.050%, the ferrite area ratio increases, making it difficult to increase the TS to 780 MPa or more. On the other hand, when the C content exceeds 0.350%, the volume fraction of retained austenite increases excessively, and the hardness of martensite generated from retained austenite during bending deformation increases greatly. This reduces bendability and anti-crash properties. Therefore, the content of C is set to 0.050% or more and 0.350% or less. The content of C is preferably 0.080% or more, more preferably 0.100% or more. Also, the C content is preferably 0.330% or less, more preferably 0.320% or less.
- Si 0.02% or more and 2.00% or less Si is an effective element for ensuring a TS of 780 MPa or more by solid solution strengthening. If the Si content is less than 0.02%, it becomes difficult to increase the TS to 780 MPa or more. On the other hand, when the Si content exceeds 2.00%, the scale of the base steel slab increases and the surface roughness Ra of the base steel slab increases. In addition, the maximum height Ry of the boundary roughness between the base material and the cladding material in the final material and the number of voids at the boundary between the base material and the cladding material increase, and the bendability and collision resistance deteriorate. Therefore, the Si content should be 0.02% or more and 2.00% or less. The Si content is preferably 0.20% or more, more preferably 0.40% or more. Also, the Si content is preferably 1.80% or less, more preferably 1.60% or less.
- Mn 1.80% or more and less than 3.50%
- Mn is an important element for adjusting the area ratio of martensite, tempered martensite and retained austenite. If the Mn content is less than 1.80%, the ferrite area ratio increases, making it difficult to increase the TS to 780 MPa or more. On the other hand, when the Mn content is 3.50% or more, the volume fraction of retained austenite increases excessively, and the hardness of martensite generated from retained austenite during bending deformation greatly increases. This reduces bendability and anti-crash properties. Therefore, the Mn content should be 1.80% or more and less than 3.50%.
- the Mn content is preferably 2.00% or more, more preferably 2.20% or more. Also, the Mn content is preferably 3.30% or less, more preferably 3.20% or less.
- P 0.001% or more and 0.100% or less
- P is an element that has a solid-solution strengthening action and can increase the strength of the steel sheet.
- the P content should be 0.001% or more.
- P segregates at the prior austenite grain boundaries and embrittles the grain boundaries.
- the P content is more preferably 0.030% or less.
- S 0.0200% or less S exists as a sulfide in steel, and if the content exceeds 0.0200%, there is a possibility that the ultimate deformability of the steel sheet is lowered. As a result, the amount of voids generated during bending deformation increases, and bendability and crash resistance deteriorate. Therefore, the S content is 0.0200% or less, preferably 0.0080% or less. Although the lower limit of the S content is not particularly specified, the S content is often 0.0001% or more due to production technology restrictions.
- Al 0.010% to 2.000%
- Al has an effect as a deoxidizing agent.
- the content of Al should be 0.010% or more.
- the Al content exceeds 2.000%, the area ratio of ferrite increases, making it difficult to increase the TS to 780 MPa or more. Therefore, the content of Al is set to 0.010% or more and 2.000% or less.
- N 0.0100% or less N exists as a nitride in steel, and if its content exceeds 0.0100%, it reduces the ultimate deformability of the steel sheet. As a result, the amount of voids generated during bending deformation increases, and bendability and crash resistance deteriorate. Therefore, the N content is set to 0.0100% or less. Also, the N content is preferably 0.0050% or less.

εl = -(εw+εt)
εw = ln(w/w0), εt = ln(t/t0)
