Definitions
- the present invention relates to a cosmetic composition for whitening comprising sodium pyruvate and at least one selected from the group consisting of urea and hydroxyethyl urea.
- Skin color is determined by melanin, hemoglobin, carotene, etc. Among them, melanin plays the most important role. In addition to determining the color of a person's skin, melanin also performs skin protection functions such as UV absorption and free radical scavengers. However, when melanin is excessively produced by external environmental changes such as excessive exposure to ultraviolet rays, air pollution, stress, etc., it causes pigmentation in the skin, which causes skin blackening (melanism) or blemishes and freckles. Blackening of the skin is caused by the reaction of skin cells to internal and external factors, and a representative factor is due to UV exposure.
- melanin when the skin is exposed to ultraviolet light, tyrosinase is activated, and the tyrosinase acts on tyrosine present in the skin tissue to produce dopa (DOPA) and dopaquinone (dopaquinone) by an oxidation process,
- DOPA dopa
- dopaquinone dopaquinone
- a polymer called melanin is synthesized in melanosomes in melanocytes, which are skin pigment cells, and this melanin is transferred to keratinocytes, which are keratinocytes of the skin, and reaches the skin surface through the keratinization process. It protects the skin from UV rays.
- melanin when melanin is locally synthesized excessively or the physiological function of the skin is deteriorated due to skin lesions and aging, melanin is deposited on the skin surface, causing melasma, freckles and various pigmentation.
- melanocyte precursor cells (melanoblasts) in the hair follicle epithelium, especially the bulge, and when melanocytes are removed from the basal layer of the interfollicular epidermis between hair follicles, melanocyte precursor cells are stored in this part.
- melanogenesis and melanin granules are converted into keratinocytes by interaction between adjacent cutaneous cells such as keratinocytes, fibroblasts or inflammatory cells as well as ultraviolet light. Dendrite outgrowth required for movement occurs and final differentiation occurs.
- a-melanocyte-stimulating hormone is a melanocyte differentiation-promoting material secreted from UV-exposed keratinocytes.
- melanocyte precursor cells and the M of microphtalmia-associated transcription factor (MITF) in melanocytes.
- MITF microphtalmia-associated transcription factor
- substances having an inhibitory effect on the activity of tyrosinase, an enzyme involved in the skin blackening process are compounded, or melanin
- a method of reducing the production of melanin by inhibiting some reactions during the production process is generally used.
- Representative materials used for this purpose include chemical substances such as ascorbic acid, kojic acid, hydroquinone, sodium pyruvate, and plant extracts such as sagebrush extract and licorice extract. There is this.
- ascorbic acid lacks tyrosinase activity inhibitory effect and is not suitable as a melanogenesis inhibitor due to low safety of the molecule itself. Therefore, there is a problem in stability such as a decrease in potency, and there is a limitation in use due to large skin irritation, and hydroquinone is limited in use in cosmetics due to skin irritation and safety problems. restricted to contain.
- sodium pyruvate as a new material for inhibiting melanin production.
- a thickener such as a cosmetic
- the thickening system is disrupted, resulting in a problem in which a high content of a thickener must be additionally used.
- a polymer thickener backbone such as Carbopol, which exists in the form of a random coil, is neutralized with an alkali substance in an aqueous solution to form an extended form, thereby forming a thickening system.
- the thickener backbone Due to the sodium salt dissociated from sodium pyruvate in high concentration, the thickener backbone is recoiled again in the form of a random coil, and the thickening system collapses, resulting in coalescence of emulsified particles and phase separation, resulting in lowering of viscosity and hardness. A problem has occurred. Accordingly, other ingredients that increase the viscosity and hardness must be included, and in that case, the feeling of use of the product is reduced, such as stickiness, heavy feeling, or difficulty in implementing soft application. Therefore, it is necessary to use sodium pyruvate itself within a range that does not lower the viscosity and hardness of the formulation, and in that case, a sufficient whitening effect due to sodium pyruvate could not be achieved.
- the present inventors found that when used together with at least one of hydroxyethyl urea and urea, the whitening effect was not achieved even with a low concentration of sodium pyruvate.
- the present invention was completed by confirming that it significantly increased and showed a remarkable whitening effect at the level using a high concentration of sodium pyruvate.
