Definitions
- the present invention integrally protects the occupant's head and the lateral parts of the shoulders, upper arms, and chest, for example, when the vehicle collides or rolls over, and if necessary, in addition to these parts, the abdomen. It relates to an airbag device that can protect up to the side of the waist.
- upper and “upper” mean the head direction of the occupant seated on the vehicle seat in the normal state
- lower and “lower” mean the foot direction of the occupant in the same state
- front and “front” mean the front direction of the occupant seated in the vehicle seat in the normal state
- rear mean the rear direction of the occupant in the same state
- left and “left” mean the left-hand direction of the occupant seated in the vehicle seat in the normal state
- right and “right” mean the right-hand direction of the occupant in the same state.
- a hood-type (shell-shaped) airbag that expands and expands from the storage part of the vehicle seat causes the occupant's head and the side of the occupant's shoulders, upper arms, and chest.
- An airbag device that integrally covers the portion to protect the occupant has been proposed (for example, Patent Documents 1 and 2).
- the airbag 2 of this type of airbag device 1 has a shape that is longer in the left-right direction than in the up-down direction when the uninflated airbag 2 is expanded and laid flat on a flat surface.
- the outer peripheral portion and the central portion in the left-right direction are sewn together to provide the sewn portions 4 and 5, so that the left and right sides of the sewn portion 5 can be expanded in the same shape.
- Chambers 2c are formed respectively.
- the left and right chambers 2c are located at the side protection chambers 2ca located on both left and right ends of the airbag 2 and at the center of the airbag 2 in the left-right direction by suturing the inside with the sewing portion 6. It is partitioned into a head protection chamber 2 kb.
- a vent 7 is formed between the side protection chamber 2ca and the head protection chamber 2cc by not connecting one end side of the sewing portion 6 with the sewing portion 4 on the outer peripheral portion. There is.
- the vent 7 allows gas to flow from the side protection chamber 2ca to the head protection chamber 2cc to supplement the supply of gas to the head protection chamber 2cc. ..
- the airbag 2 forms an insertion portion 2d of an inflator 3 in each of the left and right chambers 2c, supplies gas to the left and right chambers 2c from separate inflators 3, and the left and right chambers 2c are fluidly independent. It is configured to expand.
- a substantially Y-shaped gas guide 8 is provided in the insertion portion 2d.
- the gas guide 8 has an inlet 8a into which the inflator 3 is inserted, a first outlet 8b for guiding the gas ejected from the inflator 3 to the side protection chamber 2ca, and a second outlet for guiding the gas ejected from the inflator 3 to the head protection chamber 2cb. It has 8c.
- the cross-sectional area of the first outlet 8b and the second outlet 8c is appropriately determined by the amount of gas supplied to the side protection chamber 2ca and the head protection chamber 2cc.
- the airbag 2 is, for example, in a roll shape from one side of the frame 9b supporting the backrest portion 9a of the vehicle seat 9 to the other side via the upper portion. It is stored in a rolled state.
- the head protection chamber 2cb is housed in the upper part of the backrest portion 9a
- the side protection chamber 2ca is housed in the left and right side portions of the backrest portion 9a at opposite positions separated from each other.
- the upper part of the backrest portion 9a means the upper part of the headrest 9c in the case of the vehicle seat 9 in which the backrest portion 9a and the headrest 9c are integrally formed.
- the distance between the vehicle seat 9 containing the airbag 2 as described above and the roof and interior parts of the vehicle interior has become narrower. Therefore, when the airbag 2 is simply rolled into the backrest portion 9a as shown in FIG. 11, for example, from the stored state shown in FIG. 10, as shown in FIGS. 12A to 12E.
- the airbag 2 may interfere with the roof 10 of the vehicle interior and the interior component 11 (see FIGS. 12C and 12D). If the airbag 2 interferes with the roof 10 of the vehicle interior or the interior component 11 during expansion and deployment in this way, the expansion and deployment direction of the airbag 2 may change, and the initial protection performance may not be exhibited. In this case, the occupant 12 cannot be properly protected.
- the problem to be solved by the present invention is that when the airbag is simply rolled into a roll and stored in the backrest of the vehicle seat, it interferes with the roof and interior parts during expansion and expansion, and the expansion and expansion direction is changed. The point is that it may change and the initial protection performance may not be exhibited.
- the present invention solves the above-mentioned problems, and even when the distance between the vehicle seat and the roof or interior of the vehicle interior is narrow, the airbag interferes with the roof or interior during expansion and deployment.
- the purpose is to prevent this from happening and to provide the desired protection performance.
- the present invention includes an airbag that expands and expands so as to integrally cover the head and sides of an occupant seated on a vehicle seat, and an inflator that supplies gas to the airbag. It is a device.
- the airbag has a head protection chamber that covers the temporal region from the crown of the occupant and a side protection chamber that covers the lateral portion of the occupant in the expanded expansion completed state, and is in a roll shape.
- a stored state in which the vehicle seat is stored from one side of the backrest portion to the other side portion via the upper portion in a rolled state or a bellows-shaped folded state, the backrest of the airbag in the stored state is stored.
- An additional folded portion is provided on the outer peripheral portion extending from the attachment end side to the portion.
- the head protection chamber is housed in the upper part of the backrest portion, and the side protection chamber is housed in the left and right side portions of the backrest portion at opposite positions separated from each other.
- the upper part of the backrest portion means the upper part of the headrest in the case of a vehicle seat in which the backrest portion and the headrest are integrally formed.
- the rolled or folded state airbag has an additional folded portion in a part of the outer peripheral portion extending from the attachment end side to the backrest portion.
- the additional folded portion is provided so as to cover at least a rear portion of the rolled or bellows-shaped portion of the airbag in the stored state.
- the "rear side part” is a part on the opposite side to the seated occupant.
- the additional folded portion extends from the vicinity of the surface of the backrest portion to the vicinity of the upper portion along the shape of the outer peripheral portion on the opposite side of the airbag in the stored state, and is folded downward in the vicinity of the upper portion. It is connected to the remaining portion of the outer peripheral portion via the folded-back portion, and is provided so as to reach the vicinity of the surface of the backrest portion.
- the additional folded portion expands and expands to form a guide wall that determines the expansion and expansion direction of the airbag. It does not interfere and can demonstrate the desired protection performance.
- the airbag when the additional folded portion covers the outer peripheral portion of the outer peripheral portion of the airbag in the stored state on the opposite side of the seated occupant, the airbag expands when the seated occupant side is covered. This is because it becomes difficult to expand and deploy so as to serve as a guide wall that determines the deployment direction.
- the additional folded portion further covers the top portion of the airbag in the rolled state or the bellows-shaped folded state. This is because if the airbag has a length that covers not only the outer peripheral portion on the opposite side of the seated occupant but also the top portion of the airbag, the effect as a guide wall that determines the expansion and deployment direction of the airbag is improved. be.
- the additional folded portion also covers a part of the upper part on the seated occupant side, which is continuous from the top portion through the top portion of the airbag. This is because if there is a length that covers a part of the upper part on the seated occupant side, which is continuous from the top portion of the airbag through the top portion, the expansion / deployment direction of the airbag can be determined more reliably.
- the additional folded portion is provided at least in a portion corresponding to the head protection chamber. This is because the part that interferes mainly with the expansion and deployment of the airbag is the roof inside the vehicle interior.
- the additional folded portion expands and expands to form a guide wall.
- this guide wall By forming this guide wall at a position where the head protection chamber and the side protection chamber guided to the guide wall do not interfere with the roof and interior parts, the chamber that expands and expands later can be expanded. Does not interfere with roofs and interiors. Therefore, the desired protection performance can be exhibited and the occupants can be properly protected.

Abstract
