Description
本発明は、発光性化合物、発光性化合物の製造方法、発光性組成物、発光性薄膜及び発光性粒子に関し、特に、水溶性が高く、高濃度条件下においても濃度消光抑制効果により発光性に優れた発光性化合物等に関する。
ペリレンビスイミド誘導体は少なくとも1995年時点でその骨格が公知となっている物質である。ペリレンビスイミド誘導体は、潜在的に高い発光量子収率、高い堅牢性、発光波長調整の容易性及び合成の簡便性などの理由から発光材料などに利用されている(例えば、特許文献1参照)。
しかしながら、広いπ共役平面を有する多環式芳香族化合物であるペリレンビスイミド誘導体は、π-π*遷移に由来する発光を示し、希薄溶液中では高い発光量子収率を示す一方、元来高い脂溶性を有する芳香族化合物を水溶性色素として用いるうえで、色素のコア部分の疎水性効果による凝集と、それに由来した濃度消光による発光低下が問題であり、高濃度溶液又は固体中では、発光量子収率が著しく低下するという欠点を有していた。
そのため、例えば、免疫染色方法において蛍光体集積ナノ粒子に利用する場合は、母体となる小径の物質に蛍光色素として複数個内包したり、表面に付着させることで集積化するため、発光性は良好となるものの、高濃度条件下では色素の脂溶性の高い芳香族部位間での相互作用が疎水効果により特に強く働くため凝集し、濃度消光による発光低下が問題であった。
しかしながら、広いπ共役平面を有する多環式芳香族化合物であるペリレンビスイミド誘導体は、π-π*遷移に由来する発光を示し、希薄溶液中では高い発光量子収率を示す一方、元来高い脂溶性を有する芳香族化合物を水溶性色素として用いるうえで、色素のコア部分の疎水性効果による凝集と、それに由来した濃度消光による発光低下が問題であり、高濃度溶液又は固体中では、発光量子収率が著しく低下するという欠点を有していた。
そのため、例えば、免疫染色方法において蛍光体集積ナノ粒子に利用する場合は、母体となる小径の物質に蛍光色素として複数個内包したり、表面に付着させることで集積化するため、発光性は良好となるものの、高濃度条件下では色素の脂溶性の高い芳香族部位間での相互作用が疎水効果により特に強く働くため凝集し、濃度消光による発光低下が問題であった。
本発明は、上記問題・状況に鑑みてなされたものであり、その解決課題は、水溶性が高く、高濃度条件下においても濃度消光抑制効果により発光性に優れた発光性化合物及びその製造方法を提供することであり、また、当該発光性化合物を含有する発光性組成物、発光性薄膜及び発光性粒子を提供することである。
本発明者は、上記課題を解決すべく、上記問題の原因等について検討する過程において、脂溶性色素の各ベンゼン環に水溶性置換基が置換されたビフェニルオキシ基を導入することで、水溶性が高く、高濃度条件下においても濃度消光抑制効果が得られる発光性化合物等を提供することができることを見いだし本発明に至った。

本発明の上記手段により、水溶性が高く、高濃度条件下においても濃度消光抑制効果により発光性に優れた発光性化合物及びその製造方法を提供することであり、また、当該発光性化合物を含有する発光性組成物、発光性薄膜及び発光性粒子を提供することができる。
本発明の効果の発現機構又は作用機構については、明確にはなっていないが、以下のように推察している。
本発明の発光性化合物は、脂溶性色素の各ベンゼン環に水溶性置換基であるイオン性置換基が置換されたビフェニルオキシ基が導入されている。このイオン性置換基による静電反発により脂溶性色素コア間の相互作用が抑制されて、分子間の凝集を抑えることができる。その結果、高濃度条件下においても、凝集に起因する消光が小さくなり、発光性が向上すると推察される。
本発明の効果の発現機構又は作用機構については、明確にはなっていないが、以下のように推察している。
本発明の発光性化合物は、脂溶性色素の各ベンゼン環に水溶性置換基であるイオン性置換基が置換されたビフェニルオキシ基が導入されている。このイオン性置換基による静電反発により脂溶性色素コア間の相互作用が抑制されて、分子間の凝集を抑えることができる。その結果、高濃度条件下においても、凝集に起因する消光が小さくなり、発光性が向上すると推察される。

本発明の発光性化合物の製造方法は、2-ビフェニルオキシ基を有する色素分子をスルホン化することにより、各ベンゼン環にスルホ基を1つずつ導入する。これにより、一度に複数のイオン性置換基で置換することができ、製造効率に優れる。
本発明の発光性化合物は、発光性組成物、発光性薄膜及び発光性粒子に好適に用いられる。
以下、本発明とその構成要素及び本発明を実施するための形態・態様について説明をする。なお、本願において、「~」は、その前後に記載される数値を下限値及び上限値として含む意味で使用する。
[発光性化合物]
本発明の発光性化合物は、下記一般式(1)で表される構造を有する。

前記一般式(1)において、Xで表されるイオン性置換基としては、スルホ基、リン酸基、スルホン酸エステル基、リン酸エステル基又はアンモニウム基、カルボキシ基、ホスホニウム基若しくはそれらの塩のいずれかであることが好ましい。これらの中でも、スルホ基、リン酸基、スルホン酸エステル基、リン酸エステル基又はアンモニウム基若しくはそれらの塩のいずれかであることがより好ましく、特に、スルホ基又はその塩であることがより好ましい。具体的には、-SO3H、-SO3Na、-OSO3H、-OSO3Na、-SO3NH4、-PO4H2、-PO4Na、-OPO3H2、-OPO3Na2、-NMe3OH、-NMe3Cl等が挙げられる。
前記一般式(1)において、Lは、単結合、酸素原子、硫黄原子、セレン原子又はNH基を表し、特に、酸素原子であることが好ましい。
前記一般式(1)で表される構造が、下記一般式(2)で表される構造を有することが、濃度消光抑制効果に優れる点で好ましい。

本発明の発光性化合物の製造方法は、2-ビフェニルオキシ基を有する色素分子をスルホン化することにより、各ベンゼン環にスルホ基を1つずつ導入する。これにより、一度に複数のイオン性置換基で置換することができ、製造効率に優れる。

<発光量子収率>
発光量子収率は、吸収された光子数と放出された光子数の割合で表される。励起された分子の全てが蛍光によって基底状態に戻れば、発光量子収率は1となるが、実際は無輻射失活によって1とはならない。

したがって、発光量子収率を向上させるためには、励起状態にある分子の無輻射失活を抑えることが必要である。
本発明においては、無輻射失活を抑えるために、本発明の発光性化合物がイオン性置換基を有する。このイオン性置換基による静電反発により脂溶性色素コア間の相互作用が抑制されて、分子間の凝集が抑えることができる。その結果、凝集に起因する消光が小さくなり、発光性が向上すると推察される。

本発明の発光性化合物は、希薄溶液のみならず、高濃度溶液又は膜状態でも、濃度消光が抑制され、高い発光量子収率を示すことができる。

<溶液状態の発光量子収率の測定>
溶液状態の発光量子収率の測定は、発光性化合物を2-メチルテトラヒドロフランに溶解し、例えば蛍光量子収率測定装置(浜松ホトニクス製C11347-01)を用い絶対蛍光量子収率を測定し、これを発光量子収率として測定することができる。

<膜状態の発光量子収率の測定>
本発明の発光性化合物をイソプロピルアルコールで超音波洗浄し、乾燥窒素ガスで乾燥したのち、UVオゾン洗浄処理した石英基板(1cm角)をホットプレート上で150℃に加熱しながら各化合物のクロロベンゼン溶液を滴下し、その後150℃で30分焼成して単膜を作製する。蛍光量子収率測定装置(浜松ホトニクス製C11347-01)を用い窒素雰囲気下でこの単膜の絶対蛍光量子収率を測定し、これを発光量子収率として測定することができる。
本発明の発光性化合物をイソプロピルアルコールで超音波洗浄し、乾燥窒素ガスで乾燥したのち、UVオゾン洗浄処理した石英基板(1cm角)をホットプレート上で150℃に加熱しながら各化合物のクロロベンゼン溶液を滴下し、その後150℃で30分焼成して単膜を作製する。蛍光量子収率測定装置(浜松ホトニクス製C11347-01)を用い窒素雰囲気下でこの単膜の絶対蛍光量子収率を測定し、これを発光量子収率として測定することができる。
[用途]
本発明の発光性化合物は、希薄溶液のみならず、高濃度溶液又は膜状態でも、濃度消光が抑制され、高い発光量子収率を示すことができる。このような性質を有することから、本発明の発光性化合物は、発光性組成物、発光性薄膜、発光性粒子として用いることができる。
例えば、高効率発光材料として有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子等の有機電子デバイスへ応用することができる。また、新たなタイプの蛍光プローブ用色素として生物学及び医学における標識体として、バイオイメージに利用することができる。また、励起した電子が、基底状態へ戻る際に余分なエネルギーとして蛍光を放射する本発明の発光性化合物は、吸収と放出のエネルギーの違いから波長変換能を有しており、色変換フィルターとして、染料、顔料、光学フィルター、農業用フィルム等に用いることもできる。

[発光性組成物及び発光性薄膜]
本発明の発光性組成物は、本発明の発光性化合物を含有する。本発明の発光性組成物は、前記発光性化合物に、製膜安定性等のために分散剤を加えた組成物、
又はこれにさらに溶媒を加えた組成物として用いられることが好ましい。さらに、本発明の発光性薄膜は、本発明の発光性化合物を含有する。具体的には本発明の発光性組成物を薄膜状に形成することにより作製することができる。
本発明の発光性組成物は、本発明の発光性化合物を含有する。本発明の発光性組成物は、前記発光性化合物に、製膜安定性等のために分散剤を加えた組成物、
又はこれにさらに溶媒を加えた組成物として用いられることが好ましい。さらに、本発明の発光性薄膜は、本発明の発光性化合物を含有する。具体的には本発明の発光性組成物を薄膜状に形成することにより作製することができる。
分散剤としては、(メタ)アクリレート系樹脂、ポリエステル系樹脂、ポリアミド系樹脂、ポリイミド系樹脂、ポリスチレン系樹脂、ポリエポキシ系樹脂、ポリエステル系樹脂、アミノ系樹脂、フッ素系樹脂、フェノール系樹脂、ポリウレタン系樹脂、ポリエチレン系樹脂、ポリプロピレン系樹脂、ポリ塩化ビニル系樹脂、ポリビニルアルコール系樹脂、ポリエーテル系樹脂、ポリエーテルケトン系樹脂、ポリフェニレンスルフィド樹脂、ポリカーボネート系樹脂、アラミド樹脂等が挙げられるが、好ましくはポリスチレン系樹脂、ポリエチレン系樹脂、ポリプロピレン系樹脂、ポリ塩化ビニル系樹脂等である。また、これらの共重合体も同様に好ましい。
(メタ)アクリレート系樹脂とは、種々のメタクリレート系モノマー、又はアクリレート系モノマーを単独重合、又は共重合することにより合成され、モノマー種及びモノマー組成比を種々変えることによって、望みの(メタ)アクリレート系樹脂を得ることができる。また本発明においては、(メタ)アクリレート系モノマーと一緒に(メタ)アクリレート系モノマー以外の不飽和二重結合を有する共重合可能なモノマーとともに共重合しても使用可能であり、さらに本発明においては、ポリ(メタ)アクリレート系樹脂と一緒に他の複数の樹脂を混合しても使用可能である。
本発明において用いられる(メタ)アクリレート系樹脂を形成するモノマー成分としては、例えば、(メタ)アクリル酸、メチル(メタ)アクリレート、エチル(メタ)アクリレート、プロピル(メタ)アクリレート、ブチル(メタ)アクリレート、イソプロピル(メタ)アクリレート、イソブチル(メタ)アクリレート、t-ブチル(メタ)アクリレート、ステアリル(メタ)アクリレート、2-ヒドロキシエチル(メタ)アクリレート、アセトアセトキシエチル(メタ)アクリレート、ジメチルアミノエチル(メタ)アクリレート、2-ヒドロキシプロピル(メタ)アクリレート、ジ(エチレングリコール)エチルエーテル(メタ)アクリレート、エチレングリコールメチルエーテル(メタ)アクリレート、イソボニル(メタ)アクリレート、塩化エチルトリメチルアンモニウム(メタ)アクリレート、トリフルオロエチル(メタ)アクリレート、オクタフルオロペンチル(メタ)アクリレート、2-アセトアミドメチル(メタ)アクリレート、2-メトキシエチル(メタ)アクリレート、2-ジメチルアミノエチル(メタ)アクリレート、3-トリメトキシシランプロピル(メタ)アクリレート、ベンジル(メタ)アクリレート、トリデシル(メタ)アクリレート、4-ヒドロキシブチル(メタ)アクリレート、テトラヒドロフルフリル(メタ)アクリレート、ドデシル(メタ)アクリレート、オクタデシル(メタ)アクリレート、2-ジエチルアミノエチル(メタ)アクリレート、2-エチルヘキシル(メタ)アクリレート、シクロヘキシル(メタ)アクリレート、フェニル(メタ)アクリレート、グリシジル(メタ)アクリレート等が挙げられるが、好ましくは(メタ)アクリル酸、メチル(メタ)アクリレート、エチル(メタ)アクリレート、プロピル(メタ)アクリレート、ブチル(メタ)アクリレート、ステアリル(メタ)アクリレート、2-ヒドロキシエチル(メタ)アクリレート、アセトアセトキシエチル(メタ)アクリレート、ベンジル(メタ)アクリレート、トリデシル(メタ)アクリレート、ドデシル(メタ)アクリレート、2-エチルヘキシル(メタ)アクリレートである。
ポリスチレン系樹脂とは、スチレンモノマーの単独重合物、又はスチレンモノマーと共重合可能な他の不飽和二重結合を有するモノマーを共重合したランダム共重合体、ブロック共重合体、グラフト共重合体が挙げられる。さらに、かかるポリマーに他のポリマーを配合したブレンド物やポリマーアロイも含まれる。前記スチレンモノマーの例としては、スチレン、α-メチルスチレン、α-エチルスチレン、α-メチルスチレン-p-メチル
スチレン、o-メチルスチレン、m-メチルスチレン、p-メチルスチレン、等の核アルキル置換スチレン、o-クロルスチレン、m-クロルスチレン、p-クロルスチレン、p-ブロモスチレン、ジクロルスチレン、ジブロモスチレン、トリクロルスチレン、トリブロモスチレン等の核ハロゲン化スチレン等が挙げられるが、この中でスチレン、α-メチルスチレンが好ましい。
スチレン、o-メチルスチレン、m-メチルスチレン、p-メチルスチレン、等の核アルキル置換スチレン、o-クロルスチレン、m-クロルスチレン、p-クロルスチレン、p-ブロモスチレン、ジクロルスチレン、ジブロモスチレン、トリクロルスチレン、トリブロモスチレン等の核ハロゲン化スチレン等が挙げられるが、この中でスチレン、α-メチルスチレンが好ましい。
これらを単独重合又は共重合することによって本発明で用いられる樹脂は、例えば、ベンジルメタクリレート/エチルアクリレート、又はブチルアクリレート等の共重合体樹脂、またメチルメタクリレート/2-エチルヘキシルメタクリレート等の共重合体樹脂、またメチルメタクリレート/メタクリル酸/ステアリルメタクリレート/アセトアセトキシエチルメタクリレートの共重合体樹脂、またスチレン/アセトアセトキシエチルメタクリレート/ステアリルメタクリレートの共重合体樹脂、また、スチレン/2-ヒドロキシエチルメタクリレート/ステアリルメタクリレートの共重合体、さらには、2-エチルヘキシルメタクリレート/2-ヒドロキシエチルメタクリレート等の共重合体樹脂等が例として挙げられる。
本発明の発光性組成物及び発光性薄膜における発光性化合物の含有量は、上記分散剤100質量部に対する好ましい下限が0.001質量部、好ましい上限が50質量部である。上記発光性化合物の含有量がこの範囲内であると、高い透明性を有し、かつ、光線が照射されることにより高い輝度の画像を表示することができる。上記発光性化合物の含有量のより好ましい下限は0.01質量部、より好ましい上限は10質量部、さらに好ましい下限は0.05質量部、さらに好ましい上限は8質量部、特に好ましい下限は0.1質量部、特に好ましい上限は5質量部である。
また、本発明の発光性薄膜は、厚さ、0.1nm~1mmの範囲内で適宜用いることができる。

[発光性粒子]
本発明の発光性粒子は、本発明の発光性化合物を含有する。発光性化合物を粒子表面に吸着させた発光性粒子であっても、発光性化合物を内包した発光性粒子であってもよい。
例えば、液体中ポリマー粒子分散液中に発光性化合物を凝集させて発光性粒子を作製することができる。また、ポリマー粒子を溶媒に浸漬させた際に、該粒子が溶媒を吸収して体積が膨張する膨潤性ポリマーを用いて、発光性化合物を内包した発光性粒子であってもよい。
本発明の発光性粒子は、本発明の発光性化合物を含有する。発光性化合物を粒子表面に吸着させた発光性粒子であっても、発光性化合物を内包した発光性粒子であってもよい。
例えば、液体中ポリマー粒子分散液中に発光性化合物を凝集させて発光性粒子を作製することができる。また、ポリマー粒子を溶媒に浸漬させた際に、該粒子が溶媒を吸収して体積が膨張する膨潤性ポリマーを用いて、発光性化合物を内包した発光性粒子であってもよい。
ポリマー粒子は、市販品を用いてもよく、従来公知の方法で合成したものを用いてもよい。前記従来公知の方法としては、特に制限されないが、分散重合法、懸濁重合法、乳化重合法等が挙げられ、乳化重合法が好ましい。ポリマーの原料となるモノマーは、前記分散剤として挙げた各種モノマーを使用することができる。
また、液体中ポリマー分散液中に発光性化合物を凝集させる場合の溶媒は特に制限されない。公知の溶媒が使用できる。
前記ポリマー粒子の体積平均粒子径は、0.01~50μmの範囲内であることが好ましく、0.02~40μmであることがより好ましく、0.04~20μmであることがさらに好ましい。
体積平均粒子径が前記範囲にあることで、得られる発光性粒子を様々な用途に適用できる。前記体積平均粒子径は、具体的には、レーザー回折散乱光粒度分布測定装置、LS13320型にて測定することができる。
前記ポリマー粒子の重量平均分子量は、1000~1000,000の範囲内にあることが好ましく、5000~800000であることがより好ましく、10000~600000であることがさらに好ましい。
本発明の発光性粒子に含まれるポリマー粒子は、1種でもよく、2種以上でもよいが、通常は、1種である。
また、液体中ポリマー分散液中に発光性化合物を凝集させる場合の溶媒は特に制限されない。公知の溶媒が使用できる。
前記ポリマー粒子の体積平均粒子径は、0.01~50μmの範囲内であることが好ましく、0.02~40μmであることがより好ましく、0.04~20μmであることがさらに好ましい。
体積平均粒子径が前記範囲にあることで、得られる発光性粒子を様々な用途に適用できる。前記体積平均粒子径は、具体的には、レーザー回折散乱光粒度分布測定装置、LS13320型にて測定することができる。
前記ポリマー粒子の重量平均分子量は、1000~1000,000の範囲内にあることが好ましく、5000~800000であることがより好ましく、10000~600000であることがさらに好ましい。
本発明の発光性粒子に含まれるポリマー粒子は、1種でもよく、2種以上でもよいが、通常は、1種である。
[有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子]
有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子(有機EL素子)は、基板上に、発光する化合物(発光材料)を含有する発光層を、陰極と陽極で挟んだ構成を有し、発光層に電子及び正孔を注入して、再結合させることにより励起子を生成させ、この励起子が失活する際の光の放出を利用して発光する素子である。本発明の発光性化合物を蛍光発光材料として有機EL素子に適用することができる。
有機EL素子の層構成の好ましい具体例を以下に示す。
(i)陽極/発光層/電子輸送層/陰極
(ii)陽極/正孔輸送層/発光層/電子輸送層/陰極
(iii)陽極/正孔輸送層/発光層/正孔阻止層/電子輸送層/陰極
(iv)陽極/正孔輸送層/発光層/正孔阻止層/電子輸送層/陰極バッファー層/陰極
(v)陽極/陽極バッファー層/正孔輸送層/発光層/正孔阻止層/電子輸送層/陰極バッファー層/陰極
ここで、正孔輸送層には正孔注入層、電子阻止層の概念も含まれる。
有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子(有機EL素子)は、基板上に、発光する化合物(発光材料)を含有する発光層を、陰極と陽極で挟んだ構成を有し、発光層に電子及び正孔を注入して、再結合させることにより励起子を生成させ、この励起子が失活する際の光の放出を利用して発光する素子である。本発明の発光性化合物を蛍光発光材料として有機EL素子に適用することができる。
有機EL素子の層構成の好ましい具体例を以下に示す。

(v)陽極/陽極バッファー層/正孔輸送層/発光層/正孔阻止層/電子輸送層/陰極バッファー層/陰極
ここで、正孔輸送層には正孔注入層、電子阻止層の概念も含まれる。
発光層は、電極又は電子輸送層、正孔輸送層から注入されてくる電子及び正孔が再結合して発光する層であり、発光する部分は発光層の層内であっても発光層と隣接層との界面であってもよい。発光層に本発明の発光性化合物を用いることができる。濃度消光が少ないため膜状であっても、高い発光量子収率が実現できる。

発光層には他の蛍光発光材料やリン光発光材等公知の材料を併用することができる。電荷注入層は、駆動電圧低下や発光輝度向上のために、電極と発光層の間に設けられる層のことで、正孔注入層と電子注入層とがある。
正孔輸送層は、正孔を輸送する機能を有する正孔輸送材料からなり、広い意味で正孔注入層及び電子阻止層も正孔輸送層の機能を有する。正孔輸送層は単層又は複数層設けることができる。

[バイオイメージ]
本発明の発光性化合物は、蛍光色素として利用可能である。バイオイメージへの適用としては、蛍光色素で生細胞を染色した後、染色した細胞の発光色を調べることで、その発光色から細胞の周囲の環境を知ることができ、細胞内環境のイメージングが可能になる。
例えば、目的とする生体物質の発現状態を知るため、当該目的生体物質を認識して結合可能な生体物質認識部位が結合された蛍光物質集積ナノ粒子を用いて蛍光標識する技術が知られている。具体的には、組織標本を蛍光物質集積ナノ粒子により染色し、蛍光発光輝点の輝度分布のピークを解析して一粒子当たりの平均輝度値を求め、各輝点内の粒子数を算出すし、算出された粒子数を比較することで、目的生体物質の発現レベルを評価することができる。
本発明の発光性化合物は発光量子収率が高いため、蛍光物質集積ナノ粒子の一粒子当たりの輝度値を高くすることができる。したって、この様なバイオイメージに適用したとき、微量の生体物質を定量的に検出することができる利点を有する。
本発明の発光性化合物は、蛍光色素として利用可能である。バイオイメージへの適用としては、蛍光色素で生細胞を染色した後、染色した細胞の発光色を調べることで、その発光色から細胞の周囲の環境を知ることができ、細胞内環境のイメージングが可能になる。

本発明の発光性化合物は発光量子収率が高いため、蛍光物質集積ナノ粒子の一粒子当たりの輝度値を高くすることができる。したって、この様なバイオイメージに適用したとき、微量の生体物質を定量的に検出することができる利点を有する。
[色変換フィルター]
色変換フィルターは、例えば、液晶表示装置(LCD)、プラズマディスプレイパネル(PDP)、エレクトロルミネッセンスディスプレイ(ELD)、陰極管表示装置(CRT)、蛍光表示管、電界放射型ディスプレイ等の画像表示装置及びLED照明、エレクトロルミネッセンス照明等の照明装置に用いることができる。画像表示装置に用いた場合、表示輝度を落とさずに好ましい色相へ補正することができ、照明装置(特にLED照明)に用いた場合はより自然に感じる白色光を得ることができる。
色変換フィルターは、蛍光を放射する本発明の発光性化合物を少なくとも一つ含有している点以外は、従来の光学フィルターと同様でよく、その構成に制限はないが、例えば、従来のものと同様、少なくとも支持体を有し、必要に応じて、光学機能層、下塗り層、反射防止層、ハードコート層、潤滑層等の各種機能層を有することができる。色変換フィルターにおいて、蛍光を放射する本発明の発光性化合物は、支持体及び各種機能層のいずれかに含まれていればよく、通常、支持体又は光学機能層に含有されていることが好ましい。また、色変換フィルターの大きさ及び形状は、特に制限されず、用途に応じて適宜決定される。
色変換フィルターは、例えば、液晶表示装置(LCD)、プラズマディスプレイパネル(PDP)、エレクトロルミネッセンスディスプレイ(ELD)、陰極管表示装置(CRT)、蛍光表示管、電界放射型ディスプレイ等の画像表示装置及びLED照明、エレクトロルミネッセンス照明等の照明装置に用いることができる。画像表示装置に用いた場合、表示輝度を落とさずに好ましい色相へ補正することができ、照明装置(特にLED照明)に用いた場合はより自然に感じる白色光を得ることができる。
色変換フィルターは、蛍光を放射する本発明の発光性化合物を少なくとも一つ含有している点以外は、従来の光学フィルターと同様でよく、その構成に制限はないが、例えば、従来のものと同様、少なくとも支持体を有し、必要に応じて、光学機能層、下塗り層、反射防止層、ハードコート層、潤滑層等の各種機能層を有することができる。色変換フィルターにおいて、蛍光を放射する本発明の発光性化合物は、支持体及び各種機能層のいずれかに含まれていればよく、通常、支持体又は光学機能層に含有されていることが好ましい。また、色変換フィルターの大きさ及び形状は、特に制限されず、用途に応じて適宜決定される。
以下、実施例を挙げて本発明を具体的に説明するが、本発明はこれらに限定されるものではない。なお、下記実施例において、特記しない限り、操作は室温(25℃)で行われた。また、特記しない限り、「%」及び「部」は、それぞれ、「質量%」及び「質量部」を意味する。
[本発明の例示化合物1-1の合成]
本発明の例示化合物1-1を以下に示す合成手順にしたがって合成した。
1,6,7,12-テトラクロロペリレンテトラカルボン酸二無水物(富士フイルム和光純薬社製、製品番号W01COBQA-7294)に2,6-ジイソプロピルアニリンとプロピオン酸を加え、溶媒中で3時間還流させて反応させた。シリカゲルカラムクロマトグラフィーにより精製し、中間体1を橙色固体として得た(収率80%)。
次に、得られた中間体1をN-メチルピロリドン(NMP)に溶解し、2-フェニルフェノールを加え、炭酸カリウム(K2CO3)の存在下、140℃で18時間反応させた。シリカゲルカラムクロマトグラフィーにより精製し、中間体2を暗赤色固体として得た(収率68%)。
次に、中間体2と過剰の濃硫酸を室温下で2日間反応させた。中圧逆相カラムクロマトグラフィーにより精製し、本発明の例示化合物1-1を暗紫色固体として得た(収率30%)。
合成スキームを下記に示す。
本発明の例示化合物1-1を以下に示す合成手順にしたがって合成した。

合成スキームを下記に示す。
[ドープ膜状態での発光量子収率の評価]
イソプロピルアルコールで超音波洗浄し、乾燥窒素ガスで乾燥したのち、UVオゾン洗浄処理した石英基板(1cm角)に、合成した本発明の例示化合物1-1、ポリメチルメタクリレート(PMMA)のプロピレングリコールモノメチルエーテル(PGME)溶液を滴下し、スピンコートにより製膜した。蛍光量子収率測定装置(浜松ホトニクス製C11347-01)を用い窒素雰囲気下で絶対蛍光量子収率を測定しこれをドープ膜状態での発光量子収率とした。
色素ドープ濃度が1%のときの量子収率を1とし、ドープ濃度を増加させた際の量子収率変化を図1に示した。
前記比較化合物1及び比較化合物2についても、同様にして絶対蛍光量子収率を測定し、色素ドープ濃度を増加させた際の量子収率変化を図1に示した。
イソプロピルアルコールで超音波洗浄し、乾燥窒素ガスで乾燥したのち、UVオゾン洗浄処理した石英基板(1cm角)に、合成した本発明の例示化合物1-1、ポリメチルメタクリレート(PMMA)のプロピレングリコールモノメチルエーテル(PGME)溶液を滴下し、スピンコートにより製膜した。蛍光量子収率測定装置(浜松ホトニクス製C11347-01)を用い窒素雰囲気下で絶対蛍光量子収率を測定しこれをドープ膜状態での発光量子収率とした。
色素ドープ濃度が1%のときの量子収率を1とし、ドープ濃度を増加させた際の量子収率変化を図1に示した。
前記比較化合物1及び比較化合物2についても、同様にして絶対蛍光量子収率を測定し、色素ドープ濃度を増加させた際の量子収率変化を図1に示した。
図1に示す結果から、本発明の発光性化合物(例示化合物1-1)は、比較化合物1及び比較化合物2に比べて、ドープ濃度増加に伴う濃度消光を抑制でき、発光性に優れることがわかる。
[実施例2]
<発光性粒子の作製>
合成した本発明の発光性化合物(例示化合物1-1)を水22mLに加えて溶解した。その後、この溶液に乳化重合用乳化剤のエマルジョン(登録商標)430(ポリオキシエチレンオレイルエーテル、花王社製)の5%水溶液を2mL加えた。この溶液をホットスターラー上で撹拌しながら70℃まで昇温させた後、この溶液にメラミン樹脂原料ニカラックMX-035(日本カーバイド工業社製)を0.65g加えた。
さらに、この溶液に界面活性剤としてドデシルベンゼンスルホン酸(関東化学社製)の10%水溶液を1000μL加え、70℃で50分間加熱撹拌した。その後、90℃に昇温して20分間加熱撹拌した。得られた色素樹脂粒子の分散液から、余剰の樹脂原料や蛍光色素等の不純物を除くため、純水による洗浄を行った。
具体的には、遠心分離機(クボタ社製マイクロ冷却遠心機3740)にて20000Gで15分間、遠心分離し、上澄み除去後、超純水を加えて超音波照射して再分散した。遠心分離、上澄み除去及び超純水への再分散による洗浄を5回繰り返した。 得られた蛍光性粒子の水分散液を蛍光量子収率測定装置(C11347-01、浜松ホトニクス社製)を用い絶対蛍光量子収率を測定し、これを発光性粒子での発光量子収率とした。
前記比較化合物1及び比較化合物2についても同様の手法で発光性粒子の作製、発光量子収率の測定を行った。
粒子内の色素濃度が20%になるように色素量を調整し、作製した発光性粒子の発光量子収率を表Iに示した。
<発光性粒子の作製>
合成した本発明の発光性化合物(例示化合物1-1)を水22mLに加えて溶解した。その後、この溶液に乳化重合用乳化剤のエマルジョン(登録商標)430(ポリオキシエチレンオレイルエーテル、花王社製)の5%水溶液を2mL加えた。この溶液をホットスターラー上で撹拌しながら70℃まで昇温させた後、この溶液にメラミン樹脂原料ニカラックMX-035(日本カーバイド工業社製)を0.65g加えた。
さらに、この溶液に界面活性剤としてドデシルベンゼンスルホン酸(関東化学社製)の10%水溶液を1000μL加え、70℃で50分間加熱撹拌した。その後、90℃に昇温して20分間加熱撹拌した。得られた色素樹脂粒子の分散液から、余剰の樹脂原料や蛍光色素等の不純物を除くため、純水による洗浄を行った。
具体的には、遠心分離機(クボタ社製マイクロ冷却遠心機3740)にて20000Gで15分間、遠心分離し、上澄み除去後、超純水を加えて超音波照射して再分散した。遠心分離、上澄み除去及び超純水への再分散による洗浄を5回繰り返した。 得られた蛍光性粒子の水分散液を蛍光量子収率測定装置(C11347-01、浜松ホトニクス社製)を用い絶対蛍光量子収率を測定し、これを発光性粒子での発光量子収率とした。
前記比較化合物1及び比較化合物2についても同様の手法で発光性粒子の作製、発光量子収率の測定を行った。
粒子内の色素濃度が20%になるように色素量を調整し、作製した発光性粒子の発光量子収率を表Iに示した。
表Iに示す結果から、本発明の発光性化合物(例示化合物1-1)は、比較化合物1及び比較化合物2に比べて、ドープ濃度増加に伴う濃度消光を抑制でき、発光性に優れることが分かる。
本発明は、水溶性が高く、高濃度条件下においても濃度消光抑制効果により発光性に優れた発光性化合物、発光性化合物の製造方法、発光性組成物、発光性薄膜及び発光性粒子に利用することができる。
Claims (11)
- 前記一般式(1)において、Xで表されるイオン性置換基が、スルホ基、リン酸基、スルホン酸エステル基、リン酸エステル基又はアンモニウム基若しくはそれらの塩のいずれかである請求項1から請求項3までのいずれか一項に記載の発光性化合物。
- 前記一般式(1)において、Lが酸素原子である請求項1から請求項4までのいずれか一項に記載の発光性化合物。
- 前記一般式(1)において、Xで表されるイオン性置換基が、スルホ基又はその塩のいずれかである請求項1から請求項5までのいずれか一項に記載の発光性化合物。
- 請求項1から請求項7までのいずれか一項に記載の発光性化合物を含有する発光性組成物。
- 請求項1から請求項7までのいずれか一項に記載の発光性化合物を含有する発光性薄膜。
- 請求項1から請求項7までのいずれか一項に記載の発光性化合物を含有する発光性粒子。
