- the lower surface 5 may have a lower restraint surface 23.
- the lower restraint surface 23 may be located on the entire lower surface 5, or may be located only on a part of the lower surface 5.
- the lower restraint surface 23 can abut (contact) with the holder when the insert 1 is attached to the holder. By bringing the lower restraint surface 23 and the upper restraint surface 17 into contact with the holder, the insert 1 can be gripped by the holder.
- the lower restraint surface 23 may have a lower groove 25 extending from a region located near the front side surface 7 toward the rear side surface 9.
- the lower groove 25 may be opened with respect to the front side surface 7 or may be separated from the front side surface 7.
- the lower groove 25 may be opened with respect to the rear side surface 9 or may be separated from the rear side surface 9.
- the lower groove 25 may be separated from the front side surface 7 and the rear side surface 9.
- the lower groove 25 since the lower groove 25 extends from the front side surface 7 side toward the rear side surface 9 side, it may be said that the lower groove 25 extends parallel to the central axis O1.
- the lower groove 25 may have a V-shape in a cross section orthogonal to the extending direction, in other words, a cross section orthogonal to the central axis O1.
- the fact that the lower groove 25 has a V shape may mean that the lower groove 25 has a pair of inclined surfaces 27 whose spacing becomes wider as the distance from the bottom of the lower groove 25 increases. Therefore, for example, a concave curved surface 29 connecting a pair of inclined surfaces 27 may be located at the bottom of the lower groove 25.
- the pair of inclined surfaces 27 may have a linear shape in a cross-sectional view, as in the non-limiting example shown in FIGS. 7 to 9.
- the lower groove 25 may have a first region 31, a second region 33, and a third region 35.

- the lower groove 25 may further have a first portion 45 and a second portion 47 that can come into contact with the holder.
- the first portion 45 and the second portion 47 may face each other with the bottom of the lower groove 25 interposed therebetween.
- the first portion 45 and the second portion 47 can make line contact with the holder when the insert 1 is attached to the holder.
- the first portion 45 and the second portion 47 may extend continuously from the region located near the front side surface 7 toward the rear side surface 9, or may extend discontinuously.
- the shapes of the first region 31, the second region 33, and the third region 35 in the cross section orthogonal to the extending direction of the lower groove 25, in other words, the cross section orthogonal to the central axis O1, may be compared.
- the length of the line segment connecting the first portion 45 and the second portion 47 in the first region 31 is defined in the first length L11 and the second region 33.
- the length of the line segment connecting the first location 45 and the second location 47 is the second length L12
- the length of the line segment connecting the first location 45 and the second location 47 in the third region 35 is the third length L13. May be.
- the first length L11 may be longer than the second length L12 and the third length L13. In this case, the durability of the insert 1 is high. Since the first length L11 is relatively long, it is easy to secure a high height from the bottom of the lower groove 25 in the first region 31 to the first portion 45 and the second portion 47. Therefore, the position of the insert 1 is less likely to shift in the direction orthogonal to the central axis O1 when viewed from above.
- the main component force applied to the insert 1 during cutting is applied to the second region 33 located on the front side surface 7 side and the rear side surface. It is easy to catch in the third region 35 located on the side of 9. Since the main component force is easily received in the second region 33 and the third region 35, it is difficult for the main component force to be applied to the first region 31 located between these regions. Therefore, the durability of the insert 1 is high.
- the first length L11, the second length L12, and the third length L13 are not limited to specific values.
- the first length L11 may be set to, for example, 1 to 12 mm.
- the second length L12 may be set to, for example, 0.25 to 2.5 mm.
- the third length L13 may be set to, for example, 0.25 to 2.5 mm.
- the first length L11, the second length L12, and the third length L13 may be constant or may be changed, respectively.
- the first length L11 may change
- the second length L12 and the third length L13 may be constant.
- the length of the line segment connecting the first portion 45 and the second portion 47 as the first region 31 is located on the side of the front side surface 7 and approaches the rear side surface 9 (first length L11).
- the first portion 37 may be located on the front side surface 7 side of the center of the first region 31 in the extending direction of the lower groove 25.
- the second portion 39 may be located on the rear side surface 9 side of the center of the first region 31 in the extending direction of the lower groove 25.
- the portion located between the first portion 37 and the second portion 39 and including the center of the first region 31 is the length of the line segment connecting the first portion 45 and the second portion 47 (first length). L11) may be constant.
- the length of the line segment connecting the first portion 45 and the second portion 47 changes sharply at the boundary between the first region 31 and the second region 33. It is easy to avoid doing. Further, when the first region 31 has the second portion 39 described above, the length of the line segment connecting the first portion 45 and the second portion 47 at the boundary between the first region 31 and the third region 35 is abrupt. It is easy to avoid changing to. Therefore, the durability of the insert 1 is even higher.
- the maximum values of the respective maximum values may be compared.
- the second length L12 may be the same as the third length L13, or may be different from the third length L13. As in the non-limiting example shown in FIGS. 8 and 9, the second length L12 may be longer than the third length L13.
- the second region 33 may be located closer to the front surface 7 as compared to the first region 31 and the third region 35. That is, the second region 33 may be located closer to the first upper blade 15 as compared with the first region 31 and the third region 35.
- the second length L12 in the second region 33 which may be located near the first upper blade 15 to which a cutting load is applied during cutting, is longer than the third length L13, the central axis when viewed from above.
- the position of the insert 1 is less likely to shift in the direction orthogonal to O1.
- the upper restraint surface 17 may have an upper groove 41 extending from a region located near the front side surface 7 toward the rear side surface 9.
- the upper groove 41 may be opened with respect to the front side surface 7 or may be separated from the front side surface 7.
- the upper groove 41 may be opened with respect to the rear side surface 9 or may be separated from the rear side surface 9.
- the upper groove 41 extends from the front side surface 7 side toward the rear side surface 9 side, it may be paraphrased that the upper groove 41 extends parallel to the central axis O1.
- the upper groove 41 may have a V-shape in a cross section orthogonal to the extending direction, in other words, a cross section orthogonal to the central axis O1. That is, the upper groove 41 may have a pair of inclined surfaces 53 whose spacing becomes wider as the distance from the bottom of the upper groove 41 increases.
- the insert 1 When the upper restraint surface 17 has the upper groove 41, the insert 1 can be stably gripped by the holder. In particular, when the upper groove 41 extends parallel to the lower groove 25, the insert 1 can be gripped more stably by the holder.
- the upper groove 41 may have a third portion 49 and a fourth portion 51 that can come into contact with the holder.
- the third portion 49 and the fourth portion 51 may face each other with the bottom of the upper groove 41 interposed therebetween.
- the length of the line segment connecting the third portion 49 and the fourth portion 51 may be the fourth length L4.
- the first length L11 may be the same as the fourth length L4, or may be different from the fourth length L4.
- the insert 1 can be stably gripped by the holder.
- the third region 35 may have a first portion 43 located on the opposite side of the upper restraint surface 17, and the third length L13 in the first portion 43 is the same as the fourth length L4. You may.
- the length of the line segment connecting the two boundaries of the pair of inclined surfaces 27 and the concave curved surface 29 in the first region 31 may be the fifth length L21.
- the width of the concave curved surface 29 in the first region 31 may match the fifth length L21 as in the non-limiting example shown in FIG. 7.
- the length of the line segment connecting the two boundaries of the pair of inclined surfaces 27 and the concave curved surface 29 in the second region 33 may be the sixth length L22.
- the width of the concave curved surface 29 in the second region 33 may match the width of the sixth length L22, as in the non-limiting example shown in FIG.
- the length of the line segment connecting the two boundaries of the pair of inclined surfaces 27 and the concave curved surface 29 in the third region 35 may be the seventh length L23.
- the width of the concave curved surface 29 in the third region 35 may match the width of the seventh length L23, as in the non-limiting example shown in FIG.
- the fifth length L21 may be the same as the sixth length L22 and the seventh length L23, or may be different from the sixth length L22 and the seventh length L23. As in the non-limiting example shown in FIGS. 7 to 9, the fifth length L21 may be longer than the sixth length L22 and the seventh length L23. When the sixth length L22 and the seventh length L23 are relatively short, a wide area of the pair of inclined surfaces 27 in the second region 33 and the third region 35 is secured.
- the region of the pair of inclined surfaces 27 is more durable to the above-mentioned main component force than the concave curved surface 29 when it comes into contact with the holder. Therefore, for example, even if the insert 1 is slightly displaced during cutting, the main component force applied to the insert 1 is stable and easily received by the pair of inclined surfaces 27.
- the fifth length L21 is relatively long, it is easy to avoid excessive stress concentration on the bottom of the lower groove 25. Therefore, cracks are unlikely to occur at the bottom of the lower groove 25. Further, even if a crack is generated at the bottom of the lower groove 25 in the second region 33, the crack is unlikely to extend to the third region 35. Similarly, even if a crack is generated at the bottom of the lower groove 25 in the third region 35, the crack is unlikely to extend to the second region 33.
- the radius of curvature of the concave curved surface 29 in the first region 31 may be larger than the radius of curvature of the concave curved surface 29 in the second region 33 and the third region 35. In this case, it is easier to avoid excessive stress concentration on the bottom of the lower groove 25.
- the radius of curvature at the bottom of the lower groove 25 in each of the first region 31, the second region 33, and the third region 35 may be compared.
- a concave curved surface 29 connecting a pair of inclined surfaces 27 may be located at the bottom of the lower groove 25.
- the bottom of the concave curved surface shape in the first region 31 may be the first bottom portion 29a
- the pair of inclined surfaces 27 in the first region 31 may be the first inclined surface 27a. That is, the first region 31 may have a first bottom portion 29a having a concave curved surface shape and a flat first inclined surface 27a connected to the first bottom portion 29a along the extending direction of the lower groove 25.
- the width of the first bottom portion 29a in the extending direction of the lower groove 25 may be the first width W1
- the width of the first inclined surface 27a in the extending direction of the lower groove 25 may be the second width W2.
- the maximum value of the first width W1 may be smaller than the maximum value of the second width W2. In this case, the position shift of the insert 1 in the direction orthogonal to the central axis O1 when viewed from above is less likely to occur.
- the bottom of the concave curved surface shape in the second region 33 may be the second bottom portion 29b, and the pair of inclined surfaces 27 in the second region 33 may be the second inclined surface 27b. That is, the second region 33 may have a second bottom portion 29b having a concave curved surface shape and a flat second inclined surface 27b connected to the second bottom portion 29b along the extending direction of the lower groove 25.
- the width of the second bottom portion 29b in the extending direction of the lower groove 25 may be the third width W3, and the width of the second inclined surface 27b in the extending direction of the lower groove 25 may be the fourth width W4.
- the maximum value of the third width W3 may be larger than the maximum value of the fourth width W4. In this case, the durability of the second region 33 is high.
