図 1 ( 3 ) は、 本開示の第 1実施形態に係る液体吐出ヘッ ド 2 (以下で単 にヘッ ドということがある。 ) を含むカラーインクジェッ トプリンタ 1 (記 録装置の一例。 以下で単にプリンタということがある) の概略の側面図であ る。 図 1 ( 13 ) は、 プリンタ 1の概略の平面図である。

、 イエロー (丫) 、 シアン (〇) およびブラック (<) である。 このような インクを印刷用紙 に着弾させることにより、 カラー画像を印刷できる。
[0017] プリンタ 1 に搭載されているへッ ド 2の個数は、 単色で、 1個のヘッ ド 2 で印刷可能な範囲を印刷するのであれば、 1個でもよい。 へッ ド群 7 2に含 まれるへッ ド 2の個数や、 へッ ド群 7 2の数は、 印刷する対象や印刷条件に より適宜変更できる。 例えば、 さらに多色の印刷をするためにヘッ ド群 7 2 の数を増やしてもよい。 また、 同色で印刷するヘッ ド群 7 2を複数配置して 、 搬送方向に交互に印刷すれば、 同じ性能のヘッ ド 2を使用しても搬送速度 を速くできる。 これにより、 時間当たりの印刷面積を大きくすることができ る。 また、 同色で印刷するヘッ ド群 7 2を複数準備して、 搬送方向と交差す る方向にずらして配置して、 印刷用紙 の幅方向の解像度を高く してもよい

体として液体が浸み込み難いものを用いる場合において、 液体が定着し易い ように、 液体受容層を形成するものを使用できる。 他に、 コーティング剤と しては、 記録媒体として液体が浸み込み易いものを用いる場合において、 液 体のにじみが大きくなり過ぎたり、 隣に着弾した別の液体とあまり混じり合 わないように、 液体浸透抑制層を形成するものを使用できる。 コーティング 剤は、 ヘッ ド 2で印刷する以外に、 制御部 8 8が制御する塗布機 7 6で一様 に塗布してもよい。
[0019] プリンタ 1は、 記録媒体である印刷用紙 に印刷を行なう。 印刷用紙 は 、 給紙口ーラ 8 0八に巻き取られた状態になっており、 給紙口ーラ 8 0八か ら送り出された印刷用紙 は、 フレーム 7 0に搭載されているへッ ド 2の下 側を通り、 その後 2個の搬送口ーラ 8 2 (3の間を通り、 最終的に回収口ーラ 8 0巳に回収される。 印刷する際には、 搬送口ーラ 8 2〇を回転させること で印刷用紙 は、 一定速度で搬送され、 ヘッ ド 2によって印刷される。
[0020] 続いて、 プリンタ 1の詳細について、 印刷用紙 が搬送される順に説明す る。 給紙口ーラ 8〇八から送り出された印刷用紙 は、 2つのガイ ドローラ 8 2 の間を通った後、 塗布機 7 6の下を通る。 塗布機 7 6は、 印刷用紙 に、 上述のコーティング剤を塗布する。
[0021 ] 印刷用紙 は、 続いて、 ヘッ ド 2が搭載されたフレーム 7 0を収納した、 ヘッ ド室 7 4に入る。 ヘッ ド室 7 4は、 印刷用紙 が出入りする部分などの 一部において外部と繫がっているが、 概略、 外部と隔離された空間である。 ヘッ ド室 7 4は、 必要に応じて、 制御部 8 8等によって、 温度、 湿度、 およ び気圧等の制御因子が制御される。 へッ ド室 7 4では、 プリンタ 1が設置さ れている外部と比較して、 外乱の影響を少なくできるので、 上述の制御因子 の変動範囲を外部よりも狭くできる。
[0022] ヘッ ド室 7 4には、 5個のガイ ドローラ 8 2巳が配置されており、 印刷用 紙 は、 ガイ ドローラ 8 2巳の上を搬送される。 5個のガイ ドローラ 8 2巳 は、 側面から見て、 フレーム 7 0が配置されている方向に向けて、 中央が凸 になるように配置されている。 これにより、 5個のガイ ドローラ 8 2巳の上 \¥02020/175059 6 卩(:171?2020/004317
を搬送される印刷用紙 は、 側面から見て円弧状になっており、 印刷用紙 に張力を加えることで、 各ガイ ドローラ 8 2巳間の印刷用紙 が平面状にな るように張られる。 2つ個ガイ ドローラ 8 2巳の間には、 1個のフレーム 7 0が配置されている。 フレーム 7 0は、 その下を搬送される印刷用紙 と平 行になるように、 設置される角度が少しずつ変えられている。
[0023] ヘッ ド室 7 4から外に出た印刷用紙 は、 2つの搬送口ーラ 8 2〇の間を 通り、 乾燥機 7 8の中を通り、 2個のガイ ドローラ 8 2〇の間を通り、 回収 口ーラ 8 0巳に回収される。 印刷用紙 の搬送速度は、 例えば、 1 0 0〇! / 分とされる。 各口ーラは、 制御部 8 8によって制御されてもよいし、 人によ って手動で操作されてもよい。
[0024] 乾燥機 7 8で乾燥することにより、 回収口ーラ 8 0巳において、 重なって 巻き取られる印刷用紙 同士が接着したり、 未乾燥の液体が擦れることが起 き難くなる。 高速で印刷するためには、 乾燥も速く行なう必要がある。 乾燥 を速くするため、 乾燥機 7 8では、 複数の乾燥方式により順番に乾燥しても よいし、 複数の乾燥方式を併用して乾燥してもよい。 そのような際に用いら れる乾燥方式としては、 例えば、 温風の吹き付け、 赤外線の照射、 加熱した 口ーラへの接触などがある。 赤外線を照射する場合は、 印刷用紙 へのダメ —ジを少なく しつつ乾燥を速くできるように、 特定の周波数範囲の赤外線を 当ててもよい。 印刷用紙 を加熱した口ーラに接触させる場合は、 印刷用紙 を口ーラの円筒面に沿って搬送させることで、 熱が伝わる時間を長く して もよい。 口ーラの円筒面に沿って搬送させる範囲は、 口ーラの円筒面の 1 / 4周以上がよく、 さらに口ーラの円筒面の 1 / 2周以上にするのがよい。 II V硬化インク等を印刷する場合には、 乾燥機 7 8の代わりに、 あるいは乾燥 機 7 8に追加して II V照射光源を配置してもよい。 II V照射光源は、 各フレ —ム 7 0の間に配置してもよい。

体が吐出される部位の面、 例えば吐出面 5 3 (後述) を擦ることで、 その面 に付着していた液体を取り除く。 キャッビングしての洗浄は、 例えば、 次の ように行なう。 まず、 液体を吐出される部位、 例えば吐出面 5 3を覆うよう にキャップを被せる (これをキャッビングと言う) ことで、 吐出面 5 8とキ ャップとで、 略密閉されて空間が作られる。 そのような状態で、 液体の吐出 を繰り返すことで、 吐出孔 9 (後述) に詰まっていた、 標準状態よりも粘度 が高くなっていた液体や、 異物等を取り除く。 キャッビングしてあることで 、 洗浄中の液体がプリンタ 1 に飛散し難く、 液体が、 印刷用紙 や口ーラ等 の搬送機構に付着し難くなる。 洗浄を終えた吐出面 5 3を、 さらにワイピン グしてもよい。 ワイビング及び/又はキャッビングによる洗浄は、 プリンタ 1 に取り付けられているワイパー及び/又はキャップを人が手動で操作して 行なってもよいし、 制御部 8 8によって自動で行なってもよい。
[0026] 記録媒体は、 印刷用紙 以外に、 口ール状の布などでもよい。 また、 プリ ンタ 1は、 印刷用紙 を直接搬送する代わりに、 搬送べルトを搬送して、 記 録媒体を搬送べルトに置いて搬送してもよい。 そのようにすれば、 枚葉紙、 裁断された布、 木材又はタイルなどを記録媒体にできる。 さらに、 ヘッ ド 2 から導電性の粒子を含む液体を吐出するようにして、 電子機器の配線バター ンなどを印刷してもよい。 またさらに、 ヘッ ド 2から反応容器などに向けて 所定量の液体の化学薬剤又は化学薬剤を含んだ液体を吐出させて、 反応させ るなどして、 化学薬品を作製してもよい。

図 2は、 ヘッ ド 2 (ヘッ ド本体 2 8) の印刷用紙 に対向する面 (吐出面 5 3) を示す平面図である。 図 3は、 図 2の領域 IIIの拡大図である。 これら の図では、 便宜上、 口 1軸、 口 2軸及び 0 3軸からなる直交座標系を付して いる。 口 1軸は、 ヘッ ド 2と印刷用紙 との相対移動の方向に平行に定義さ れている。 口 1軸の正負と、 ヘッ ド 2に対する印刷用紙 の進行方向との関 係は、 本実施形態の説明では特に問わない。 口 2軸は、 吐出面 5 3及び印刷 用紙 に平行で、 かつ口 1軸に直交するように定義されている。 0 2軸の正 負も特に問わない。 口3軸は、 吐出面 5 3及び印刷用紙 に直交するように 定義されている。 口3軸の負側である一 0 3側 (図 2及び図 3の紙面手前側 ) は、 へッ ド 2から印刷用紙 への方向である。
