Definitions

  • Present invention relates to a multiple- spindle spinning machine for spinning coarse and long fibers such as coir, sisal, banana, wool etc., in which the concept of spin box is used to feed fibers, open & clean them, assemble and twist into a yarn in a sub-assembly. Multiple numbers of these modular units are mounted side by side to make long spinning machines with multiple spinning positions.
  • Yam from coarse fibers like coir, banana etc. is spun in a mechanized spinning machine also known as Automatic Spinning machine, in which opened fibers are made to fall into a V-shaped tray on a core thread fed separately, usually, a synthetic thread. These fibers along with the core thread are twisted together by a twisting device and drawn continuously so that the spinning process takes place without interruption. Since fibres has a free fall into the V-Channel tray from the opening roller above the tray; they float and fall freely on the core thread in the tray without any control.
  • the spinning machine usually having 2 or 4 spindles produce one or two numbers of 2-ply yams respectively, this will be wound on bobbins using flyer type winding mechanism.
  • EP 1801271 A describes a core yam spinning machine capable of determining a presence or an absence of a core. Further, the present invention relates to a method for determining the presence or the absence of the core in a core yam.
  • CN2009 88930 Y describes an invention relates to a textile industry, and particularly relates to an automatic machine coir preparation used.
  • US 4669259 A describes a spinning machine having a drafting frame for drafting sliver or roving into roving or yarn respectively, for instance a ring spinning machine, fly frame, or similar machine for manufacturing yarn or roving from sliver or roving, respectively.
  • suction lines (20, 21) include at least local structures controlling airflow. At suction locations (30, 31) of the stretching mechanisms (11) with which the lines are associated, essentially the same pressure conditions are maintained.
  • DE3537195 describes a spinning machine producing yams from two fiber associations, which run to a union point at which they are rotated together to form a single yarn.
  • the slivers may be made of any non-continuous fibers, preferably made of combed wool.
  • the rotation of the yarn can be produced by conventional means, preferably, can rotate by means of a spindle, which penetrates a spinning ring coaxially on which a towed by the yarn runner.
  • US 4559773A describes a method and apparatus for restarting a yarn spinning machine, and which is characterized by the ability to be efficiently rethreaded and started after a yarn break, and with the resulting yam having a high quality interconnection in the form of a splice or the like.
  • the main disadvantage of the present art is that the spinning machines have at the maximum 4 spinning positions (twisters) in a spinning machine.
  • Another disadvantage is that the lay-out of the yarn winding mechanism and bobbins do not enable addition of multiple spinning positions side by side for increasing the machine productivity.
  • Yet another disadvantage is that these spinning positions are fed with fibres from a common opening roller or drum, and hence feed cannot be controlled to individual spinning position.
  • One more disadvantage is that the fibre feed from the opening dmm is divided into 2 or 4 parts required for individual yarns using 2 or 4 v-channels formed in a plate, which produces fibre strand of varying linear density or mnnage. Further disadvantage is the large size of the opening dmm, which necessitates high energy consumption.
  • the object of the invention is to provide a multiple- spindle spinning machine for spinning coarse and long fibres such as coir, sisal, banana, wool etc., in which the concept of spin box is used to feed fibres, open & clean them, assemble and twist into a yarn in a sub- assembly. • the machine will have frame structure with reinforcing beams and columns to hold driving assembly, yarn production section with spin boxes & winding assembly and pneumatic suction arrangement.
  • the driving assembly comprises of motors with Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) control and drive transmission parts, namely, shafts, gears, pulleys and belt/chain etc., connecting to individual spin boxes.
  • VFD Variable Frequency Drive
  • the machine also will have a suction arrangement at the other end of the machine to enable use of pneumatic thread catcher, thread-end holder, yarn compacting mechanism etc.
  • Spin box is a modular unit, which has functional sub-assemblies to feed fibres, open & clean them, assemble and twist into a yarn with or without a yarn take-up arrangement.

  • Figure 2 shows spin box for the Multiple Spindle Coir Spinning machine
  • spin boxl is fixed on beam 2 and 2’and yarn winding assembly 3 is fixed above the spin box 1 along with appropriate yam traversing mechanism and a yarn tensioner.
  • a separate bobbin holder 4 is fixed to the machine frame in a suitable place near the spin box to feed core yam.
  • a thread break stop sensor is fixed between the spin box and winding assembly. This arrangement is repeated for each spinning position in the machine. Total number of spinning positions may vary up to a large number say 200. Feed material is kept in Can 7 in sliver form.
  • the box 5 in the left hand side of the machine frame carries the drive part of the machine comprising motor, pulleys, gears and driving belts/chain.
  • Feed roller drive shaft, opening roller drive shaft and winding dmm drive shaft are driven by separate motors controlled by VFD.
  • Single yam twisters (SYT) are driven by a separate Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) controlled motor through driving belt.
  • VFD Variable Frequency Drive
  • a spin box comprises of a feed roller 8 with suitable loading device 9, a opening rollerlO, V-Channel 13, a single yarn twister 11 and a yam guide roller 12.
  • Feed roller 8, opening roller 10 and winding dmm 3 get their drive from separate driving shafts. Traversing dmm gets its drive from the winding dmm drive shaft.
  • Single yarn twister 11 is driven by a driving belt driven by the single yam twister drive motor
  • the yam spinning process is happened in the following steps
  • STEP1 Fibres are fed to the feed roller in the form of sliver kept in sliver can 7
  • Feed roller 8 feeds the opening roller 10 at the required rate and opening roller 10 rotating at a speed required to open the fibre pushes the fibres forward into the V-Channel l3kept below it
  • STEP3 Core filament thread is fed from a bobbin 4 kept at a suitable place near the V-Channel
  • STEP 4 Core thread is pulled through the V-Channel along with the fibres collected in the V-Channel by the winding drum rotation, which in turn gets twisted by rotation of the single yarn twister 11
  • STEP5 The twisted yarn is wound on the bobbin driven by the winding drum 3 and the traversing mechanism distributes the yam on the surface of the bobbin
  • Thread break sensor senses the presence of yam in the required position and if yam is absent, a signal is sent to stop the fibre feed for the particular spin box
