본 발명의 실시예들은 서로 다른 주파수 영역대의 복수의 방사 패턴들, 상기 방사 패턴들 각각으로부터 분기되는 전송선로들, 및 상기 전송 선로들에 함께 연결되는 구동 회로부를 포함하는 필름 안테나를 제공한다. 또한, 본 발명의 실시예들은 상기 필름 안테나를 포함하며, 광대역 통신 기능이 구현가능한 디스플레이 장치를 제공한다.
상기 필름 안테나는 예를 들면, 투명 필름 형태로 제작되는 마이크로스트립 패치 안테나(microstrip patch antenna)일 수 있다. 상기 필름 안테나는 예를 들면, 3G 내지 5G 이동통신을 위한 통신 기기에 적용될 수 있다. 예를 들면, 상기 필름 안테나는 약 1 GHz 이상, 일 실시예에 있어서 약 20 내지 60 GHz 범위의 고주파수 대역에서 구동 가능할 수 있다. 또한, 상기 필름 안테나는 예를 들면, 1 GHz 이하의 주파수 대역에서도 함께 구동될 수 있다.
또한, 본 발명의 실시예들은 상기 필름 안테나를 포함하는 디스플레이 장치를 제공한다.
이하 도면을 참고하여, 본 발명의 실시예들을 보다 구체적으로 설명하도록 한다. 다만, 본 명세서에 첨부되는 다음의 도면들은 본 발명의 바람직한 실시예를 예시하는 것이며, 전술한 발명의 내용과 함께 본 발명의 기술사상을 더욱 이해시키는 역할을 하는 것이므로, 본 발명은 그러한 도면에 기재된 사항에만 한정되어 해석되어서는 아니된다.
도 1 및 도 2는 각각 예시적인 실시예들에 따른 필름 안테나를 나타내는 개략적인 평면도 및 단면도이다.
도 1 및 도 2를 참조하면, 상기 필름 안테나는 유전층(100), 및 유전층(100) 상에 형성된 전극층(115)을 포함할 수 있다. 전극층(115)은 방사 패턴들(110) 및 전송 선로들(120)을 포함할 수 있다.
유전층(100)은 소정의 유전율을 갖는 절연 물질을 포함할 수 있다. 유전층(100)은 예를 들면, 실리콘 산화물, 실리콘 질화물, 금속 산화물 등과 같은 무기 절연 물질, 또는 에폭시 수지, 아크릴 수지, 이미드 계열 수지 등과 같은 유기 절연 물질을 포함할 수 있다. 유전층(100)은 방사 패턴들(110) 및 전송 선로들(120)이 형성되는 필름 안테나의 필름 기재로서 기능할 수 있다.
일부 실시예들에 있어서, 유전층(100)의 유전율은 약 1 내지 20 범위로 조절될 수 있다. 상기 유전율이 약 20을 초과하는 경우, 구동 주파수가 지나치게 감소하여, 원하는 예를 들면, 25GHz 내지 35GHz 범위의 고주파 대역(예를 들면, 5G 대역)에서의 구동이 구현되지 않을 수 있다.
예시적인 실시예들에 따르면, 방사 패턴(110)은 서로 다른 공진 주파수를 갖는 복수의 방사 패턴들을 포함할 수 있다. 일부 실시예들에 있어서, 방사 패턴(110)은 각각 다른 공진 주파수를 갖는 제1 방사 패턴(112), 제2 방사 패턴(114) 및 제3 방사 패턴(116)을 포함할 수 있다.
도 1에 도시된 바와 같이, 제1 방사 패턴(112), 제2 방사 패턴(114) 및 제3 방사 패턴(116)은 유전층(100)의 일 측으로부터 순차적으로 배열될 수 있다. 일부 실시예들에 있어서, 제1 방사 패턴(112), 제2 방사 패턴(114) 및 제3 방사 패턴(116)은 루프(loop) 형상을 가질 수 있다. 도 1에서는, 각 방사 패턴(110)의 형상이 사각형으로 도시되었으나, 이에 한정되는 것은 아니며, 상기 필름 안테나의 면적, 주파수 등을 고려하여 적절히 변경될 수 있다.
예를 들면, 제1 방사 패턴(112)은 제2 방사 패턴(114) 내부에 포함되며, 제2 방사 패턴(114)은 제3 방사 패턴(116)의 내부에 포함된 형상으로 배열될 수 있다. 이에 따라, 너비 혹은 길이가 증가하면서 복수의 방사 패턴들(110)이 순차적으로 확장되며 배열될 수 있다.
예시적인 실시예들에 따르면, 제1 방사 패턴(112), 제2 방사 패턴(114) 및 제3 방사 패턴(116)으로 갈수록 송수신 가능한 공진 주파수가 감소할 수 있다.
일부 실시예들에 있어서, 제1 방사 패턴(112)은 5G 통신(예를 들면, 약 28 내지 30 GHz), 제2 방사 패턴(114)은 와이-파이(Wi-Fi, 예를 들면 약 2.5 내지 5 GHz) 및 제3 방사 패턴(116)은 4G 통신(예를 들면, 약 1.7 내지 2 GHz)에 해당하는 공진 주파수를 가질 수 있다.
방사 패턴들(110) 각각의 공진 주파수는 상기 필름 안테나가 탑재되는 전자 기기의 용도, 구조에 따라 적절히 변경되거나, 추가될 수 있다. 예를 들면, 근거리 무선 통신(NFC) 용 방사 패턴이 제3 방사 패턴(116)의 외부에 배치될 수도 있다.
방사 패턴들(110)은 전송 선로들(120)을 통해 구동 회로부(DC)에 전기적으로 연결될 수 있다. 예시적인 실시예들에 따르면, 상술한 복수의 방사 패턴들(110)이 전송 선로들(120)을 통해 하나의 구동 회로부(DC)에 의해 집적 또는 일체화될 수 있다. 구동 회로부(DC)는 예를 들면, 집적 회로(IC) 칩을 포함할 수 있다.
제1 방사 패턴(112), 제2 방사 패턴(114) 및 제3 방사 패턴(116)은 각각 제1 전송 선로(122), 제2 전송 선로(124) 및 제3 전송 선로(126)를 통해 구동 회로부(DC)와 연결될 수 있다.
구동 회로부(DC)는 각 방사 패턴(110)을 독립적으로 구동시킬 수 있다. 예를 들면, 제1 방사 패턴(112), 제2 방사 패턴(114) 및 제3 방사 패턴(116)이 구동 회로부(DC)에 의해 각각 독립적으로 온/오프(On/Off) 될 수 있다.
일 구현예에 있어서, 구동 회로부(DC)에 의해 제1 방사 패턴(112), 제2 방사 패턴(114) 또는 제3 방사 패턴(116) 중 어느 하나의 방사 패턴이 선택되어 구동될 수 있다. 일 구현예에 있어서, 구동 회로부(DC)에 의해 제1 방사 패턴(112), 제2 방사 패턴(114) 또는 제3 방사 패턴(116) 중 2 이상의 방사 패턴들이 선택되어 구동될 수 있다.
예시적인 실시예들에 따르면, 방사 패턴들(110)은 유전층(100)의 상면 상에서 모두 동일 평면 또는 동일 레벨 상에 배치될 수 있다. 전송 선로들(120) 역시 방사 패턴들(110)과 함께 동일 평면 상에 배치될 수 있다. 따라서, 복수의 공진 주파수에 대응하는 방사 패턴들을 상술한 루프 형상을 이용하여 단일 필름의 제한된 공간 내에 수용할 수 있다. 그러므로, 상기 필름 안테나를 통해 복수의 공진 주파수들에 대한 선택적 혹은 동시 송수신이 구현될 수 있다.
또한, 유전층(100)의 유전율을 고려하여 수신 가능한 주파수에 따라 각 방사 패턴(110)의 너비 혹은 길이를 조절할 수 있다.
방사 패턴(110) 및/또는 전송 선로(120)는 각각 은(Ag), 금(Au), 구리(Cu), 알루미늄(Al), 백금(Pt), 팔라듐(Pd), 크롬(Cr), 티타늄(Ti), 텅스텐(W), 니오븀(Nb), 탄탈륨(Ta), 바나듐(V), 철(Fe), 망간(Mn), 코발트(Co), 니켈(Ni), 아연(Zn), 또는 이들의 합금을 포함할 수 있다. 이들은 단독으로 혹은 2 이상이 조합되어 사용될 수 있다. 예를 들면, 방사 패턴(110) 및/또는 전송 선로(120)는 저저항 구현을 위해 은(Ag) 또는 은 합금을 포함할 수 있으며, 예를 들면 은-팔라듐-구리(APC) 합금을 포함할 수 있다.
일부 실시예들에 있어서, 방사 패턴(110) 및/또는 전송 선로(120)는 인듐주석 산화물(ITO), 인듐아연 산화물(IZO), 인듐아연주석 산화물(ITZO), 아연 산화물(ZnOx)과 같은 투명 금속 산화물을 포함할 수 있다.
일부 실시예들에 있어서, 방사 패턴(110) 및/또는 전송 선로(120)는 투과율 향상을 위해 메쉬(mesh)-패턴 구조를 포함할 수도 있다.
일부 실시예들에 있어서, 방사 패턴(110)은 고투과율의 금속 박막 구조를 가질 수 있다. 예를 들면, 방사 패턴(110) 은 약 50 내지 200Å 두께의 솔리드 금속 박막 구조를 가질 수 있다. 예를 들면, 방사 패턴(110) 의 투과율은 약 70% 이상, 바람직하게는 약 80% 이상일 수 있다.
일부 실시예들에 있어서, 유전층(100)의 저면 상에 그라운드 층(90)이 형성될 수 있다. 예를 들면, 유전층(100)에 의해 전극층(115) 및 그라운드 층(90) 사이에서 정전용량(capacitance) 또는 인덕턴스(inductance)가 형성되어, 상기 필름 안테나가 구동 혹은 센싱할 수 있는 주파수 대역이 조절될 수 있다. 예를 들면, 상기 필름 안테나는 수직 방사 안테나로 제공될 수 있다.
그라운드 층(90)은 금속, 합금 또는 투명 도전성 산화물을 포함할 수 있다. 일 실시예에 있어서, 상기 필름 안테나가 실장되는 디스플레이 장치의 도전성 부재가 그라운드 층(90)으로 제공될 수도 있다.
도 3은 일부 예시적인 실시예들에 따른 필름 안테나를 나타내는 개략적인 평면도이다.
도 3을 참조하면, 각 방사 패턴(110)은 전송 선로(120)와 함께 루프를 형성할 수 있다. 이 경우, 각 방사 패턴(110)은 도 3에 점선 원으로 표시된 바와 같은 개방 영역을 포함하며, 상기 개방 영역을 통해 전송 선로(120)와 연결될 수 있다.
도 4는 일부 예시적인 실시예들에 따른 필름 안테나를 나타내는 개략적인 평면도이다.
도 4를 참조하면, 각 방사 패턴(110) 내부 또는 방사 패턴들(110) 사이의 공간은 더미 영역으로 정의될 수 있다. 예를 들면, 제1 방사 패턴(112) 내부에는 제1 더미 영역이 정의되며, 제2 방사 패턴(114) 및 제1 방사 패턴(112) 사이에는 제2 더미 영역이 정의되며, 제3 방사 패턴(116) 및 제2 방사 패턴(114) 사이에는 제3 더미 영역이 정의될 수 있다.
예시적인 실시예들에 따르면, 각 더미 영역 내에는 더미 메쉬(mesh) 패턴(130)이 형성될 수 있다. 상기 제1 더미 영역 내에는 제1 더미 메쉬 패턴(132)이 형성되며, 상기 제2 더미 영역 내에는 제2 더미 메쉬 패턴(134)이 형성되며, 상기 제3 더미 영역 내에는 제3 더미 메쉬 패턴(136)이 형성될 수 있다.
일부 실시예들에 있어서, 방사 패턴들(110) 역시 메쉬 패턴 구조를 포함할 수 있다. 따라서, 상기 필름 안테나의 투과율이 향상될 수 있다. 또한, 더미 메쉬 패턴(130)을 형성함에 따라, 패턴 형상 차이에 따른 전극 시인을 감소시킬 수 있다.
각 방사 패턴(110)의 프로파일을 따라 분리 영역(140)이 형성될 수 있다. 분리 영역(140)에 의해 방사 패턴(110) 및 더미 메쉬 패턴(130)이 구분 또는 절연될 수 있다.
일부 실시예들에 있어서, 제3 방사 패턴(116)의 외부 영역에도 더미 메쉬 패턴이 형성될 수 있다. 예를 들면, 메쉬 패턴 층이 실질적으로 유전층(100)의 전면 상에 형성될 수 있다. 이후, 상기 메쉬 패턴 층을 식각하여 분리 영역(140)을 형성함으로써, 방사 패턴(110) 및 더미 메쉬 패턴(130)을 정의할 수 있다.
일부 실시예들에 있어서, 전송 선로들(120) 역시 상기 메쉬 패턴 구조를 포함하며, 방사 패턴(110)과 일체로 형성될 수 있다.
도 5 및 도 6은 상기 필름 안테나의 더미 메쉬 패턴의 구조를 나타내는 부분 확대도들이다.
도 5를 참조하면, 더미 메쉬 패턴(130)은 서로 교차하도록 연장하는 전극 라인들(135)에 의해, 예를 들면 복수의 단위 메쉬 유닛을 포함할 수 있다. 상기 단위 메쉬 유닛은 도 5에 도시된 바와 같이, 마름모 형상을 가질 수 있다.
일부 예시적인 실시예들에 있어서, 상기 단위 메쉬 유닛은 분절부(C1)를 포함할 수 있다. 예를 들면, 상기 단위 메쉬 유닛의 각 변마다 분절부(C1)가 형성될 수 있다.
더미 메쉬 패턴(130)이 분절부들(C1)을 포함함에 따라, 더미 메쉬 패턴(130)은 실질적으로 절연체로 제공될 수 있다. 따라서, 인접하는 방사 패턴(110)에 대한 신호 간섭을 억제하면서 상기 필름 안테나의 광학적 특성을 향상시킬 수 있다.
분절부의 위치는 도 5에 도시된 예로 한정되는 것은 아니며, 적절히 변경될 수 있다.
도 6을 참조하면, 일부 실시예들에 있어서, 분절부(C2)는 더미 메쉬 패턴(130)에 포함된 전극 라인들(135)의 교차 영역(도 5에서 "I"로 표시됨)에 형성될 수도 있다.
예를 들면, 도 6에 도시된 바와 같이, 교차 영역(I)에서 적어도 일부의 전극 라인들(135)이 서로 단절되어 분절부(C2)를 정의할 수 있다.
도 7은 예시적인 실시예들에 따른 디스플레이 장치에 적용되는 필름 안테나를 나타내는 개략적인 평면도이다.
도 7을 참조하면, 상기 필름 안테나는 복수의 구동 회로부들(DC)을 포함할 수 있다. 예를 들면, 구동 회로부(DC)는 상기 필름 안테나의 양 측부에 분포될 수 있다.
상술한 바와 같이, 각 구동 회로부에 의해 서로 다른 주파수들을 갖는 방사 패턴들(110)이 전송 선로(120)를 통해 집적 또는 일체화될 수 있다.
또한, 구동 회로부들(DC)을 필름 안테나의 주변 영역을 따라 고르게 분포시킴으로써, 신호 감도를 향상시키고, 신호 손실 또는 신호 차단을 방지할 수 있다.
상술한 바와 같이, 방사 패턴들(110) 및 전송 선로들(120)을 제외한 유전층(100) 상의 영역은 실질적으로 더미 메쉬 패턴으로 충진될 수 있다.
도 8은 예시적인 실시예들에 따른 디스플레이 장치를 나타내는 개략적인 평면도이다. 예를 들면, 도 8은 디스플레이 장치의 윈도우를 포함하는 외부 형상을 도시하고 있다.
도 8을 참조하면, 디스플레이 장치(200)는 표시 영역(210) 및 주변 영역(220)을 포함할 수 있다. 주변 영역(220)은 예를 들면, 표시 영역(210)의 양 측부 및/또는 양 단부에 배치될 수 있다.
일부 실시예들에 있어서, 상술한 필름 안테나는 디스플레이 장치(200)의 전면에 배치될 수 있으며, 이 경우 필름 안테나의 방사 패턴들(110) 및 더미 메쉬 패턴들(130)은 디스플레이 장치(200)의 표시 영역(210) 상에 배치될 수 있다. 상술한 바와 같이 메쉬 패턴을 이용해 투과율을 향상시키고, 전극 시인을 억제할 수 있다.
필름 안테나의 구동 회로부(DC)는 디스플레이 장치(200)의 주변 영역(220)에 대응되도록 배치될 수 있다. 주변 영역(220)은 예를 들면, 디스플레이 장치의 차광부 또는 베젤부에 해당될 수 있다.
예시적인 실시예들에 따르면, 복수의 구동 회로부들(DC) 및 상이한 공진 주파수의 방사 패턴들(110)을 통해 고주파 대역 및 저주파 대역을 함께 포괄하며, 신호 감도가 향상된 통신 기능을 디스플레이 장치(200)에 구현할 수 있다.

Claims (14)

  1. 서로 다른 주파수 영역대의 복수의 방사 패턴들;
    상기 방사 패턴들 각각으로부터 분기되는 전송 선로들; 및
    상기 전송 선로들에 함께 연결되는 구동 회로부를 포함하는, 필름 안테나.
  2. 청구항 1에 있어서, 상기 방사 패턴들은 상기 구동 회로부로부터 순차적으로 배열되는 제1 방사 패턴, 제2 방사 패턴 및 제3 방사 패턴을 포함하는, 필름 안테나.
  3. 청구항 2에 있어서, 상기 제1 방사 패턴, 상기 제2 방사 패턴 및 상기 제3 방사 패턴으로 갈수록 공진 주파수가 감소하는, 필름 안테나.
  4. 청구항 2에 있어서, 상기 제1 방사 패턴, 상기 제2 방사 패턴 및 상기 제3 방사 패턴은 상기 구동 회로부에 의해 독립적으로 제어되는, 필름 안테나.
  5. 청구항 2에 있어서, 상기 제1 방사 패턴, 상기 제2 방사 패턴 및 상기 제3 방사 패턴은 각각 루프 형태를 가지며,
    상기 제2 방사 패턴 내의 공간에 상기 제1 방사 패턴이 배치되며, 상기 제3 방사 패턴 내의 공간에 상기 제2 방사 패턴이 배치되는, 필름 안테나.
  6. 청구항 5에 있어서, 상기 방사 패턴들 사이 또는 상기 방사 패턴 내의 공간에는 더미 메쉬 패턴이 형성된, 필름 안테나.
  7. 청구항 6에 있어서, 더미 메쉬 패턴은 분절부들을 포함하는, 필름 안테나.
  8. 청구항 1에 있어서, 상기 방사 패턴들은 메쉬 패턴 구조를 포함하는, 필름 안테나.
  9. 청구항 1에 있어서, 상기 구동 회로부는 복수로 형성되며, 상기 각 구동 회로부마다 서로 다른 주파수 영역대의 상기 복수의 방사 패턴들이 집적되는, 필름 안테나.
  10. 청구항 1에 있어서, 상기 방사 패턴들은 동일 평면 상에 배치되는, 필름 안테나.
  11. 청구항 10에 있어서,
    상기 방사 패턴들이 형성된 유전층; 및
    상기 유전층 아래에 배치된 그라운드 층을 더 포함하는, 필름 안테나.
  12. 청구항 1 내지 11 중 어느 한 항의 필름 안테나를 포함하는, 화상 표시 장치.
  13. 청구항 12에 있어서, 상기 필름 안테나는 상기 화상 표시 장치의 전면부에 배치되는, 화상 표시 장치.
  14. 청구항 13에 있어서, 상기 방사 패턴들은 상기 화상 표시 장치의 표시 영역 상에 배치되는, 화상 표시 장치.
