Definitions
- the present invention relates to a novel chromene compound, a novel photochromic curable composition containing the chromene compound, and a novel optical article comprising a cured product of the photochromic curable composition.
- Photochromism is a reversible reaction in which a compound rapidly changes color when it is irradiated with light containing ultraviolet light such as sunlight or light from a mercury lamp, and when it is stopped in light and placed in the dark, it returns to its original color.
- Compounds having such properties are called photochromic compounds, and various compounds have been developed so far.
- chromene compounds are well-studied particularly in recent years because they are known to be durable and to develop color in various color tones.
- a photochromic spectacle lens having a photochromic property to the spectacle lens is colored promptly in the outdoors where sunlight is irradiated, functions as sunglasses, fades indoors, and functions as a normal spectacle lens. , Its demand is increasing.
- the following characteristics are generally calculated
- the degree of coloration (initial coloration) in the visible light region before irradiation with ultraviolet light is small.
- the degree of coloring (coloring density) when irradiated with ultraviolet light is high.
- the speed at which the coloring density reaches saturation after the start of irradiation with ultraviolet light is high (coloring sensitivity is high).
- the speed (fading speed) from the irradiation of the ultraviolet light to the return to the original state is large.
- the repeated durability of this reversible action is good.
- chromene compounds which have been found so far, their photochromic properties themselves are excellent, and for example, those showing fast development and fading rates and high color density in solution are also known. It is known that the color change of the chromene compound is caused by the structural change. Therefore, the chromene compound has good photoresponsiveness in an environment where structural change is likely to occur, such as in a solution. However, in an environment in which structural change does not easily occur, such as in a polymer solid matrix, the photoresponsiveness is poor, and the half-life of fading tends to be long, that is, the photoresponsiveness tends to be reduced. This is considered to be due to the structural change of the chromene compound being restricted because free space is overwhelmingly small in the polymer solid matrix as compared to in solution.
- the chromene compound When the chromene compound is thus dispersed in a polymer matrix such as various plastic materials, it can not sufficiently exhibit the excellent photochromic properties inherently possessed by the chromene compound, and in particular it is said that the fading speed is reduced. There was a problem. This problem tends to be remarkable particularly when the chromene compound is refined into a synthetic resin (polymer) having high hardness or heat resistance.
- photochromic compounds having various structures are being studied.
- photochromic compounds capable of nanocapsulation have been proposed.
- photochromic compounds represented by the following formulas (A) and (B) having a polyalkylene oxide oligomer chain group and a polysiloxane oligomer chain group are disclosed (see Patent Documents 1 and 2).
- the chromene compound represented by the above formulas (A) and (B) is capable of nanocapsulation, but has high photochromic properties required in recent years and repeated durability. It has been found that further improvement is necessary to meet the
- photochromic compounds having at least two or more photochromic sites have also been proposed (see Patent Documents 3 to 5).
- Patent Documents 3 to 5 Even with a compound having a plurality of photochromic sites and a high dye concentration, the conventional compounds require further improvement in order to meet the recently required high photochromic properties. In particular, the dependence on the matrix was low, and it was difficult to further increase the fading speed.
- an object of the present invention is to provide a chromene compound which is less dependent on matrix environment, has a high fading speed, and has a high repeated durability.
- a photochromic compound having introduced an oligomer chain has a form (nanoencapsulation) such that the oligomer chain wraps the photochromic compound in the matrix, so that the fading speed is high in the solid polymer matrix. It is believed to be faster.
- the present inventors thought that if this form is used, a photochromic compound with low matrix dependency may be produced.
- introduction of an oligomer chain group can reduce the matrix dependency, it can not necessarily increase the fading speed of the photochromic compound itself. Therefore, further improvement is required, and when the indenonaphthopyran compound having various substituents is examined, the above problems can be solved by the indenonaphthopyran compound having the following structure (hereinafter sometimes referred to as a chromene compound). It has been found that it can be solved, and the present invention has been completed.
- the first present invention is a chromene compound having an indenonaphthopyran moiety
- the indenonaphthopyran moiety is An oligomer chain selected from the group consisting of a polyalkylene oxide oligomer chain and a polyester oligomer chain having a spiro ring formed at position 13 together with the carbon atom 13 and any oligomer chain having three or more repeating units It is a chromene compound characterized by having a group.
- the second present invention is a photochromic curable composition containing the chromene compound of the present invention and a polymerizable monomer.
- the third present invention is a photochromic optical article having, as a component, a polymer molded article in which the chromene compound of the present invention is dispersed.
- a fourth invention of the present invention is an optical article having, as a constituent member, an optical substrate coated with a polymer film in which all or a part of at least one surface of the optical substrate is dispersed with the chromene compound of the present invention.
- the chromene compound of the present invention is At least one indenonaphthopyran moiety (indenonaphthopyran structure) having a spiro ring (hereinafter may be simply referred to as "spiro ring group 13" in some cases) formed at the 13th position with the 13th carbon atom.
- spiro ring group 13 an oligomer chain group selected from the group consisting of a polyalkylene oxide oligomer chain group having three or more repeating units and a polyester oligomer chain group having three or more repeating units.
- oligomer chain group selected from the group consisting of a polyalkylene oxide oligomer chain group having three or more repeating units and a polyester oligomer chain group having three or more repeating units.
- oligomer chain group The chromene compound exhibits an excellent effect by taking such a structure.
- the structural feature of being a chromene compound having both the spiro ring group at position 13 and the oligomer chain group exerts an excellent effect. Specifically, it is possible to obtain a chromene compound having a small matrix dependency, a high fading speed, and a good durability.
- each spectacle lens has a high color density, even when producing a high hardness spectacle lens and a relatively low degree spectacle lens. It has a fast fading speed.

- the indenonaphthopyran moiety has an oligomer chain group having three or more repeating units.
- the oligomer chain group is a group selected from the group consisting of a polyalkylene oxide oligomer chain group and a polyester oligomer chain group.
- having three or more repeating units indicates that "three or more repeating units which are binding sites of the same composition are present", specifically, for example, polyalkylene oxide having three or more repeating units.

- the average molecular weight of the oligomer chain group is too small (the oligomer chain length is short)
- formation of a nanocapsule enclosing the photochromic compound tends to be difficult or the size of the capsule tends to be small. Therefore, securing of free space around the photochromic compound is insufficient, and the effect of reducing the dependence on the matrix environment tends to decrease.
- the average molecular weight is too large, the ratio of the photochromic compound per unit weight tends to decrease, the color density becomes insufficient, and the addition amount needs to be increased.
- the number of the oligomer chain groups is not particularly limited, and at least one may be present in one chromene compound molecule.
- the number of the oligomer chain groups is preferably 1 to 10, and more preferably 1 to 5 in consideration of the productivity of the chromene compound itself, the photochromic properties, and the like.

- the oligomer chain groups may be the same group or different groups. However, in consideration of the productivity of the chromene compound, the same group is preferable. And, in consideration of the photochromic properties, it is most preferable to use a polyalkylene oligomer chain group.
- the effect of the present invention is that the oligomer chain group is substituted with a spiro ring group at position 3, 6, 7, 11, or 13 of indenonaphthopyran, and the productivity of the chromene compound itself Is preferable because it can improve the
