【배경기술】
최근의 휴대용 소형 전자기기의 전원으로서 각광받고 있는 리튬 이차 전지는 유기 전해액을 사용하여 기존의 알칼리 수용액을 사용한 전지보다 2배 이상의 높은 방전 전압을 보임으로써 높은 에너지 밀도를 나타내는 전지이다.
리륨 이차 전지의 양극 활물질로는 LiCo02, LiMn204, LiNi1-xCoxO2(0<x <1) 등과 같이 리튬의 인터칼레이션이 가능한 구조를 가진 리튬과 전이 금속으로 이루어진 산화물을 주로 사용하고 있다. 또한 음극 활물질로는 리륨의 삽입 및 탈리가 가능한 인조 혹연, 천연 혹연, 하드 카본 등의 다양한 형태의 탄소계 재료가 적용되고 있다.
이러한 리튬 이차 전지는 25 °C 이상의 온도에서 충전상태에 따라 양극 및 음극이 열적으로 불안정해져 전해질 염, 유기 용매, 양극 활물질 및 음극 활물질이 분해되어 전지 안정성 및 안전성에 문제점이 발생한다.
또한 전지가 고객의 요구에 따라 점점 더 고용량화 되면서 높은 수준의 안정성 및 안전성 요구조건을 만족하기 점점 더 힘들어지고 있는 추세이다.

도 1은 일 구현예에 따른 리튬 이차 전지를 보여주는 개략도이다. 도 1을 참고하면, 일 구현예에 따른 리튬 이차 전지 (100)는 전극 조립체 (110), 상기 전극 조립체 (110)를 담고 있는 전지 용기 (120), 그리고 상기 전극 조립체 (110)에서 형성된 전류를 외부로 유도하기 위한 전기적 통로 역할을 하는 전극탭 (130)을 포함할 수 있다. 상기 전지 용기 (120)의 두 면은 서로 마주보는 면을 겹쳐 밀봉하게 된다. 또한 상기 전극 조립체 (110)를 담고 있는 전지 용기 (120) 내부로 전해액이 주입된다.
상기 전극 조립체 (110)는 양극, 상기 양극과 대향하는 음극, 그리고 상기 양극과 상기 음극 사이에 배치되어 있는 세퍼레이터로 구성된다. 일 구현예에 따른 상기 음극은 집전체, 상기 집전체 위에 위치하는 음극 활물질층, 그리고 상기 음극 활물질층 위에 위치하고 무기물, 및 바인더 고분자를 포함하는 코팅층을 포함하고, 상기 바인더 고분자의 분해 온도는 100 °C 내지 400 °C이며, 상기 바인더 고분자의 탄성율은 220 °C 이하에서 1.0 GPa 내지 3.0 GPa일 수 있다.
상기 바인더 고분자의 분해 온도는 구체적으로 300 °C 내지 350 °C일 수 있다.

상기 코팅층을 포함하는 리튬 이차 전지용 음극은 도 4에서 볼 수 있는 바와 같이 350 °C 이상의 고온에서도 절연 특성을 유지할 수 있고, 이에 따라 관통 후 내부 숏트에 의해 전지의 온도 상승 시 분리막의 용융 온도에서도 절연을 유지시킬 수 있으므로 안전성을 크게 개선시킬 수 있다.
탄성율이 상기 범위 내인 바인더 고분자를 사용함으로써, 고온에서도 바인더 고분자의 강도가 유지되어 음극의 절연 특성을 계속 유지할 수 있고, 이에 따라 전지의 안전성이 향상될 수 있다.
상기 바인더 고분자는 엔지니어링 플라스틱, 슈퍼 엔지니어링 플라스틱, 가용성 폴리이미드, 및 이들의 조합에서 선택될 수 있다ᅳ
예컨대 상기 엔지니어링 플라스틱은 폴리아미드, 폴리아세탈, 폴리카보네이트, 개질된 폴리페닐 옥사이드, 폴리부틸렌 테레프탈레이트 등을 들 수 있고, 상기 슈퍼 엔지니어링 플라스틱은 폴리이미드, 폴리설폰, 폴리페닐렌설파이드, 폴리아미드이미드, 폴리아크릴레이트, 폴리에테르 설폰, 폴리에테르 에테르 케톤, 폴리에테르 이미드, 액정 폴리에스테르, 폴리에테르 케톤 등을 들 수 있으나, 이에 한정되는 것은 아니며 바인더 고분자의 분해 온도가 10CTC 내지 400 °C와 범위 내이고, 탄성율이 220 °C 이하에서 1.0 GPa 내지 3.0 GPa 인 경우 제한 없이 사용할 수 있다.
본 발명의 구체적인 일 실시예에서 상기 바인더 고분자는 하기 화학식 1로 표현될 수 있다.

상기 화학식 1에서
Ar은 치환 또는 비치환된 C6 내지 C30 아릴기이고,
n은 4 내지 200의 정수이다.
상기 바인더 고분자를 포함하는 코팅층을 포함함으로써, 전지의 발열을 억제하고 양극과 음극 간의 단락을 방지하여 리륨 이차 전지의 안전성 열적 안정성 및 사이클 수명 특성을 향상시킬 수 있다.
특히, 상기 화학식 1로 표시되는 바인더 고분자는 200 °C 이상의 고온에서 내열성을 가질 뿐만 아니라, 기존 폴리이미드와 달리 중합이 거의 완료된 상태로 용매에 용해되므로 전지 성능을 저하시키지 않으면서도 고온에서 음극 절연을 유지함으로써, 관통 및 열 노출에 대하여 2차 전지의 안정성이 확보될 수 있다.
즉, 기존 폴리이미드의 경우 1차 중합을 통하여 폴리아믹산 (PAA, Poly amic acid)을 합성하고, 상기 폴리아믹산을 고온 (300 °C 이상)으로 가열하여 탈수반웅시킴으로써 폴리이미드로 전환시키는 단계를 거쳐 합성하거나;
모노머 또는 올리고머 상태로 용매에 희석되어 유통되는 단위체를 고온 하에서 중합시키는 과정을 거쳐 합성하게 되는데, 이 때 필수적으로 탈수 과정을 거치게 되므로 물이 생성된다. 어떠한 방법에 의하든 탈수 과정을 거치게 되고, 고온의 공정 조건이 요구된다.
이로 인하여 2차 전지의 일반적인 공정 건조 온도인 150 °C
이하에서는 폴리이미드로의 전환율이 낮고, 수분 발생으로 인해 전지 성능이 저하되므로, 절연층으로서의 한계점이 있었다.
이에, 코팅층 내에서 무기물을 치밀화 시키고 200 °C 이상의
고온에서도 극판 절연이 유지될 수 있도록 내열도가 높은 상기 화학식 1로 표시되는 바인더 고분자를 사용함으로써, 극판의 절연층을 개선시킬 수 있다.
상기 화학식 1로 표시되는 폴리아미드이미드의 합성 방법은 특별히 제한되지는 않으나, 직접 합성 방법인 디이소시아네이트법으로 합성되는 경우, 이미드화가 거의 종료되므로, 미반웅 이미드 잔기가 적어 전지 성능에 미치는 영향이 상대적으로 적다.
상기 코팅층의 두께는 1 m 내지 10 /zm 일 수 있고, 구체적으로는 1 내지 5 /m, 1 / 내지 4 IM, 가장 구체적으로는 1 卿 내지 3 卿 일 수 있다. 상기 코팅층의 두께가 상기 범위 내인 경우, 음극의 표면에 전기적 절연층을 형성하여 양극과 음극 간의 단락을 방지할 수 있다.
상기 코팅층의 공극율은 30% 내지 70% 일 수 있고, 구체적으로는 ,40% 내지 60%일 수 있으며, 가장 구체적으로는 50% 내지 55% 일 수 있다.
상기 코팅층의 공극율이 상기 범위 내인 경우, 리튬 이온의 이동성 향상을 통하여 리튬 이온의 이동 저항을 최소화하여 전지 성능을 확보할 수 있다.
상기 무기물, 및 상기 바인더 고분자는 99 : 1 내지 60 : 40의 중량비로 포함될 수 있고, 구체적으로는 99 : 1 내지 70 : 30, 99 : 1 내지 80 : 20, 가장 구체적으로는 96 : 4 내지 80 : 20의 중량비로 포함될 수 있다.
상기 바인더 고분자는 상기 음극 활물질층 및 상기 코팅층의 총량에 대하여 0.5 중량% 내지 10 중량%로 포함될 수 있고, 구체적으로는 3 내지 7 중량%로 포함될 수 있다.
상기 바인더 고분자가 상기 함량 범위 내로 포함되는 경우 전지의 발열을 억제하여 열적 안정성을 향상시킬 수 있다. 상기 바인더 고분자의 중량평균분자량은 1 ,000 내지 50,000 일 수 있고, 구체적으로는 10,000 내지 20,000 일 수 있다.
상기 바인더 고분자의 중량평균분자량이 상기 범위 내일 경우 리튬 이온의 이동 저항을 최소화하여 전지의 성능을 확보할 수 있다.
상기 무기물은 상기 음극 활물질층 및 상기 코팅층의 총량에 대하여

상기 리튬 이은을 가역적으로 인터칼레이션 /디인터칼레이션할 수 있는 물질로는 탄소 물질로서, 리튬 이차 전지에서 일반적으로 사용되는 탄소계 음극 활물질은 어떠한 것도 사용할 수 있으며, 그 대표적인 예로는 결정질 탄소, 비정질 탄소 또는 이들을 함께 사용할 수 있다ᅳ 상기 결정질 탄소의 예로는 무정형, 판상, 린편상 (flake), 구형 또는 섬유형의 천연 혹연 또는 인조 흑연과 같은 혹연을 들 수 있고, 상기 비정질 탄소의 예로는 소프트 카본 (soft carbon: 저온 소성 탄소) 또는 하드 카본 (hard carbon), 메조페이스 피치 탄화물, 소성된 코크스 등을 들 수 있다.
상기 리튬 금속의 합금으로는 리튬과 Na, K, Rb, Cs, Fr, Be, Mg, Ca, Sr, Si: Sb, Pb, In, Zn, Ba, Ra, Ge, Al 및 Sn으로 이루어진 군에서 선택되는 금속의 합금이 사용될 수 있다.
상기 리튬올 도프 및 탈도프할 수 있는 물질로는 Si, SiOx(0 < X < 2), Si- C 복합체, Si-Q 합금 (상기 Q는 알칼리 금속, 알칼리 토금속 , 13족 내지 16족 원소, 전이금속, 희토류 원소 또는 이들의 조합이며, Si은 아님), Sn, Sn02, Sn-C 복합체, Sn-R (상기 R은 알칼리 금속, 알칼리 토금속, 13족 내지 16족 원소, 전이금속, 희토류 원소 또는 이들의 조합이며, Sn은 아님) 둥을 들 수 있고, 또한 이들 중 적어도 하나와 Si02를 흔합하여 사용할 수도 있다. 상기 Q 및 R의 구체적인 원소로는, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Ra, Sc, Y, Ti, Zr, Hf, Rf, V, Nb, Ta, Db, Cr, Mo, W, Sg, Tc, Re, Bh, Fe, Pb, Ru, Os, Hs, Rh, Ir, Pd, Pt, Cu, Ag, Au, Zn, Cd, B, Al, Ga, Sn, In, Ti, Ge, P, As, Sb, Bi, S, Se, Te, Po 또는 이들의 조합을 들 수 있다.
상기 전이 금속 산화물로는 바나듐 산화물, 리륨 바나듐 산화물 등을 들 수 있다.
상기 바인더는 음극 활물질 입자들을 서로 잘 부착시키고, 또한 음극 활물질을 음극 집전체에 잘 부착시키는 역할을 하며, 그 대표적인 예로 폴리비닐알콜, 카르복시메틸셀를로즈, 히드록시프로필셀를로즈,

상기 도전재는 전극에 도전성을 부여하기 위해 사용되는 것으로서, 구성되는 전지에 있어서, 화학변화를 야기하지 않고 전자 전도성 재료이면 어떠한 것도 사용가능하며, 그 예로 천연 흑연, 인조 흑연, 카본 블랙, 아세틸렌 블랙, 케첸블랙, 탄소섬유 등의 탄소계 물질; 구리, 니켈, 알루미늄, 은 등의 금속 분말 또는 금속 섬유 등의 금속계 물질; 폴리페닐렌 유도체 등의 도전성 폴리머; 또는 이들의 흔합물을 포함하는 도전성 재료를 사용할 수 있다.
상기 전해액은 비수성 유기 용매와 리튬염을 포함한다.
상기 비수성 유기 용매는 전지의 전기화학적 반웅에 관여하는 이온들이 이동할 수 있는 매질 역할을 한다. 상기 비수성 유기 용매로는 카보네이트계, 에스테르계, 에테르계, 케톤계, 알코올계 및 비양성자성
용매에서 선택될 수 있다.
상기 카보네이트계 용매로는 예컨대 디메틸 카보네이트 (dimethyl ' carbonate, DMC), 디에틸 카보네이트 (diethyl carbonate, DEC), 디프로필
카보네이트 (dipropyl carbonate, DPC), 메틸프로필 카보네이트 (methylpropyl carbonate, MPC), 에틸프로필 카보네이트 (ethylpropyl carbonate, EPC), 메틸에틸 카보네이트 (methylethyl carbonate, MEC), 에틸메틸 카보네이트 (ethylmethyl carbonate, EMC), 에틸렌 카보네이트 (ethylene carbonate, EC), 프로필렌
카보네이트 (propylene carbonate, PC), 부틸렌 카보네이트 (butylene carbonate, BC) 등이 사용될 수 있다.
특히, 사슬형 카보네이트 화합물 및 환형 카보네이트 화합물을 흔합하여 사용하는 경우, 유전율을 높이는 동시에 점성이 작은 용매로 제조될 수 있어서 좋다. 이 경우 환형 카보네이트 화합물 및 사슬형 카보네이트 화합물은 약 1 : 1 내지 1 :9의 부피비로 흔합하여 사용할 수 있다.
또한 상기 에스테르계 용매로는 예컨대 메틸아세테이트, 에틸아세테이트, n-프로필아세테이트, 디메틸아세테이트, 메틸프로피오네이트, 에틸프로피오네이트 , γ-부티로락톤, 데카놀라이드 (decanolide), 발레로락톤, 메발로노락톤 (mevalonolactone), 카프로락톤 (caprolactone) 등이 사용될 수 있다. 상기 에테르 용매로는 예컨대 디부틸에테르, 테트라글라임, 디글라임, 디메록시에탄 , 2-메틸테트라히드로퓨란, 테트라히드로퓨란 등이 사용될 수 있으며, 상기 케톤계 용매로는 시클로핵사논 등이 사용될 수 있다. 또한 상기 알코올계 용매로는 에틸알코올, 이소프로필 알코올 등이 사용될 수 있다.
상기 비수성 유기 용매는 단독 또는 하나 이상 흔합하여 사용할 수 있으며, 하나 이상 흔합하여 사용하는 경우의 흔합 비율은 목적하는 전지 성능에 따라 적절하게 조절할 수 있다.
상기 비수성 전해액은 에틸렌카보네이트, 피로카보네이트 등의 과층전 방지제와 같은 첨가제를 더 포함할 수도 있다.
상기 리튬염은 유기 용매에 용해되어, 전지 내에서 리튬 이온의 공급원으로 작용하여 기본적인 리튬 이차 전지의 작동을 가능하게 하고, 양극과 음극 사이의 리튬 이온의 이동을 촉진하는 역할을 하는 물질이다. 상기 리륨염의 구체적인 예로는 LiPF6, LiBF4, LiSbF6, LiAsF6,
LiN(S03C2F5)2, LiN(CF3S02)2, LiC4F9S03, LiC104, LiA102, LiAlCl4,
LiN(CxF2x+1S02)(CyF2y+1S02)(여기서 , x 및 y는 자연수임), LiCl, Lil,
LiB(C204)2(리튬 비스옥살레이토 보레이트 (lithium bis(oxalato) borate; LiBOB), 또는 이들의 조합을 들 수 있다.
상기 리튬염의 농도는 약 0.1M 내지 약 2.0M 범위 내에서 사용하는 것이 좋다. 리튬염의 농도가 상기 범위에 포함되면, 전해액이 적절한 전도도 및 점도를 가지므로 우수한 전해액 성능을 나타낼 수 있고, 리튬 이온이 효과적으로 이동할 수 있다ᅳ
상기 세퍼레이터는 음극과 양극을 분리하고 리튬 이온의 이동 통로를 제공하는 것으로 리튬 전지에서 통상적으로 사용되는 것이라면 모두 사용가능하다. 즉, 전해질의 이온 이동에 대하여 저저항이면서 전해액 함습 능력이 우수한 것이 사용될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 유리 섬유, 폴리에스테르, 테프론, 폴리에틸렌, 폴리프로필렌, 폴리테트라플루오로에틸렌 (PTFE) 또는 이들의 조합물 중에서 선택된 것으로서, 부직포 또는 직포 형태이어도 무방하다. 예를 들어, 리튬이온전지에는 폴리에틸렌, 폴리프로필렌 등과 같은 폴리올레핀계 고분자 세퍼레이터가 주로 사용되고, 내열성 또는 기계적 강도 확보를 위해 세라믹 성분 또는 고분자 물질이 포함된 코팅된 세퍼레이터가 사용될 수도 있으며, 선택적으로 단층 또는 다층 구조로 사용될 수 있다.
이하에서는 본 발명의 구체적인 실시예들을 제시한다. 다만, 하기에 기재된 실시예들은 본 발명을 구체적으로 예시하거나 설명하기 위한 것에 불과하며, 이로써 본 발명아 제한되어서는 아니된다.
또한, 여기에 기재되지 않은 내용은 이 기술 분야에서 숙련된 자이면 충분히 기술적으로 유추할 수 있는 것이므로 그 설명을 생략한다.
실시예 1 (음극의 제조)
분해온도가 370 °C이고, 중량 평균 분자량이 15,000인 폴리아미드 이미드 (국도화학) 4 중량0 /0, 그리고 크기가 0.48 an인 A1203 (Sumitomo Chemical Co., AES-l l) 96 중량0 /0를 N-메틸피를리돈 용매에 흔합하여 코팅 조성물을 제조하였다. 혹연 97.5 중량%, 스티렌-부타디엔 고무 (SBR) 1.5 중량0 /0 및 카르복시 메틸셀를로오스 (CMC) 1 중량 %를 물 용매에 첨가하여 슬러리를 제조하였다.
상기 슬러리를 구리 호일에 도포 및 건조하고 를 프레스를 실시 하여 음극 활물질 층을 제조하였다. 이어서, 상기 음극 활물질 층에 상기 코팅 조성물을 도포하여 절연층을 형성 하였고, 이때 코팅 절연층의 두께는 3 이 되도록 형성 하였다.
(양극의 제조)
LiNi0.33Co0.33Mn0.33O2 80 중량0 /0 및 LiNi0.8Co0.15Al0.05O2 20 중량0 /0의 흔합물 94 중량0 /0, 카본블랙 3 중량 % 및 폴리비닐리덴플루오라이드 3 중량0 /。를 N-메틸피를리돈 (NMP) 용매에 첨가하여 슬러리를 제조하였다. 상기 슬러리를 알루미늄 (A1) 박막에 도포 및 건조하고 롤 프레스 (roll press)를 실시하여 양극을 제조하였다.
(전해액의 제조)
에틸렌 카보네이트, 에틸메틸 카보네이트 및 디메틸 카보네이트를 2:4:4의 부피비로 흔합한 흔합 용매에 1.15 M의 LiPF6를 첨가하여, 전해액을 제조하였다.
(리튬 이차 전지 제작)
상기 양극, 상기 음극 및 상기 전해액과 폴리에틸렌 재질의
세퍼레이터를 사용하여 리튬 이차 전지를 제작하였다.
실시예 2 실시예 1에서 절연층 두께를 1 이 되도록 제조한 것을 제외하고는 실시예 1과 동일한 방법으로 리튬 이차전지를 제작하였다.
비교예 1
실시예 1에서 코팅층을 형성하지 않은 것을 제외하고는, 실시예 1과 동일한 방법으로 리튬 이차 전지를 제작하였다.
비교예 2
실시예 1에서 음극을 다음과 같이 제조한 것을 제외하고는 실시예 1과 동일한 방법으로 리튬 이차 전지를 제작하였다.
아크릴계 고무 (Zeon Corporation, BM-520B) 4 중량0 /。, 그리고 크기가 0.48 m인 A1203 (Sumitomo Chemical Co., AES-11) 96 중량0 /。를 N-메틸피롤리돈 용매에 흔합하여 코팅 조성물을 제조하였다. 상기 음극 활물질층에 이렇게 제조된 코팅 조성물을 도포하여 음극 절연층을 형성함으로써, 음극을 제조하였다. 이때 절연층의 두께는 3 이 되도록 형성하였다.
비교예 3
실시예 1에서 음극을 다음과 같이 제조한 것을 제외하고는 실시예
1과 동일한 방법으로 리튬 이차 전지를 제작하였다.
폴리이미드 (UNITIKA, BP Grade) 4 중량0 /0, 그리고 크기가 으 48 m인
A1203 (Sumitomo Chemical Co., AES-11) 96 중량%를 N-메틸피를리돈 용매에 흔합하여 코팅 조성물을 제조하였다. 상기 음극 활물질층에 이렇게 제조된 코팅 조성물을 도포하여 음극 절연충을 형성함으로써, 음극을 제조하였다. 이때 절연층의 두께는 3 이 되도록 형성 하였다. 평가 1: 전해액에 대한 팽윤도 비교 평가
실시예 1 및 비교예 3에 따른 바인더에 대하여 전해액 함침 정도를 비교하기 위하여 전해액에 대한 팽윤도를 측정하여 , 그 결과를 하기 표 1에 1 나타내었다.
팽윤도 측정은 일정한 두께 및 Size로 상기 바인더를 코팅 후 초기 무게를 측정하고, 전해액에 70°C , 2hr 침지하여 초기 무게 대비 전해액을 침지한 무게를 측정하여 무게의 비율로 측정하였다.

상기 표 1을 참고하면, 실시예 1의 경우 이미드화가 완료되어 장기 수명 등의 문제가 없을 뿐만 아니라, 기본적으로 먁 20%의 팽윤도를 갖기 때문에 절연특성은 유지하면서도 전해액을 흡수하여 저항이 감소함에 따라 이온 전도도를 향상시켜 셀 저항 개선에 도움이 될 수 있음을 알 수 있다. 평가 2: 리튬 이차 전지의 관통 안전성
실시예 1 및 2, 그리고 비교예 1 내지 3의 리튬 이차 전지에 대하여 관통 안전성을 평가하여 , 그 결과를 하기 표 2에 나타내었다.
상기 리튬 이차 전지를 층전전류 0.2C로 4.25V까지 층전하였으며 종료 조건은 0.05C 컷-오프로 실시한 후, 관통핀 직경 3.0mm 및 속도 150 mm/sec로 관통 평가를 실시하였다.

바인더의 함량이 높은, 즉 코팅층의 두께가 더 두꺼운 실시예 1의 경우 관통 안전성이 더욱 우수하게 나타남을 알 수 있다.
폴리이미드 바인더를 사용하여 코팅 절연층을 형성한 비교예 3에 따른 셀의 경우 내열성이 우수한 바인더를 사용함에 따라 관통 안전성아 개선되는 것을 볼 수 있으나, 앞서 설명한 것처럼 폴리이미드 바인더의 경우에는 일반적인 2차 전지 건조 온도인 150 °C에서 완전히 이미드화가 종료되지 않기 때문에 전지 구동 중 지속적인 수분 발생에 의한 셀 성능 저하가 발생될 수 있다. 평가 3: 리튬 이차 전지의 성능 평가
도 3은 실시예 1과 비교예 2 및 3에 따른 리튬 이차 전지에 대하여 상온 사이클 수명 특성을 비교한 그래프이다. 상기 리튬 이차 전지를 층전 조건 충전전류 1.0C로 4.25V까지 충전하였으며 종료 조건은 0.05C 컷-오프로 진행 하였고, 방전 조건 방전 전류 1.0C로 2.8V 컷 -오프 조건으로 상온에서 수명 특성을 평가 하였다.
도 3을 참고하면, 폴리아미드이미드와 아크릴레이트를 바인더로 포함하는 코팅층으로 절연층을 형성한 샐 (실시예 1과 비교예 2)은 비교적 0 안정적인 수명 특성이 확보 되나, 폴리이미드를 바인더로 포함하는
코팅층으로 절연층을 형성한 비교예 3은 100 싸이클에서 수명 유지율이 40% 수준으로 저하되어 실시예 1과 비교 시 65% 수준의 수명 유지 특성을 나타내므로 실제 전지에서 사용하기는 어려울 것으로 판단된다. 평가 4: 리튬 이차 전지의 열에 의한 저항 평가
실시예 1 및 비교예 2의 리튬 이차 전지에 대하여 온도에 따른 저항 변화를 평가하여 , 그 결과를 도 4에 나타내었다.
도 4는 실시예 1 및 비교예 2에 따른 리륨 이차 전지에 대하여 온도 및 저항의 관계를 보여주는 그래프이다.
도 4를 참고하면, 일 구현예에 따라 폴리아미드이미드를 바인더로 포함하는 코팅층으로 절연층을 형성한 실시예 1의 경우, 아크릴레이트를 바인더로 포함하는 코팅층으로 절연층을 형성한 비교예 2와 비교하여, 150 °C 이상, 그리고 35CTC 이상의 고온에서도 절연 특성을 유지할 수 있고, 이에 따라 관통 후 내부 숏트에 의해 전지의 온도 상승 시 분리막의 용융 온도에서도 절연을 유지시킬 수 있으므로 안전성을 크게 개선시킬 수 있다. 이상에서 본 발명의 바람직한 실시예들에 대하여 상세하게
설명하였지만 본 발명의 권리 범위는 이에 한정되는 것은 아니고 다음의 청구 범위에서 정의하고 있는 본 발명의 기본 개념을 이용한 당업자의 여러 변형 및 개량 형태 또한 본 발명의 권리 범위에 속하는 것이다.

【청구항 1】
집전체;
상기 집전체 위에 위치하는 음극 활물질층; 그리고
상기 음극 활물질층 위에 위치하고 무기물, 및 바인더 고분자를 포함하는 코팅층을 포함하고,
상기 바인더 고분자의 분해 온도는 100 °C 내지 400 °C이며, 상기 바인더 고분자의 탄성율은 220 °C 이하에서 1.0 GPa 내지 3.0 GPa인 리튬 이차 전지용 음극.
【청구항 2】
제 1항에 있어서,
상기 바인더 고분자의 분해 온도는 300 °C 내지 350 °C인 리튬 이차 전지용 음극.
【청구항 3】
거 11항에 있어서,
상기 바인더 고분자의 탄성율은 220 °C 이하에서 2.0 GPa 내지 2.5 GPa인 리튬 이차 전지용 음극.

제 1항에 있어서,
상기 바인더 고분자는 엔지니어링 플라스틱, 슈퍼 엔지니어링 플라스틱, 가용성 폴리이미드, 및 이들의 조합에서 선택되는 리튬 이차 전지용 으그

상기 바인더 고분자는 하기 화학식 1로 표현되는 리튬 이차 전지용

n은 4 내지 200의 정수이다.

제 1항에 있어서,
상기 코팅층의 두께는 1 πι 내지 10 μιη인 리튬 이차 전지용 음극.

제 1항에 있어서,
상기 코팅층의 공극율은 30% 내지 70%인 리튬 이차 전지용 음극.

제 1항에 있어서,
상기 무기물, 및 상기 바인더 고분자는 99 : 1 내지 60 : 40의 중량비 포함되는 리튬 이차 전지용 음극.

제 1항에 있어서,
상기 바인더 고분자는 상기 음극 활물질층 및 상기 코팅층의 총량에 대하여 0.5 중량0 /0 내지 10 중량0 /0로 포함되는리튬 이차 전지용 음극.

거 11항에 있어서,
상기 무기물은 상기 음극 활물질층 및 상기 코팅층의 총량에 대하여 1 중량0 /。 내지 20 중량%로 포함되는 리튬 이차 전지용 음극.

거 11항에 있어서,
상기 ^기물의 패킹 밀도는 l.Og/cm3 내지 4.0g/cm3 인 리튬 이차 전지용 음극.
