La complémentarité s'effectue par le biais d'un emboîtement de la planche dans l'arbre. On peut également concevoir que l'arbre rotatif et la planche forment une unique pièce. Les arbres rotatifs comportent une tige en leurs extrémités sur laquelle peut être placé un quelconque moteur afin d'effectuer la rotation. Les arbres rotatifs sont munis d'une tige à leurs extrémités afin qu'on puisse y placer un servomoteur et permettre la rotation angulaire.
