- a communication network 1 shown in FIG. 2 is a network in which nodes 2 are connected via a transmission line 3 composed of twisted pair wires for control communication between a plurality of nodes 2 mounted on the vehicle.
- Each node 2 is an electronic control device that controls the actuator based on sensors and information from the sensors for detecting the state of the vehicle.
- Each node 2 is provided with a communication circuit (not shown), which converts transmission data and reception data into a communication signal according to a communication protocol on the transmission line 3, such as a CAN protocol, and communicates with other nodes 2.
- a branch connector 4 for branching the transmission line 3 is appropriately provided in the middle of the transmission line 3, that is, the communication bus.
- the node 2 described as “T” in the rectangle indicates a node having a termination resistor outside the rectangle, and in the following description, such a node has such a termination resistor.
- the node is also called a node 2T.
- the node 2 represented by a simple rectangular symbol indicates a node that does not have a termination resistor.
- the resistance value of the termination resistor is, for example, 120 ⁇ .
- the ringing suppression circuit 5 shown in FIG. 1 is provided in the node 2 shown in FIG.
- the ringing suppression circuit 5 includes a suppression unit 7 and an operation state setting unit 8.
- the suppression unit 7 performs a suppression operation to suppress ringing that occurs with the transmission of the differential signal by reducing the impedance of the transmission line 3 including the high potential side signal line 3P and the low potential side signal line 3N.
- the high-potential side signal line 3P and the low-potential side signal line 3N correspond to a pair of communication lines. Hereinafter, they may be simply abbreviated as the signal line 3P and the signal line 3N.
- the operation state setting unit 8 sets the operation state of the suppression unit 7 based on the signal level of the selection signal SEL given from the outside.
- the selection signal SEL is a signal for selecting an operation state of the suppression unit 7. Specifically, the selection signal SEL indicates that the normal operation state is selected when it is at the L level, and that the always-off state is selected when it is at the H level.
- the H level of the selection signal SEL corresponds to the power supply voltage Vcc of the circuit, and the L level corresponds to the ground (GND) that is the reference potential of the circuit.
- a configuration as shown in FIG. 3 can be adopted.
- the ringing suppression circuit 5 is connected in parallel with the communication circuit 6 between the signal lines 3P and 3N.
- the ringing suppression circuit 5 includes transistors T1 to T4 that are four N-channel MOSFETs each having a source connected to the signal line 3N, and a transistor T5 that is a P-channel MOSFET.
- the gates of the transistors T1 and T3 are connected to the signal line 3P.
- the drain of the transistor T4 is connected to the signal line 3P, and the drains of the transistors T2 and T3 are connected to the gate of the transistor T4 and to the drain of the transistor T5 via the resistor element R1.
- the source of the transistor T5 is connected to the power supply line 11.
- a power supply voltage Vcc for operation of the ringing suppression circuit 5 is supplied to the power supply line 11.
- the gate of the transistor T5 is connected to the input terminal 12 for inputting the selection signal SEL from the outside. Therefore, the transistor T5 is turned on / off according to the selection signal SEL applied to the gate.
- the drain of the transistor T1 is connected to the power supply line 11 through the resistance element R2, and is connected to the gate of the transistor T2 through the resistance element R3.
- the gate of the transistor T2 is connected to the signal line 3N through the capacitor C1.
- the resistor element R3 and the capacitor C1 constitute an RC filter circuit 13.
- the gate of the transistor T4 is connected to the signal line 3N via the resistance element R4.
- the suppression unit 7 is configured by the transistors T1 to T4, the resistance elements R1 to R3, and the capacitor C1. Further, the operation state setting unit 8 is configured by the transistor T5 and the resistance element R4. The resistance value of the resistance element R4 is set to a value higher than the resistance value of the resistance element R1.
- the transmission line 3 transmits a high level and low level binary signal as a differential signal.
- the signal lines 3P and 3N are both set to the intermediate potential of 2.5V in the non-driving state, the differential voltage is 0V, and the differential signal has a low level indicating recessive. Become.
- the signal line 3P When a transmission circuit (not shown) of the communication circuit 6 drives the transmission line 3, the signal line 3P is driven to, for example, 3.5V or more, the signal line 3N is driven to, for example, 1.5V or less, and the differential voltage is 2V or more. Thus, the differential signal becomes a high level representing a dominant.
- both ends of the signal lines 3P and 3N are terminated by 120 ⁇ termination resistors. Therefore, when the signal level of the differential signal changes from the high level to the low level, the transmission line 3 is not driven and the impedance of the transmission line 3 is increased, so that ringing occurs in the differential signal waveform.
- the ringing suppression circuit 5 starts the suppression operation by the suppression unit 7 by turning on the transistor T4, triggered by the change in the signal level of the differential signal from the high level to the low level indicating recessive.
- This operation is realized as follows. That is, when the level of the differential signal is high, since the transistors T1 and T3 are on, the transistor T2 is off. Therefore, the transistor T4 is in an off state.
- the conventional ringing suppression circuit always turns on the switching element provided between the signal lines 3P and 3N when it detects that the signal level of the differential signal has changed. Therefore, when such a ringing suppression circuit is provided in the node 2T having a termination resistor, there is a possibility that impedance mismatch may occur when the suppression operation is executed.
- FIG. 5 shows a simulation result of the circuit operation, and shows a differential voltage waveform of a communication bus of a node having a termination resistor in a star-type transfer path communication network.
- the ringing suppression circuit 5 of the present embodiment can be set as an operation state of the suppression unit 7 in a normal operation state in which the same suppression operation as that in the related art is performed. For this reason, when the ringing suppression circuit 5 is provided in the node 2 that does not include a termination resistor, the ringing that occurs due to communication is appropriately suppressed by the suppression operation of the suppression unit 7 if the suppression unit 7 is set to the normal operation state. can do.
- the ringing suppression circuit 5 of the present embodiment it is possible to provide both the node 2T having a termination resistor and the node 2 having no termination resistor with a common circuit configuration. That is, according to the ringing suppression circuit 5 of the present embodiment, an excellent effect that it can be used regardless of the type of communication node is obtained.
- the input terminal 12 for inputting the selection signal SEL, the transistor T5 for switching whether to pull up the gate of the transistor T4 based on the selection signal SEL, and the transistor T4 can be realized only by adding the resistance element R4 for pulling down the gate. Therefore, according to the present embodiment, the above-described effects can be obtained only by adding a simple configuration to the conventional ringing suppression circuit.
- the ringing suppression circuit 21 of this embodiment includes a suppression unit 22 and an operation state setting unit 23.
- the suppression unit 22 performs the same suppression operation as the suppression unit 7 of the first embodiment. However, the suppression unit 22 can set the operation state to any one of the three operation states of the normal operation state, the always-off state, and the always-on state.
- the always-on state is an operation mode in which the suppression operation is always performed.
- the operation state setting unit 23 sets one of the three operation states as the operation state of the suppression unit 22 based on the signal levels of the selection signals SEL1 and SEL2 given from the outside.
- the selection signals SEL1 and SEL2 are signals for selecting the operation state of the suppression unit 22. Note that the H level and L level of the selection signals SEL1 and SEL2 correspond to the power supply voltage Vcc and the ground (GND), respectively.
- both the selection signals SEL1 and SEL2 are at the L level, this means that the on state is always selected, and the selection signal SEL1 is at the H level and the selection signal SEL2 is at the L level. Indicates that the normal operation state is selected. Further, when the selection signal SEL2 is at a high level, it indicates that the OFF state is always selected regardless of the level of the selection signal SEL1.
- a configuration as shown in FIG. 8 can be adopted.
- the ringing suppression circuit 21 is different from the ringing suppression circuit 5 of the first embodiment shown in FIG. 3 in terms of an OR circuit 24, an inverter circuit 25, and transistors T21, T22, N, which are P-channel MOSFETs.
- a transistor T23, which is a channel MOSFET, and resistance elements R21 to R24 are added.
- Each input terminal of the OR circuit 24 is connected to input terminals 26 and 27 for inputting selection signals SEL1 and SEL2, respectively.
- the output signal of the OR circuit 24 is input to the inverter circuit 25 and is given to the gate of the transistor T21.
- the output signal of the inverter circuit 25 is given to the gate of the transistor T22.
- the selection signal SEL2 is given to the gate of the transistor T5.
- the sources of the transistors T21 and T22 are connected to the power supply line 11.
- the drain of the transistor T21 is connected to the signal line 3N via the resistance elements R21 and R22.
- the drain of the transistor T22 is connected to the drain of the transistor T1 through the resistance element R2. In this case, the drain of the transistor T1 is connected to the signal line 3N via the resistance element R23.
- the interconnection point N21 of the resistance elements R21 and R22 is connected to the gate of the transistor T23.
- the drain of the transistor T23 is connected to the gate of the transistor T3, and is connected to the signal line 3P through the resistance element R24.
- the source of the transistor T23 is connected to the signal line 3N.
- the suppression unit 22 is configured by the transistors T1 to T4, the resistance elements R1 to R3, and the capacitor C1.
- the operation state setting unit 23 is configured by the OR circuit 24, the inverter circuit 25, the transistors T5, T21 to T23, and the resistance elements R4, R21 to R24.
- the resistance values of the resistance elements R21 and R22 are set to values at which the voltage at the interconnection point N21 becomes a voltage value that can turn on the transistor T23 when the transistor T21 is turned on.
- the ringing suppression circuit 21 has the same circuit configuration as the conventional ringing suppression circuit shown in FIG. 1 of Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2012-257205. Therefore, according to the ringing suppression circuit 21 shown in FIG. 9A in which the suppression unit 22 is set in the normal operation state, the same ringing suppression operation as that of the conventional ringing suppression circuit can be executed.
- the ringing suppression circuit 21 of the present embodiment can be set to the normal operation state and the normally off state as the operation state of the suppression unit 22, similarly to the ringing suppression circuit 5 of the first embodiment. It has become. Therefore, the present embodiment can provide the same effects as those of the first embodiment.
- the ringing suppression circuit 21 can be set as an always-on state in which the suppression operation is always performed as the operation state of the suppression unit 22. In this always-on state, the on-resistance of the transistor T4 is always connected between the signal lines 3P and 3N. Therefore, when the ringing suppression circuit 21 is provided at the node 2 having no termination resistance, the ringing suppression circuit 21 can function as a termination resistance if the ringing suppression circuit 21 is always set to the on state. In this way, an effect of cost reduction can be obtained as much as it is not necessary to provide an external termination resistor.
- the ringing suppression circuit 31 of the present embodiment further includes an impedance detection unit 32 in addition to the components included in the ringing suppression circuit 5 of the first embodiment.
- the impedance detector 32 detects a line impedance Z that is an impedance between the signal lines 3P and 3N.
- a method for detecting the line impedance Z various known methods can be employed. For example, a method is adopted in which a predetermined current is applied between the signal lines 3P and 3N, a potential difference between the signal lines 3P and 3N generated at that time is detected, and a line impedance is calculated from the value of the flowing current and the detected potential difference. can do.
- the impedance detection unit 32 starts detecting the line impedance Z, triggered by the start signal START given from the outside.
- the impedance detection unit 32 determines the logic of the selection signal SEL to be output based on the detection value of the line impedance Z.
- the operation state setting unit 8 sets the operation state of the suppression unit 7 based on the signal level of the selection signal SEL given from the impedance detection unit 32.
- the start signal START is sent to the ringing suppression circuit 31 when the node 2 (electronic control unit) provided with the ringing suppression circuit 31 is disconnected from the communication network 1 or when the node 2 is activated. This is given when power supply is started (when power is turned on).
- step S31 the suppression unit 7 is always set to an off state.
- the suppression unit 7 may be set to a normal operation state in step S31.
- step S32 the impedance detection unit 32 detects the line impedance Z.
- the detected value of the line impedance Z is also referred to as a detected value Z.
- step S33 it is determined whether or not the detection value Z is equal to or less than the first threshold value Zth1.
- the first threshold value Zth1 is a threshold value for judging whether or not the node 2 provided with the ringing suppression circuit 31 has an external termination resistor. Therefore, the first threshold value Zth1 may be set to a resistance value (120 ⁇ ) of the termination resistor or a value obtained by adding a slight margin to the resistance value of the termination resistor. Accordingly, if the detected value Z is equal to or less than the first threshold value Zth1, it is determined that the node 2 has an external termination resistance. If the detection value Z is higher than the first threshold value Zth1, the external termination resistance is applied to the node 2. It can be determined that there is no.
- step S34 the suppression unit 7 is always set to an off state.
- step S35 the suppression unit 7 is set to the normal operation state.
- the ringing suppression circuit 31 determines whether or not the own node 2 has an external termination resistor based on the detected value of the line impedance Z. If it judges, the suppression part 7 will be always set to an OFF state, and if it judges that there is no termination resistance, the suppression part 7 will be set to a normal operation state. Therefore, according to this embodiment, there is no need for the user to check whether or not the node 2 has a termination resistance and to switch the operation state of the suppression unit 7, and the suppression is performed according to the type of the node 2. Since the operation state of the unit 7 is automatically switched to an appropriate operation state, there is an effect that there is no mistake in setting the operation state and the work can be simplified.
- the line impedance Z is detected after the suppression unit 7 is always set to the off state. In this way, since the transistor T4 of the suppression unit 7 is not turned on when detecting the line impedance Z, it is possible to accurately determine the presence or absence of the termination resistor based on the detected value of the line impedance. It becomes.
- the fourth embodiment will be described with reference to FIGS. 12 and 13.
- the ringing suppression circuit 41 of this embodiment further includes an impedance detection unit 42 in addition to the components included in the ringing suppression circuit 21 of the second embodiment.
- the impedance detection unit 42 has the same configuration as the impedance detection unit 32 of the third embodiment, detects the line impedance Z, and determines the logic of the selection signals SEL1 and SEL2 to be output based on the detected value. Then, the operation state setting unit 23 sets the operation state of the suppression unit 22 based on the signal levels of the selection signals SEL1 and SEL2 given from the impedance detection unit 42.
- the start signal START is sent to the ringing suppression circuit 31 when the node 2 (electronic control unit) provided with the ringing suppression circuit 41 is connected to the communication network 1 or when the node 2 is activated. This is given when power supply is started (when power is turned on).
- step S41 the suppression unit 22 is always set to an off state.
- the suppression unit 22 may be set to a normal operation state in step S41.
- the following processing is performed during a period in which communication is not performed between the other nodes 2.
- the impedance detection unit 42 detects the line impedance Z.
- the second threshold value Zth2 is a threshold value for determining whether two termination resistors exist on the communication bus. Therefore, the second threshold value Zth2 may be set to a resistance value (60 ⁇ ) that is 1 ⁇ 2 of the resistance value of the termination resistor or a value obtained by adding a slight margin to the resistance value. Accordingly, if the detected value Z is equal to or smaller than the second threshold value Zth2, it is determined that two termination resistors exist on the communication bus. If the detected value Z is higher than the second threshold value Zth2, the termination resistor is 1 on the communication bus. It can be determined that there is only one or none.
- step S44 the suppression unit 22 is set to the normal operation state.
- step S45 the suppression unit 22 is always set to an on state.
- the ringing suppression circuit 41 of this embodiment determines whether there are two termination resistors on the communication bus based on the detected value of the line impedance Z, and has two termination resistors. If it is determined that the suppression unit 22 is in a normal operation state, and if it is determined that there is only one or no termination resistor, the suppression unit 22 is always set to an on state. Therefore, according to the present embodiment, it is not necessary for the user to check whether there are two termination resistors on the communication bus and to switch the operation state of the suppression unit 22. Since the operation state of the suppression unit 22 is automatically switched to an appropriate operation state depending on whether there are two termination resistors, there are no errors in setting the operation state, and the work can be simplified.
- the configuration of the communication network 1 including the arrangement of termination resistors changes depending on whether or not an additional node 2 or a retrofit node 2 (for example, an electronic control device related to a navigation device) is attached.
- an additional node 2 or a retrofit node 2 for example, an electronic control device related to a navigation device
- switching is automatically performed so that the suppression unit 22 is in an optimal operating state according to the change. .
- the impedance of the transmission line 3 can be reduced to perform an operation of suppressing ringing that occurs due to transmission of the differential signal.
- a configuration as described in JP 2012-244220 A that is, a configuration in which a plurality of switching elements are connected in series between the signal lines 3 ⁇ / b> P and 3 ⁇ / b> N may be employed as the suppression units 7 and 22.
- the configuration of the operation state setting units 8 and 23 may be changed in accordance with the change of the suppression units 7 and 22.
- the communication protocol is not limited to CAN, and any communication protocol that transmits differential signals via a pair of communication lines is applicable.
- the present disclosure has been described with reference to the embodiments, it is understood that the present disclosure is not limited to the embodiments and structures. Description
