Abstract
Description
この固体酸化物形燃料電池では、例えば平板状の固体電解質の一方の側に燃料ガスに接する平板状の燃料極を設けるとともに、他方の側に酸化剤ガス(例えば空気)と接する平板状の酸化剤極(空気極)を設けた平板型の燃料電池単セルが使用されている。
この種の燃料電池スタックでは、燃料電池単セルの積層方向における両端に、導電性を有するエンドプレートを配置し、これらのエンドプレートを燃料電池スタックの正極と負極として電力を取り出す構造が提案されている。
つまり、出力部材の配置や形状等の構成によっては、電圧ロスが大きくなることがあり、その場合には、燃料電池スタックの性能が低下するという問題があった。
集電板より低抵抗の出力端子が接続されている場合には、その接続箇所に向かって電流が流れる。本第2態様では、出力端子の電気抵抗が集電板の電気抵抗よりも小さい(電気抵抗が低い)ので、電圧ロスが少なく、燃料電池スタックの性能が向上する。
本第3態様では、接続領域の全体が、第1の接する線と第2の接する線との間に配置されているので、より集電部から出力端子に電流が流れ易い。よって、電圧ロスが少なく、燃料電池スタックの性能を向上することができる。
本第4態様では、突出部は、突出方向の先端側より根元側の幅が大きいので、集電部から突出部に電流が流れ易い。ひいては、出力端子に電流が流れ易い。また、突出部の根元側の強度が大きく、破損しにくいという利点がある。
本第5態様では、突出部は、突出部の幅は、根元側に向かって漸次広がっているので、集電部から突出部に電流が流れ易い。ひいては、出力端子に電流が流れ易い。また、突出部の根元側の強度がより大きく、一層破損しにくいという利点がある。
・前記図心とは、平面図形における重心(面積中心)を意味する。
・集電板の材料としては、ステンレス、ニッケル、ニッケル合金等を採用できる。
・燃料電池単セル及び発電単位としては、平板形状、扁平形状など、スタック化できるもの(即ち重ね合わせるように配置できるもの)であれば、特に限定はない。
・接続領域における出力端子の先端部分の形状(第1方向から見た形状:平面視)としては、長方形の短辺側のような多角形の形状や、滑らかな円形等の形状が挙げられる。
図1に示すように、本実施例1の固体酸化物形燃料電池スタック(以下、単に「燃料電池スタック」と称する)1は、燃料ガス(例えば水素)と酸化剤ガス(例えば空気、詳しくは空気中の酸素)との供給を受けて発電を行う装置である。
b)次に、発電単位7等の構成について、詳しく説明する。
なお、図2~図5においては、燃料電池スタック1の構成が分かりやすいように、縦・横の寸法は適宜設定してあり、各部材の個数等も適宜設定してある。
以下、各構成について、更に詳しく説明する。
インターコネクタ19は、導電性を有する板材(例えばSUS430等のステンレス鋼等の金属板)からなる。このインターコネクタ19は、燃料電池単セル17間の導通を確保し、且つ、燃料電池単セル17間(従って発電単位7間)でのガスの混合を防止するものである。なお、インターコネクタ19は、隣接する燃料電池単セル17間に配置される場合は、1枚配置されていればよい。
<空気極絶縁フレーム23>
図3に戻り、空気極絶縁フレーム23は、電気絶縁性を有する四角枠状の板材であり、軟質マイカからなるマイカフレームである。この空気極絶縁フレーム23には、(厚み方向から見た平面視で)その中央部に、空気流路31を構成する方形の開口部23aが形成されている。
セパレータ25は、四角枠状の導電性を有する板材(例えばSUS430等のステンレス鋼等の金属板)である。このセパレータ25には、その中央部の方形の開口部25aに沿った内周縁部(下面側)に、燃料電池単セル17の外周縁部(上面側)がろう付け接合されている。つまり、燃料電池単セル17は、セパレータ25の開口部25aを閉塞するように接合されている。
燃料極フレーム27は、導電性を有する例えばSUS430等のステンレスなどからなる四角枠状の板材である。この燃料極フレーム27には、(平面視で)その中央部に、燃料流路35を構成する方形の開口部27aが形成されている。
燃料極集電体37は、図5に示すように、マイカ製の芯材であるスペーサ61と導電部材である金属製の導電板(例えばニッケル製の平板形状の箔)63とが組み合わされた公知の格子状の部材(例えば特開2013-55042号公報に記載の集電部材19参照)である。
図2に戻り、燃料電池単セル17は、いわゆる燃料極支持膜形タイプの構造を有しており、薄膜の固体電解質(固体電解質層)51と、その一方の側(図2の下方)に形成された燃料極(アノード)53と、他方の側(図2の上方)に形成された薄膜の空気極(カソード)55とが一体に積層されたものである。

空気極55は酸化剤ガスが通過できる多孔質の層である。
この空気極55を構成する材料としては、金属、金属の酸化物、金属の複合酸化物を挙げることができる。金属としては、Pt、Au、Ag、Pd、Ir、Ru等の金属やそれらの合金が挙げられる。金属の酸化物としては、La、Sr、Ce、Co、Mn、Fe等の酸化物、例えばLa2O3、SrO、Ce2O3、Co2O3、MnO2、FeOが挙げられる。
この燃料極53を構成する材料としては、例えば、Ni及びFe等の金属と、Sc、Y等の希土類元素のうちの少なくとも1種により安定化されたジルコニア等のZrO2系セラミック、CeO系セラミックなどのセラミックとの混合物が挙げられる。また、Ni等の金属、或いは、Niと前記セラミックとのサーメットやNi基合金を使用できる。
<第1エンドプレート3側の構成>
図2に示すように、燃料電池スタック1の最上段の発電単位7においては、その上部のインターコネクタ19aの上面には、平面視でインターコネクタ19aと外周形状が同様な平面形状の板材である第1エンドプレート3が配置されている。なお、第1エンドプレート3は、インターコネクタ19と同様な材料からなる。
詳しくは、第1出力端子13は、先端部13aと延出部13bとが垂直に曲げられたL字状の板材であり、その先端部13aがボルト60によって第1エンドプレート3に固定されている。
これによって、上端のインターコネクタ19a及び第1エンドプレート3と第1出力端
子13とが電気的に接続されている。
図2に示すように、燃料電池スタック1の最下段の発電単位7においては、燃料極フレーム27及び燃料極集電体37の下面に接するように、上述したインターコネクタ19bに代えて、集電板9が配置されている。
このうち、端部絶縁プレート64は、空気極絶縁フレーム23と同様なマイカからなり、平面視でインターコネクタ19と外周形状が同様な平面形状の板材である。また、第2エンドプレート5は、第1エンドプレート3と同様な材料からなる同様な平面形状の部材である。
この第2出力端子15は、先端部15aと延出部15bとが垂直に曲げられたL字状の板材であり、先端部15aには、突出部貫通孔71と同形状の端子貫通孔73が開けられている。なお、第2出力端子15は、例えばステンレス等の導電材料からなる。この第2出力端子15の材料としては、集電板9よりも電気抵抗の低い材料(例えばニッケル又はニッケル合金)を用いてもよい。
詳しくは、突出部67と第2出力端子15とが接触して電気的接続を行う部分(突出部
貫通孔71と端子貫通孔73を含む)が、接続領域SR(図8の斜線部分)として設定されている。
更に、接続領域SRの全体が、接続可能範囲SKH内に配置されている。
[各部材の製造工程]
まず、例えばSUS430からなる各板材(即ち必要な厚みの各板材)を打ち抜いて、両エンドプレート3、5、集電板9、インターコネクタ19、燃料極フレーム27、セパレータ25、燃料極集電体37の導電板63を作製した。
また、マイカシートに対して、パンチング加工などによって、空気極絶縁フレーム23や端部絶縁プレート64を作製した。
燃料電池単セル17を、定法に従って製造した。
具体的には、まず、燃料極53を形成するために、例えば、イットリア安定化ジルコニア(YSZ)粉末と酸化ニッケル粉末とバインダー溶液とからなる材料を用いて、燃料極ペーストを作製した。そして、この燃料極ペーストを用いて、周知のドクターブレード法によって燃料極グリーンシートを作製した。
また、空気極55を形成するために、例えば、La1-xSrxCo1-yFeyO3粉末とバインダー溶液とからなる材料を用いて、空気極ペーストを作製した。
[燃料電池スタック1の製造工程]
次に、上述した各部材を、前記図2に示す順に組み合わせて、積層体を構成し、この積層体の貫通孔10にボルト11を嵌め込むとともに、各ボルト11にナット12を螺合させて締め付けて、積層体を押圧して一体化して固定した。
e)次に、本実施例1の効果について説明する。
本実施例1では、集電板9の突出部67と第2出力端子15とが電気的に接続される接続領域SRは、一方の貫通孔10cの外周に接する第1の接する線L1と、他方の貫通孔10dの外周に接する第2の接する線L2との間の帯状の範囲(即ち接続可能範囲SKH)内に形成されている。
本実施例2では、集電板の構成が実施例1と異なるので、異なる点を説明する。なお、実施例1と同様な部材の番号は同じ番号を使用する(以下同様)。
出部85は、先端側より根本側の幅が徐々に広くなっている。
また、この変形例として、図9(b)に示すように、突出部87の平面形状を、先端側から根本側にかけて一定の幅の長方形としてもよい。
本実施例3では、第2出力端子の構成が実施例1と異なるので、異なる点を説明する。
具体的には、本実施例3では、図9(c)に示すように、第2出力端子91の先端が台形である。
また、この変形例として、図9(d)に示すように、第2出力端子93の先端を半円形等の曲線としてもよい。
本実施例4では、貫通孔の平面形状が実施例1と異なるので、異なる点を説明する。
具体的には、本実施例4では、図10(a)に示すように、貫通孔101の平面形状が方形(正方形)である。
また、この変形例として、図10(b)に示すように、貫通孔111の平面形状を他の多角形(例えば六角形)としてもよい。
本実施例5では、実施例1の第1エンドプレート側の構成を、第2エンドプレート側と同様な構成としたものである。
なお、図示しないが、この突出部131に、第2出力端子15と同様にして第1出力端子13が接続される。
本実施例6では、燃料電池スタックの積層方向における端部の構成が実施例1と異なるので、異なる点を説明する。
なお、ここでは、実施例1と同様に、絶縁体8を介して、ボルト11及びナット12によって、集電板143が直接に締め付けられる。
以上、本発明の実施例などについて説明したが、本発明は、前記実施例などに限定されるものではなく、種々の態様を採ることができる。

- 前記第1方向から見た場合に、前記接続領域の全体が、前記第1の接する線と前記第2の接する線との間に配置されていることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の燃料電池スタック。
- 前記第1方向から見た場合に、前記突出部は、突出方向の先端側より根元側の幅が大きいことを特徴とする請求項1~3のいずれか1項に記載の燃料電池スタック。
- 前記第1方向から見た場合に、前記突出部の幅は、前記根元側に向かって漸次広がっていることを特徴とする請求項4に記載の燃料電池スタック。
